I've been having a hard time watching cable news lately, can you blame me?

Donald Trump has been using the media like his own PR firm and today it hit rock bottom

When Donald Trump said this to Bartiromo, he should have been shunned by the press.

“Well, I’m gonna make a big announcement on it today probably during my first speech at my new hotel,” Trump said. Host Maria Bartiromo asked, “The bottom line is this, we know that Obama now, he was born in the United States, right?” “You watch my statement,” Trump responded. “We have to — we have to keep the suspense going, okay?”

Instead they covered a glorified infomercial for his new DC hotel, and allowed for his paid surrogates to rain praise down on him uninterrupted.

After discussing our "shattered military" for a few minutes, he finally addressed the issue that he created back in 2011. And he did it by prefacing his remarks with a bold faced lie.

Trump said, "So I want to thank everybody. thank you. Now, not to mention her in the same breath, but Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy. I finished it. I finished it."

He continued, "You know what I mean. President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period. Now we all want to get back to making America strong and great again. thank you. thank you very much. thank you. thank you."

Hillary Clinton didn't start the birther movement and Trump didn't finish it.

Politifiact covered this lie a while ago and rated it "false."

The Clinton campaign never mentioned it or gave numerous interviews discussing Obama's birth certificate. That was Donald Trump, in all his disgusting attention grabbing ploy.

And he ran and ran and ran with it.

And not only did Trump embrace the birther movement, he became the King of the Birthers. And this is why he finally had to release a statement denying it since he has been getting raked over the coals for it now.

In his statement, not only did he lie about Hillary and introduce that lie into the mainstream news cycle, but he never apologized to President Obama for being a bigoted jerk.

All of America except wacko conservatives knew Barack Obama was born in America. Of all the cretinous things he's said and done, this ranks at the top.

And Trump was introduced by retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney, who appeared on Fox News regularly and also is a birther.

But back in 2010, McInerney wrote an affidavit that questioned the constitutionality of President Obama's authority, based on the "widespread and legitimate concerns" about his birth records,TPM reported at the time.

Now the media will descend into hours of debate discussing with all his vile surrogates as if Hillary Clinton started the birther movement.

It's time for cable news producers to use "news judgement" and when the topic of Hillary and birtherism crops up, they should have their hosts shut it down, immediately.
