Kansas Says 'HELL, NO!' To Abortion Bans And Other Primary Results

Kansas didn't just say no, they said HELL, NO. In other news, Kari Lake is losing in Arizona.

Kansas voters didn't just say no to a constitutional amendment allowing an abortion ban,, they shouted "Hell NO" to one at the top of their voting lungs. As of this writing, the "No" vote was winning with a 61 percent to 39 percent lead.

Turnout in Kansas was up, with some predicting it would match or possibly exceed turnout in the 2008 presidential race, where it was 63.3 percent of eligible voters. Whatever the turnout, it's clear voters don't want abortion bans, even in red states.

Mollie Hemingway of the ridiculous winger publication The Federalist, tried to blame the result on money spent, instead of voter intensity. Keep flogging that dead horse, Mollie.

In other Kansas news, KKKris KKKobach has won the primary for Attorney General, which would be a disaster, given that a judge ordered him to take basic remedial law courses. We urge Kansans to elect the Democrat, Chris Mann.

Elsewhere, candidates who bowed before their god Trump had mixed results. DeVos-backed Tudor Dixon won the Michigan gubernatorial primary, and will face Governor Gretchen Whitmer in November. Dixon will be running on a platform of election lies and abortion bans. Let's see how that works out for her.

In Arizona, Trump acolyte and election denier Kari Lake is losing by 9 points as of this writing to Karrin Taylor Robson, which is both delicious and a guarantee of whiny claims of election theft and fraud, for sure. Oh wait, that's already happening. SharpieGate 2.0 is here, folks.

UPDATE: Lake is now leading.

Wingnut and Peter Thiel-backed Blake Masters is eking out a lead against Jim Lamon with a 34 percent to 30 percent lead as of this writing. The winner of this primary will face off against the popular and well-funded Senator Scott Kelly in November.

Also, in AZ, Mark Finchem wins the GOP nomination for AZ Secretary of State -- an ominous outcome, should he win the office in November.

In Missouri, Eric won!!! But not Eric Greitens, the abuser. Eric Schmitt will face Trudy Busch Valentine for the open Senate seat.

Back to Michigan, it appears that the few somewhat principled Republicans who voted for impeachment may be on their way out. Peter Meijer appears to have lost his primary to Trump worshiper John Gibbs.

On the Dem side, progressive Andy Levin was defeated by Haley Stevens. Both are incumbents, redistricted into the same district.

Over in Washington State, Jaime Herrera-Butler looks like she will survive her primary challenge:

Unfortunately, the odious Dave Schweikert will survive his primary, too:

These are the highlights. But the one overarching message is the one sent in Kansas, where the ballot initiative to allow an abortion ban was not just defeated, but trounced by Democrats and Republicans alike.

Texas is next, baby. Voter registration is up, and Greg Abbott's abortion ban is widely unpopular.

This is what happens when we turn out and vote.

Editor's Note: This article has been corrected to indicate that Kris Kobach was running for Attorney General, not Secretary of State.
