When Tweety gets it right, he really gets it right, and when he paints Republican strategist John Feehery in a corner it's especially delicious.

This discussion start out around the conservative challenge to Boehner for the Speaker of the House position, but rapidly morphed into one about Steve Scalise.

The first gem came from Feehery, who started off the panel by saying that a poll shows a majority of Republicans favor dumping John Boehner for someone else. Feehery comes back with the typical response for a Republican -- A "big Democrat" is responsible for that poll.

The "big Democrat" he refers to is Fox "News" commentator Pat Caddell, who is hardly a Democrat, much less a big one.

And then it got interesting.

After Feehery expressed his absolute confidence that John Boehner and the new Republican Congress are going to "get a lot done" in the next two years, Dana Milbank came back to reassure him that in two more years Boehner won't be Speaker because by then the Steve Scalise contingent will have taken over the House, which sparked a pivot to the Scalise issue.

I love what happened next. Feehery went into Fox-hole mode, denying that Scalise had ever palled around with David Duke. Watch what happens when Tweety pins him to the wall with his own words, refuses to let him stonewall and forces him to say that he doesn't actually believe Scalise did hang out with David Duke.

Especially keep your eye on Milbank, as Feehery says outright he doesn't believe Scalise did anything like that, even though he apologized for it.

This is Republican denial tactics at its very best, but Milbank and Tweety forced him to own it anyway.

Tweety's final pronouncement: "You don't apologize for hanging out with Nazis if you didn't do it." So true.

And Milbank delivers the knockout punch: "I think it says volumes that the Republican Party in the House today is trying to run out John Boehner instead of Steve Scalise."

And there you have it, folks. The plain truth about today's GOP.
