Larry King's Paris Hilton interview tonight was downright banal. To think he bumped Michael Moore for this nobody. He could have spent the night hearing about how terrible our health care system is, but instead he heard philosophy from a blond airhead - "life is a journey."
Larry King needs to go already he's loosing it. Yesterday he called Ringo Starr - "George." I don't like his interview style at all. I mean I like someone being mellow and stuff, but King's question are so generic and boring. He has never had a great interview. He gets good guest, but never has a great interview.

Yeah, it's interesting to note how different media outlets handle this story; whether they try to brush it under the rug( the "nothing new" line), whether they try to relate it to what's going on today, or whether they ignore it alltogether in favor of fluff.
I've noticed C&L hasn't picked up on this story, but has ample space to feature Ann Coultre, the Paris Hilton of the Beltway.
Most outlets are downplaying or ignoring the CIA drug experiments on unwitting citizens, and the fact that much has been redacted, and that this report was just supposed to be "the tip of the ice-berg."

I like Edwards more than any of the other (presently running!) candidates, but I hate the way he uses every little thing to solicit money. I do not like my support and righteous indignation used like a commodity.
Hannity had Tavis Smiley on tonight, and almost demanded that he accuse Hillary of the 'sins' of Bill, because as Hannity claimed, Hillary "never had to answer this question: [..] it has to do with justice. Her husband, Tavis, she wants the female vote in this country, there are five women, that accused her husband of doing horrible things to them. Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willy, Juanita Broderick and Monica.Two of them that they denied, turned out to be telling the truth, she never had to answer the question 'do you believe these women lied about your husband and why didn't you speak out in favor of women?"
Tavis replied that Hannity's statement is not a fair question but an accusation and Bill Clinton is not on the ballot.
Great for Tavis putting down that loudmouth. Could you imagine that if Hannity were MC'ing the debate? Would it be 100% bashing Hillary?
Bill did horrible things to among others - Monica? Gimme a break. The only woman in history who can claim that without a doubt, she is/was the only one ever known to have given a bj to a sitting president in the oval office. That is something for History.
Just like to say that the announcement pertaining to the approaching storm of Hurricane Katrina took HOURS. Yet that wildfire that placed the residents of South Lake Tahoe,CA received IMMEDIATE attention to evacuate.
Hwy 50 that leads into this area was closed by approx 3:30 pm; whereas information about the blaze was reported at 2:15 pm. It is approximately 48 hours letter and the area has already been a named a FEMA disaster area qualifying residents for aid.The local news stations have been reporting that insurance and financial institutions have already set up camp to assist those attempting to rebuild.
So what does this tell me?
It reiterates the fact that in America;the lives of a few good white working-class people are better than the lives of several thousand poor white and other people of color.

Today's my birthday.
I want a news media that focuses less on Paris Hilton's cooter, Hillary Clinton's legs, John Edward's hair cuts and focuses more on the issues affecting our country.
Also, a strawberry cheesecake from Eli's, the latest Robert Randolph CD, Buffy Season 8, Angel Season 6, and Firefly Seasons 2 thru 6, if that's not too much.
A large part of the reason, I believe, that good Republicans are gasping for air and looking outside their party at candidates like Obama is that their party has been hijacked by a bunch of interventionist, big government, deficit spending, anti-libertarian, incompetent zealots with the aid of a massive media blitz from Rupert Murdoch and Fox. Fox, down to Bush's Fox spokesperson Tony Snow, wraps these bogus zealots in the American flag and attacks anyone who isn't onboard as traitors. Murdoch and his Fox apologist squad are the firewall that is preventing this bogus lot from facing accountability for their rampant lawbreaking and failed policies.
Now Murdoch threatens to take over one of America's most venerable and honest news institutions, the Wall Street Journal.
I for one am canceling my online subscription to the Wall Street Journal if the Bancroft family sells out to the right-wing billionaire Rupert Murdoch. Conservatives complain incessantly about liberal billionaires like Soros lurking in the shadows. Yet somehow Republicans are unable to pinpoint Soros' levers that exercise anywhere near the influence of the national Fox News Network and the rest of the Murdoch media empire. Despite Soros' alleged manipulations, Republicans have been quite successful in getting themselves elected until the last election when their incompetence and corruption were just too much for voters to continue to stomach.
Is it a coincidence that the Bush Republican’s rise coincided with Murdoch’s dominance of the media? Murdoch’s Fox Network famously called the 2000 election in favor of the Republican candidate, causing all the other networks to follow suit. Only later after the impact of the Democratic candidate being the underdog was felt did Fox News admit that it had no basis at all to call the election and, indeed, was suspiciously on the phone with Republican campaign officials that night. In the next Presidential election Fox parroted dubious smears to the Democratic candidate from a partisan group with murky origins (the Swifties). A documentary on Fox showed how these actions were not a coincidence and how the “news” network circulated daily memos instructing their broadcasters on which party line of the day to tow, such as the Democratic Presidential candidate being a “flip flopper.” Indeed, a Fox News alum has taken the top media position within the White House itself.
Murdoch himself has slipped in publicly admitting that he used his network to try to manipulate the country concerning the war in Iraq. Murdoch is not interesting in the goal of reporting the news to reveal the truth, but rather in the goal of using the news as a tool to manipulate the public to promote his right-wing agenda.
In short, Murdoch’s claim that he will be non-partisan in taking over the Wall Street Journal is not credible. He has made similar promises before only to reneg.

These three...Amazing human beings who have contributed so much to our society( They must have just look at the 24 hour coverage they get) Can travel to locations that the media has so far ignored and shed light on the problems in those regions. Paris being the selfless , modest person that she is, would do anything to bring attention to the fact that American soldiers, and innocent civilians are being killed every day in a civil war in Iraq. Suppose for a moment that she hopped on a plane and went over there.. The media would follow her like a pack of wolves on the hunt.
Nicole, knows what its like to have missed a few meals, therefore she should be able to relate to the starving people in Darfur. She could go over there and bring attention to a genocide that has been going on for years. Women and girls are raped on a daily basis and children are being used in the army of militias. Villages are burned and destroyed and there are millions of orphans. If she took time out of her busy schedule ( getting her nails done, shopping) the media would pay attention and follow her to Darfur. The world would began to see how horrific the conditions are there.

My guess is if word got out that Lindsey was going to move into one of the trailers provided by FEMA, the media would stake the trailer park out. They would follow Lindsey through the garbage filled streets and abandoned homes.
Perhaps they'll have an epiphany and realize, that they've wasted so much time covering people who don't deserve it. Maybe..just maybe they'll take notice of the suffering in Darfur, the American soldiers dying in a civil war or the American citizens who are still suffering in New Orleans.. One can only hope that the media finds it's soul.

Brownback is right. What reasonable woman wouldn't want to see the face of the man who raped her every time she looks at her child?
We have a 3% increase in prison population, voters who are caged or purged from voting roles, Lets see Voting machines that do not give a paper ballot. Would it be logical to assume the tooth paste were meant to further reduce the little guys. Some who have never even been given a fair trial.
