Pressure is really mounting against Alberto Gonzales. As Nicole mentioned earlier, the Senate has a big week ahead in terms of hearings & investigations and the embattled AG will be center stage in at least three of them. To make things worse, The Politico is reporting that the White House is seeking Gonzales' replacement and shopping names around the senior leadership for an acceptable alternative.

But in another turn of events, a senior Bush official is now telling The Daily News that Gonzales will weather the storm. The Justice Department is slated to release a whole new round of emails any minute now -- 2000 is the latest estimate -- so expect some juicy headlines later today/tomorrow.
