Mika's Upset That Christie Bashed MSNBC, Then Defends Him Over Hoboken Mayor's Attack

Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinsk and MSNBC have been very supportive of Chris Christie throughout his governorship, but in a flash he turned on them.

Mika and Joe Scarborough were in a tizzy over the Hoboken mayor's claims this weekend that Gov. Christie wanted her to agree to a real estate development deal or she'd lose Hurricane Sandy funds -- though the duo were hurt that Gov. Christie's P.R. machine attacked MSNBC for covering this story at all.

“MSNBC is a partisan network that has been openly hostile to Governor Christie and almost gleeful in their efforts attacking him, even taking the unprecedented step of producing and airing a nearly three-minute attack ad against him this week.”

You can see how Christie operates when people disappoint him.

NY Times: For Christie and MSNBC, a Messy Divorce Plays Out in Public View:

Over the weekend, Mr. Christie, who has appeared on MSNBC many times since taking office, angrily denounced it as a “partisan network” that is “almost gleeful in their efforts attacking” him. Christie aides have called it a “feeding frenzy.”

“There is a difference between treating this matter seriously and seeking out the truth and irresponsibly using hearsay and conjecture without confirming the facts,” Colin Reed, a spokesman for Mr. Christie, said on Sunday. Feelings are frayed on both sides. Mika Brzezinski, a co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” who makes no secret of her affection for Mr. Christie, seemed taken aback by the governor’s harsh critique.

“I was a little surprised when he took a jab at us,” she said in an interview on Sunday.

“I don’t think it’s legitimate to say this is a partisan attack,” she added. “I think this is a very real story, with legs.”

But their hurt feelings didn't last long as they took to MSNBC's airwaves and bashed Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer Monday morning

"Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, self-described fans of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), attacked the mayor of Hoboken, N.J. Monday for alleging Christie's administration shook her down for Hurricane Sandy relief funds.

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer alleged Saturday on MSNBC that Christie's lieutenant governor, Kim Guadagno, and one of Christie's cabinet members tried to pressure her into fast-tracking a proposed redevelopment project in her city in order to receive Sandy aid.

Scarborough and Brzezinski questioned Zimmer's credibility because she waited to come out with the allegation until months after the alleged shakedown. After an alleged encounter with Guadagno in May, Zimmer wrote in her personal diary that she was dismayed to find Christie "cut from the same corrupt cloth that I have been fighting for the last four years."

"If she's willing to go public and vouch for something that is corrupt, an administration that is corrupt, what does that say about her character?" Scarborough asked, referring to tweets Zimmer sent in praise of Christie. "She can't have it both ways."

"Way Too Early" host Thomas Roberts, calling Zimmer a "whistleblower," accused Scarborough and Brzezinski of "eviscerating" the mayor. Scarborough shot back, accusing Roberts of "putting a halo" over her.

"I'm not saying she's not telling the truth, I'm saying something much worse," Scarborough said. "Because I've heard all of this about what a saint she is and how horrible Chris Christie is … I'd never in a million years go to constituents who voted for me and say that a governor is a good man, that I support and I'm asking them to vote for him, if I thought 'he was so corrupt that it literally brought tears to my eyes.' That is a question of character."

Chris Matthews just loves him some Christie, too, so I wonder how he'll feel about the scathing criticisms Christie's team threw at his employer?
