CNN's Kayleigh McEnany Is Doublespeaking For Donald
"He meant to call the President a terrorist, sure, but he was sarcastic if that gets him in trouble."
After a full day of having Donald Trump campaign operatives and media surrogates defending Trump for claiming that President Obama is the founder of ISIS, today he upended the cart by saying he just cracking a joke.
On CNN's Newsroom, super Trump surrogate Kayleigh McEnany was forced to not only do an about face, but come up with the most ridiculous excuse of all, by saying Trump was being "both serious and sarcastic. " Huh?
CNN host Erica Hill tried to make sense of it. "Kayleigh, he's got all these people speaking on his behalf helping to double down on those initial comments. You know, what's that like for you? Does the sarcasm bother you?
McEnany replied, "Well, I think two things are going on. He was being both serious and sarcastic. i think those two things are comportable in this way. Was he sarcastic in the sense that Barack Obama is the founder of ISIS, his name's on the document, that was sarcasm. Of course his name's not on the founding documents."
Kayleigh, I doubt ISIS submitted an articles of incorporation when the decided to become a terrorist organization.
She continued, "Is he serious in the sense that Barack Obama is the unintentional founder of ISIS because he opened up a gaping hole in the middle east they took advantage of and grew to 40,000 strong? Yes, that is very serious."
Trump could have said these things just like McEnany did this morning to try and wiggle her boss out of another PR nightmare, but he didn't.
He never said he was being sarcastic, ever. Even Hugh Hewitt tried to coax him into saying he's being hyperbolic, but he didn't.
HH: But he’s not sympathetic to them. He hates them. He’s trying to kill them.
DT: I don’t care. He was the founder. His, the way he got out of Iraq was that that was the founding of ISIS, okay?
Kayleigh continued, "I think it was both serious and sarcastic. We can get into semantics. Was Barack Obama the creator, the contributor, the founder? Look, that doesn't matter."
Yes, it does matter. The words of a presidential candidate matter greatly and have an effect on the population.
And it was never about semantics, ever!
Like other Trump surrogates before her, Kaleigh McEnany earns her living by staring into a television camera and lying for the biggest and most unstable liar in the history of American politics. And she earns every penny.
And she is propped up by the networks fear of the word "lie." Trump's statements are "incorrect" or "controversial." No, they're lies. He knows he's lying, and Kayleigh McEnany sure knows they're lies. Otherwise she wouldn't be paid to be the voice of his unreason on CNN.
