Newt Gingrich Blames Fox News, 'Invented' Donald Trump's Candidacy
The hosts of Fox and Friends were shocked when Gingrich blamed them for Trump's popularity
If you ask Donald Trump, he'd tell you that Fox News and Megyn Kelly, were out to get him and that they've been supporting Roboto's campaign, but that's not what Newt Gingrich told the Fox & Friends gang earlier this morning.
While they were discussing Trump's dominance, Brian Kilmeade told Newt that Mitt Romney's big money advantage in 2012 made it difficult for (him) and the other candidates to keep up, but this time "the billionaire is spending the least amount and running away with this thing."
Gingrich didn't hesitate and said, " but that's because of you guys."
Kilmeade looked perplexed and said "why?"
Gingrich: Look, that's because of you guys Donald Trump gets up in the morning, tweets to the entire planet at no cost, picks up the phone, calls you, has a great conversation for about eight minutes, which would have cost him a ton in commercial money, and meanwhile his opponents are all out there trying to raise the money to run an ad. Nobody believes the ad.
The boys try to defend themselves.
Kilmeade: Donald Trump, from day one made himself available to big and small...
Doocy: Plus, he's invented scenarios where suddenly he's got all this free media. That Pope thing, who wasn't talking about that?
Gingrich: You can say that Trump is the candidate that Fox & Friends invented. he was on your show more than any other show. It was always a happy, positive conversation.
yea
Gingrich: He just kept going around the country...
Newt's description of F&F's treatment of Trump, reminded me of an "Angel" episode in season 4 called "Shiny Happy People," where everybody who looked upon Jasmine, were completely enthralled by her presence.
Ben Carson, was the first Fox News candidate because they gave him an unimpeded platform for years to attack president Obama with, which in turn, made him widely popular with the Fox News viewers.
