Geraldo Rivera: Crooked Politicians On Democratic Side 'Tend To Be Ethnic'
The pundits on Faux "news" continue to push the myth of that nonexistent "liberal media."
From the network that continually, and conveniently somehow gets the party designation wrong in their chryon any time there's a Republicans involved in a scandal, we've got the talking heads over at Faux "news" pretending that the so-called "liberal media" doesn't want anyone to know that there have been a slew of Democrats in California and N.C. with federal criminal indictments.
It seems none of them have turned on Rachel Maddow's show recently, because she was all over the story this week, and I'm guessing that these stories probably got plenty of local coverage, as is generally the case when you're talking about politicians on the state or local level getting in trouble.
That didn't stop Fox & Friends' Steve Doocy and his guest, Geraldo Rivera from pretending that the media is somehow covering up the fact that we've got crooked politicians of all political stripes. And just to add insult to injury, Rivera decided to throw in some racial slurs to boot: Fox’s Geraldo Rivera: Crooked politicians on the Democratic side ‘tend to be ethnic’:
“Usually, the politicians who are robbing on the Democratic side tend to be ethnic politicians, as in these cases,” Rivera said.
He claimed the media had downplayed the ethnicity and party affiliation of California state Sen. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco), who was indicted this week on weapons charges, and Mayor Patrick Cannon, of Charlotte, N.C., who was arrested on bribery and extortion charges.
“You know, the Asians, the Chinatown guys taking money from the Chinatown boss in San Francisco, the black mayor of Charlotte, you know, so there’s another politically correct reason to step over their real identification as Democrats, there’s no doubt and it is undeniable,” Rivera said.
Rivera argued this was part of a larger effort by liberal members of the media to promote the Democratic Party at the expense of the Republican Party.
“There is an instinct among the liberal, probably mostly Democratic mainstream media to portray Republicans as hypocrites,” Rivera said. “Anytime they sway from the churchgoing, family-loving, you know, U.S. of A. boostering, they get skewered by the liberal in the press, where Democrats they tend to avoid the party label.”
Co-host Steve Doocy said other networks had failed to identify either elected official by their party identification, and Rivera said his preceding comments were part of the conservative news channel’s appeal to viewers.
“That’s right, we are the antidote to that particular problem,” Rivera said.
They're something alright, but antidote isn't the word that comes to mind.
