Christie: 'I'd Rather Jump Off The Brooklyn Bridge Than Be In Congress'

Of note: Christie did not say he'd rather jump off the George Washington Bridge.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made an appearance on This Week to thump his own chest and pretend like he's the Great Republican Savior.

That is, a Great Republican Savior that would throw himself off the Brooklyn Bridge rather than ever serve in Congress, as he declared to GSteph when asked about whether he was really angling for the job of Speaker of the House.

Speaking of his ability to keep unity in the Republican Party, Christie bragged about vetoing over 400 bills sent to him by the New Jersey legislature while "reforming" pensions and teacher tenure.

" I've not only gotten things done like pension reform and tenure reform that people said could never get done, but also I've vetoed more than 400 bills," he puffed. "And every one of those vetoes has been sustained. That shows I can keep the Republican Party together. Maybe they should send me the House caucus to try to help them with that."

"And of all the people on that stage, I guarantee you, George, you'd agree with this, no one has been more tested than me. No one."

Yes, it's so incredibly trying to be a right-wing bully in the state of New Jersey.

Stephanopoulos then asked Christie about the insider-versus-outsider nature of the GOP primaries, and where Christie was set apart in the insider group.

In typical Christie-esque form, he claimed he was an outsider in his own state. Sure he is. And then came the list of ways he's destroyed public workers' lives in New Jersey. After noting that each veto had been sustained, he claimed that he, and only he could keep the GOP united.

Personally, I'd invite him to jump off the George Washington Bridge instead of the Brooklyn Bridge. It's far more appropriate. Barring that, the next best option would be for him to drop out of this race.
