On May 17th, 1954, the Supreme Court began to right the wrongs of the racist Jim Crow laws.

Britannica, "In a unanimous ruling on this day in 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down racial segregation in public schools, declaring that separate facilities for Black and white students were inherently unequal."

While the racist South refused to initially adhere to this ruling, this case ushered in the Civil Rights movement.
