Kansas GOP Legislature Eliminates Due Process For Teachers In War On Public Education
Teachers in Kansas can now be fired from their jobs simply because a principal doesn’t like them, or for any other reason after legislators revoked their due process, which they claim was necessary to fix a spending shortfall.

Teachers in Kansas can now be fired from their jobs simply because a principal doesn’t like them — or because a student who received a C instead of an A has a vengeful parent on the school board. There will be no fair hearing, no appeal, no due process of any kind. That’s it, you’re out the door.
At the end of a marathon weekend session, both houses of the state legislature approved a school finance bill which takes away protection that teachers in the state have enjoyed since 1957, while providing tax breaks for corporations which supply scholarships to exclusive private schools.
