Trump's Former Acting AG Spins Paul Pelosi Attack For GOP
Matt Whittaker blamed San Francisco and its crime policies for the attack, and not the radical MAGA cult.
On Fox Business Network today, Trump's former US Acting (of course) Attorney General Matt Whitaker blamed Democratic policies and not violent right-wing political rhetoric against Speaker Pelosi for the attack on Paul Pelosi.
(If you have forgotten, in late December of 2018, "400 former employees of the Justice Department have signed a statement released Tuesday opposing President Donald Trump's appointment of Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general.)"
"It's a horrific invasion of his home and an assault on him, and political violence should never and does not have a place in our society," he said.
(You know there's a 'but' coming.)
"We have to look at a bigger picture,' Whittaker said.
No, we don't.
"And that is that San Francisco is crime-riddled, and a lot of it is due to the lax policies of a local prosecutor.” he said.
How is the politically motivated hate attack on Paul Pelosi by a radical MAGA supporter have anything to do with bail requirements or crime statistics? It doesn't.
Republicans cannot get honest about any issue these days.
Whitaker said it's going to be very interesting to see how "San Francisco treats this perpetrator who was charged with some serious crimes, whether he gets the same treatment a lot of the violent criminals in San Francisco and is let out..."
Violent criminals ARE NOT let out of jail without a bail requirement.
Whittaker, keeping up with the republican meme of attacking cash bail requirements passes out misinformation about San Francisco's bail system to appease the MAGA cult.
In the prepared statement, the DA said it would “evaluate every pre-trial release decision on an individualized basis considering victim safety, the protection of the public, the seriousness of the offense charged, any previous criminal record of the defendant, and the probability of the defendant’s appearance in court. Public safety and the safety of the victim shall be the primary considerations.”
The SF DA also said it would request pre-trial detention only in felony cases involving “violence on another person, sexual assault, threat of great bodily harm, unreasonable to risk to victim or public safety, repeated criminal conduct that poses risk to public safety, repeated failures to abide by less restrictive alternatives to jail and repeated failures to appear in court as promised.
This is a felony case from a violent physical assault and David Wayne DePape poses a threat to public safety.
it's been pretty disgusting watching republicans and Fox News gaslight the vicious attack on Paul Pelosi. There was a great possibility that DePape would have murdered Speaker Pelosi if she was in the house at the time of the attack.
