I was flipping the cable channels all night long and I came across some info on CNN that I hadn't heard from anyone else during their pundit round table. In early exit poll data last night, who do you think Americans still blame for our economic troubles?
CNN: Who's to Blame for the economy?
Voters think the economy’s a wreck…but who’s to blame? Thirty-five percent of voters in early exit polls pin the blame on Wall Street. The next name on the list: former President Bush – 29 percent point their fingers in his direction. President Obama follows, at 24 percent.
I watched CNN's wingnut pundit Alex Castellanos say that Bush wasn't on the ballot to deflect the impact of this news when Donna Brazile brought up this poll. I'm sure some Wall Streeter will write a nasty op-ed demanding an apology from America or he'll quit his million-dollar-a-year job. No matter how much Bush hides, America still hates him, so when he does his book tour he'll be put back under the microscope.
And as Digby says: Shhh. Don't Tell Anyone, But The Majority of People Aren't Entirely Stupid
This would be why DLCers like Harold Ford are all over the TV telling us that must immediately mend fences with Wall Street. After all, I'm sure it will result in bringing in lots of money for the DLC. Whether it works out for Democrats in general is less likely. But then, that's not really the point is it?
