Maine Gov. LePage Defiant In Bogus Apology Presser: 'I Apologize To All The Maine Women'
Maine Gov. LePage gave a presser for his racist remarks, but what he did was blame the media for taking his words out of context and adding in racial overtones to them.
Maine voters sure know how to pick them. Gov. LaPage, has always acted and sounded like a buffoon, but now since he's a sitting governor who is endorsing New Jersey governor Chris Christie for president, all eyes are on him.
On Thursday, he must have done a Freaky Friday moment, thinking he was some kind of weird rapper instead of a governor and went on a racist rant about drug dealers named D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty, who drive by Maine, selling scag and impregnating white women.
Let's just say that didn't go over too well. Immediate calls are going to Gov. Christie to dump this racist jackass, so today he held a quick presser to discuss his choice of words. As usual, he blames the "perfect" media for his own choice of words.
LePage: I spoke for an hour and fifteen minutes and you're focusing on one word. Well, take the one word and do whatever you need to do with it, but my heart and when I go home at night and what we're struggling with is still with the drug addicts, that I want off the streets.
It went downhill from there. He attacked the media again as idiots who don't live the life of a man, like himself, who must deal with drug addicts.
So if I slipped up and used a wrong word, I apologize to all the Maine Women because it was not meant to isolate any one person.
When a reporter asked him about singling out "black" drug traffickers only, his response was "I never said anything about white or black on traffickers."
When he was asked about his choices of names like D-Money, Shifty, Smoothie and he feigned ignorance.
Yea, what are they, black?I don't know who they are, I just read the names.
I wonder if Dr. Ben Carson will defend LaPage and use his standard "PC police" defense?
Let's hope Christie names him a national spokesman for his campaign.
I made one slip-up," LePage conceded. "I may have made many slip-ups. I was going impromptu in my brain, didn't catch up to my mouth. Instead of saying, 'Maine women,' I said, 'White women.' I'm not going to apologize to the Maine women for that because if you go to Maine you will see we are essentially 95 percent white."
My brain was slower than my mouth,” LePage, a Republican, told reporters in Augusta, Maine. But he didn’t back down from his stance that out-of-state drug traffickers are a problem. “Get your heads out of the sand please. Help us,” LePage said. “I’m sorry I’m not like you guys, but I have a heart. I have a heart for Maine people.” “Personally, I don’t really care what the press thinks about me,” he added. “What I do care is I want the drug dealers to know I’m after them…I want the Maine people to know that I may have a slip of the tongue but my heart is to protect Maine people and that’s the end of the story.”
