NFL Embarrassed Itself Again By Suspending Girlfriend Beater Ray Rice Only 2 Games

The NFL suspends Ray Rice a paltry two games for knocking his now-wife unconscious in an elevator. That will really help the NFL's crappy image of drafting thugs and criminals.

Roger Goodell and the NFL look like complete fools by only suspending running back Ray Rice two games for knocking his former girlfriend and new wife unconscious in an elevator after an apparent argument.

CBS:

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has been suspended two games after allegedly knocking his fiancee unconscious at an Atlantic City casino, the NFL announced Thursday.

Rice, who was arrested for the Feb. 15 incident, will also be fined $58,000, ESPN reported. He’d be eligible to return in time to prepare for the Ravens’ Week 3 matchup at Cleveland.

“I believe that you are sincere in your desire to learn from this matter and move forward toward a healthy relationship and successful career,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a letter to Rice, according to a statement from the league. “I am now focused on your actions and expect you to demonstrate by those actions that you are prepared to fulfill those expectations.

Goodell suspends players for using performance enhancing drugs a minimum of four games, but punching his girlfriend's lights out only garners two? WTF? Talk about a "war on women" moment. How little does the NFL consider physical violence against women?

The very wise Mark Schlereth tells ESPN's First Take crew that the sentence was "very light."

@nfl & @nflcommish, are you guys releasing more of that cool pink merchandise? Ya know, so women can get pumped for football? #2games
