In a hilarious move made by the failed GOP presidential nominee of 2012, Mitt Romney is now making believe he supports embattled Chris Christie and will fundraise with him in Boston on Thursday.

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will fundraise alongside New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Thursday in Boston.

The joint appearance is a signal by Romney to the Republican establishment that he remains an ally of the embattled Garden State governor, whose administration has become engulfed by a bridge-closing scandal.

Back in 2012, Team Romney wasn't happy with Chris Christie's RNC keynote speech because he didn't mention Mitt's name until sixteen whole minutes had gone by and instead focused on his own personal history.

Christie took his sweet time getting around to mentioning the party’s presidential nominee, but made sure he gave his national audience a warmer, homier version than his local caricature — that of the gruff, finger-pointing blowhard who’s not afraid to shout down a heckler at the Jersey Shore.

He didn’t mention President Obama by name, and waited until he was about 16 minutes in until he finally said the R word — Romney — leading to TV images where the GOP candidate and his wife looked less than thrilled.

Team Romney also passed on Christie as a possible VP candidate because of his weight, health, temper and excessive use of expensive hotels.

In their vetting process, the Romney team also turned up a 2010 Justice Department Inspector General report that criticized Christie as “the U.S. attorney who most often exceeded the government (travel expense) rate without adequate justification” and for offering ‘insufficient, inaccurate, or no justification’ for stays at overly expensive hotels."

At first, I thought this was a joke seeing how much baggage there is between the two, but Mitt is a loyal Republican so he's trying to do the right thing for the National Governors Association which Christie heads up. I doubt it will help Christie very much, but it might help Romney with the GOP elders.
