Bernie Calls For Vote By Acclamation; Clinton Is Official Democratic Nominee
At the end of the roll call vote, Bernie Sanders asked for the rules to be suspended and Hillary to be nominated. Class act.
After the Vermont delegation passed on casting its delegate votes until all of the other states had voted, Senator Bernie Sanders made his way down to the Vermont delegation and cast Vermont's votes.
He then moved for the rules to be suspended and for Hillary Clinton to be nominated by acclamation, which is consistent with his call for all delegates to be counted at the convention.
Everyone in the hall was on their feet cheering with brightly colored signs as Rep. Marcia Fudge pronounced Clinton the official nominee of the Democratic Party.
And in that moment, history is made. The first woman has been nominated as the Democratic candidate for the office of President of the United States.
