Shepard Smith On Ebola: 'Do Not Listen To The Hysterical Voices' Or 'Read Fear Provoking Words'

Fox News' Shepard Smith broke script with the conservatives and in four minutes explained in an impassioned way why to stop listening to the hysteria because there's nothing to fear from the Ebola virus.

Shepard Smith broke with all of his Roger Ailes brethren and opened his Fox News show today by taking a deep breath and asking everybody to listen to his next three minutes so he could tell you the real facts about the Ebola virus at this time.

Smith: For the next few minutes I'm going to give you the facts on Ebola. It'll take just three minutes. But first today given what we know, you should have no concerns about Ebola at all, none, I promise, unless a medical professional has contacted you and told you some sort of possible exposure, fear not. Do not listen to the hysterical voices on the radio and television or read the fear provoking words online. The people who say and write hysterical things are very irresponsible.

Shep then went on to lay out the facts of the case and told his audience that all the political hand wringing means nothing at all because it's purely politics.

Smith: Again, these are the facts. We don not have an outbreak of Ebola in the United States, nowhere. We do have two health care workers who contracted the disease from a dying man. They are isolated.

I report to you with certainty that being afraid is the wrong thing to do. Being "petrified" and that's a quote is ridiculous.

In a second segment after this opening he also made these very relevant comments about the media's culpability in spreading fear and panic.

Fox News host Shepard Smith scolded his network and other news colleagues on Wednesday, calling on them to stop inflaming fears of a “widespread panic” concerning potential Ebola cases in the U.S. “We don’t have an outbreak,” Smith said. “We have two sick people from one dying man. And the rest of this should stop, because it’s not productive. And it’s not worth ratings, and it’s not worth politics, and we all need to stop it.”
