C&L's Late Nite Music Club With Common & John Legend: 'Glory'

John Legend and Common pen a powerful and emotional tribute to the civil right's movement that came to a head in Selma, Alabama.

John Legend and Common wrote a stirring tribute for the film "Selma," which highlighted the struggle and fight for civil rights for African Americans that came to a head on Bloody Sunday, the Selma-to-Montgomery March.

The video interpolates powerful scenes from the Ava DuVernay-directed film footage in between shots of John Legend and Common performing the soundtrack's theme song on a beautifully lit stage.

After receiving the award from Prince on Sunday, Jan. 11, Common delivered an exception, emotional speech saying:

"I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter, killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid, who maybe needed a hand, but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered on the line of duty."

"Selma has awakened my humanity."
