C&L's Late Nite Music Club With 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Theme Song
This is the catchiest TV theme song in a very long time.
In honor of the premiere of HBO's Scientology documentary called "Going Clear," I give you the terriffic theme song from Netflix's own show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." The series is about how four women are rescued from a doomsday cult leader after being imprisoned in a bunker for 15 years.
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” a new Netflix comedy by the executive producers of “30 Rock,” puts a freakish contemporary spin on that premise: Rescued after 15 years of captivity in a doomsday cult in Indiana, Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) moves into a basement apartment in New York City with an eccentric roommate and a kooky landlady.
The series leavens wacky absurdity with acid wit and is very funny. Tina Fey, who created “30 Rock,” and Robert Carlock, its showrunner, apply that show’s alchemy to this one, and it works. Almost every scene has both whimsy and something darker, at once daftly effervescent and snidely cynical.
There's a lot happening in Indiana these days.
I binged the whole series that was created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock a couple of weeks ago and although it's not quite as funny as 30 Rock, it certainly is very good and has a tremendous amount of upside for season two and beyond. NBC should be kicking themselves in the ass for passing on this show after their Thursday night comedy block has completely flamed out.
Ellie Kemper is simply marvelous as Kimmy Schmidt and the theme song is dynamite!
This is the kind of tune that gets stuck in your head and you find yourself humming it while driving around your neighborhood.
What other theme songs are you tripping on this evening?
