Kellyanne Conway Shocked When Fox Host Asks If She Bought Clinton Oppo Research

Conway didn't see that one coming and got momentarily befuddled.

Fox and Friends co-host Steve Doocy surprised Trump's former campaign manager by asking her if she paid for opposition research into Hillary Clinton.

Trump's three-headed propaganda machine had on Kellyanne Conway to discuss the news of possible indictments being handed down by Mueller's special counsel Monday morning.

Her fall back position was all about Trump's communication skills and Fusion GPS.

But then something strange and wonderful happened on the set of Fox & Friends, no less!

Steve Doocy asked, "But Kellyanne, did your campaign - did you finance opposition research?"

What was in his Wheaties this morning?

A befuddled Conway paused, thinking, "Ahhhh -- so that's very typical."

The look on her face was priceless.

Kellyanne admitted that financing opposition research is very typical for presidential campaigns as well as any other campaign for an elected office.

And then she lied.

Conway said, "You usually get that from publicly available information."

If all oppo research is so readily available on the Google, then why finance it with major dollars, Kellyanne? That's just not true.

There's "dirt" (a Trump operative word when dealing with the Russians) that people have not put on the public record or on the Google or it's too vague and old to find on the internet that takes time and resources to dig up and that's why they pay big bucks to find anything that will give a candidate an edge.

She continued, "You don't go and dig around with foreign nationals like this British ..."

That's not what the Clinton campaign did.

Doocy, in a surprising and uncharacteristic move kept on her.

Steve said, "I understand, but it seems like every campaign for president does do oppo research on the other side."

Conway agreed. Of course!

Of course they do, but Conway wanted to hide behind a smokescreen about the extent the Trump campaign funded their own opposition research because the dollars they spent are not evident in their own paper work and it hurts their talking points that are aimed to take the spotlight off of Trump.

Now comes her nonsense.

She continued, "Let me say by the time I got involved in the campaign, the messages were very clear. Donald Trump is going to continue with a positive economic message. He was going to name terrorists who they were, radical Islamic terrorism, put ISIS in retreat. He promised a tax cut...."

None of that answered Doocy's question. Again, that was part of her talking points about Trump messaging, which was by most accounts not positive at all, but instead was engaged in an attack mode for the duration of the campaign.

After blowing some smoke about Trump she veered off into the ridiculous.

"I was a student of Hillary Clinton. Remember the first time she tried to destroy the nation's health health care system some 25 years earlier. and so, anything negative you needed to know about Hillary Clinton was right in front of you," Conway said.

Really. What did having a private email server have to do with 1994's health care push? What did the ginned up Benghazi scandal that Republicans flogged for four years have to do with her past?

Conway went on to filibuster on the same things she's said since she took over Trump's campaign but have no bearing on her expenditures on opposition research. She'd been exposed, no matter how hard she tried to cover it up.
