In the world according to Republicans, they are completely trustworthy and the rest of us are idiots. Most especially, anxious immigrants and their families are nominated as idiots today.

John Boehner wants everyone to believe that President Obama must earn Republicans' trust first. Because they're soooo trustworthy.

NBC:

House Speaker John Boehner dampened prospects for immigration reform this year, blaming a lack of “trust” between the White House and Republicans.

“There’s widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws,” he said Thursday in a briefing with reporters. “And it’s going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes.”

But the GOP leader did not say what rebuilding that trust might entail.

Of course they didn't, because there isn't anything for the President to do. Boehner's got an unruly gaggle of bigots and haters in his caucus that he can't control, and they're going to make sure nothing gets done on immigration reform or else they'll hold their breath until they secede. Or something.
