Donald Just Gave An Economic Speech In Front Of A Pile Of Garbage

The metaphor is inescapable.

Donald Drumpf just gave an economic speech in front of a backdrop perfectly depicting the content of said speech -- a pile of mangled garbage.

It was a BIG speech. A big, beautiful speech, with words lifted from Bernie Sanders' stump speech. It had some words about TPP, NAFTA, trade agreements, and Making Things In America Again. You can read his prepared remarks here.

Too bad it's all lies, particularly his apparent love for the Made in America label. While promising to rebuild America's infrastructure with Pennsylvania steel, Drumpf "forgot" that he built his own buildings with concrete because steel was too expensive for the likes of him.

As usual, the more humorous moments -- if you can call them that -- were teleprompter gaffes, like calling the U.S. the "United Straits of America." He paused from his prepared remarks to deliver some lines with a new tic where he repeats one word.

But again, this big beautiful amazing American speech was delivered in front of a pile of garbage. Perhaps the garbage had been artfully arranged, and was beautiful, magnificent garbage. But it was still garbage, just like his speech.
