MSNBC was covering the Iowa Caucuses and Chris Matthews was discussing with Robert Costa, how interesting it was that so many Iowans haven't made up their mind yet on who they would vote for. In the middle of their discussion, Chris was struck by something that didn't seem possible at the time!

Matthews: you weren't here with me at that hotel lobby, people telling me grown ups, not first time voters and you can vote here if you you're seventeen and you're going to turn eighteen by November. People that haven't made up their mind even today, but they are going to vote. They've committed to vote...

Costa: This state values the caucuses. ..

It is something this state carries with pride. They talk about it like a family affair in this state and they want it to stay, they know the party committees can easily nationalize the primaries next time around. They want to stay first.

Matthews: I just saw a minority voter, there. I mean it is largely a white crowd, to be blunt about it..

Costa: It's a very white state, but this is a election, when you're walking around today and hour ago, cause I was really trying to get outside and figure out what was happening in Des Moines...

Robert Costa stumbled, but then does a good job of moving past Matthews' weird racial observation.

Matthews made it sound like he just saw a Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow in the middle of some Common Loons.
