'Tehran' Tom Cotton Held Up Nomination To 'Inflict Pain' On Obama
Pain was inflicted, but on the nominee, now deceased.
Cassandra Butts was a former White House counsel, friend of President Obama's, and nominee for Ambassador to The Bahamas until she died last week of natural causes at age 50.
Her nomination, along with others, was stalled by Republican Senators who were using his ambassadorial nominations as leverage toward other issues.
However, no one was more pathological about why he held up her nomination than 'Tehran' Tom Cotton.
According to the New York Times, Cotton placed a hold on Obama's ambassadorial nominations in order to pressure him to do something about the leaks coming out of the Secret Service.
Eventually, that issue was resolved, and Cotton lifted all of the holds except Butts'. When she met with him to ask why the hold remained on her nomination, Cotton told her "that he knew that she was a close friend of Obama’s — the two first encountered each other on a line for financial-aid forms at Harvard Law School, where they were classmates — and that blocking her was a way to inflict special pain on the president."
But her spokesperson wanted the Times reporter to know that Tehran Tommy had enormous respect for Cassandra Butts. It wasn't about her, you understand. It was about that uppity Black man living in the White House.
Apparently he didn't have enough respect to stop using her as a voodoo doll for the President. Arkansas, you can do better than this.
