C&L's Late Nite Music Club With Diana Damrau: Mozart's 'Die Zauberflöte - Der Hölle Rache

One of the greatest exhibitions of the female voice Mozart ever composed

As I've aged, I've gradually become an opera fan. As usual Mozart's genius could not be denied in this genre either. His operas were sensational and when I heard this aria from The Magic Flute, I literally melted.

"Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" ("Hell's vengeance boils in my heart"), commonly abbreviated Der Hölle Rache, is the second aria sung by the Queen of the Night, a soprano coloratura part, in Mozart's opera The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte). It is considered to be one of the most famous opera arias, highly memorable, fast paced and menacingly grandiose.

Diana Damrau does a fantastic job with this piece. Only Wolfgang can turn the human voice into sounding like an actual instrument made out of brass, violin strings and crystal.
