The Republicans are AFRAID the American People will ask them the REAL HARD Questions.
They would rather have the stupid Dog and pony type show where they get asked questions they have rehearsed, and even then they look stupid. (how many of you don't believe in evolution) etc. They all pander to the Religious Right.
Well, I liked Gahndi's take on that:
"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."

By the way, Cheney requested his new heart device be Dark Grey in color so it would go well with his black heart.
Bush was actually president during the period of Cheney's operation.
If anyone could answer this. How did the republican congress have so much power with 6 more senators then the democrats before last election?(I think 6 more or 5 because the dems won 5/6 seats in the senate last election) It doesnt seem like alot more seeing that the senate needed 2/3's vote to overcome the minority vote. So now the democratic party can only stop the repubs from passing bills but cannot muster enough voting power to get there bills throu. So 5 more seats is all they need to overcome the minority vote?
What I am basically asking is how many voting seats did the repubs have to make so much rubberstamping bills and how many more seats do the democrats need to get the power the repubs had and make these investigations push forward?

You err when you show only Republicans. The Democrats for the most part are as willing to let them kill and be killed. Ask Edwards, Clinton, and Obama what they mean when they say they will bring the troops home. They mean they will bring home only enough troops so that the PSAs can be enforced. They are both in it up to their eyeballs.

What's up with Geiger and the "Yellow Dog Democrat" t-shirts and advertisements.
I thought it was a joke at first, but no, it appears some Dems don't see the irony of taking on a symbol that many people associate with cowardliness.
With their repeated capitulation to Bush, the Dems have indeed proven themselves to be "yellow." How sad that they are proud enough of this to wear it on their chest.

The Democrats, for the most part, have a realistic understanding of the difficulties. The troops cannot be brought home instantly. The Democrats have been pushing for (1) a clear statement of measurable objectives in Iraq (2) determination of the most effective and least risky means by which to remove our troops once the objectives are met or once it is clear that the objectives cannot be met.
The President has been doing everything he can not to give measurable objectives so that he won't have to admit that it is time to put a plan in place to withdraw.
Of course, it's much easier to tar both parties with the same brush, isn't it?
I'm getting a feeling that none of the networks want the war to end. If they wanted it stop they could get it to stop. They are just as responsible for the troops death.
DNC USing GOP As Scapegoat To Continue War Funding
The above editorial cartoon depicting the GOP Senate, and their implicit "role" in problems has led me to reluctantly come to a sad conclusion: The DNC is not serious about ending this war, despite their 2006 voter mandate to do so. Let me show you why: Murtha's cutting of DoD Congressional liasion funding shows that the DNC can cut budgets. What's the excuse the DNC leadership has not heeded Murtha's example, and done the same for all Iraq related funding?
Blaming the GOP for this war isn't a sign of a credible position. The DNC could solve this problem: When the budgets are passed with the DNC markups, the GOP -- not the DNC -- would have to pass amendments to add money back; even if the President vetoes these budgets on Iraq, he'll still get nothing. Yet, I'm not hearing a good explanation: Murtha's example for DNC budget cutting of Iraq war funding. The war needs to end; the funding could end; so what's the story? It's not adding up.
If the DNC wanted to end this war, as We the People voted them into office to do, the answer is staring them in the face: DNC's Murtha has one solution the DNC leadership refuse to implement to end this war funding. Yet, confronting irresponsible leadership was one of the reasons the DNC were voted into office: To address and confront, not perpetuate as a national policy to justify reckless wars.
The DNC would rather blame the GOP than do what we the People told them to do: End the US support for this reckless war. Now: Cut the budget. Murtha knows how. DNC Members of Congress need to talk to him, and quit wasting time blaming the GOP.
That cartoon bothers me a bit. Everybody gets huffy when the other side uses soldiers as propaganda... and, honestly, even though the policies pursued by the gop do result in the deaths of men & women in the military, I highly doubt anybody is discounting the fact that they are dying. I think there's a way to do it, but... this cartoon is not the way.
The part I find funny about that cartoon is the fact that the angry soldier has an M-16 and looks ready to use it, the goppers dont seem to have knoticed that yet.
If you'll indulge me while I digress from the topic at hand, I have a little story to tell. A couple days ago I visited the site RedState.com, just to see, for once, what they were saying on the other side of the blogosphere. It was basically what you would expect. But at the same time, I'll admit, it was a mite intriguing. Here I was cavorting with the enemy, so to speak.
So, for the fun of it I decided to enter the fray and join the discussion. I commented. I blogged with abandon. I danced and weaved my arguments with great passion, and paried when attacked, which was often. It was just what I was in the mood for. All was going so well, I almost forgot about the potential pitfalls...
And then, it happened. I was banned. Upon trying to login at one point, I was informed that my username was blocked or deactivated. My heart sank. I couldn't believe it. Surely this was a mistake. They weren't actually THAT petty and cowardly, were they? But sadly, apparently it was so.
But I had experienced such heights of joy, I couldn't surrender so easily....I quickly created a new email address, and lickity-split I was back in action, blogging merrily away amongst the hordes of Fox-defenders and Bush-lovers, defying their simplistic arguments with actual evidence and critical thinking.
This was where I wanted to be! This was my calling! Maybe, just maybe, I could manage to turn one or two away from the ravages of Darth Cheney, and give them a glimpse of the light! Yes, I would show them the truth, and they would love me for it!!
But no, it was not meant to be. It happened again. After successfully sending through a particularly witty comment, I went on to write yet another, satisfying those deep urges like only blogging can. And then I was denied. My comment failed to be posted this time. I was informed, once again, that my username was no longer recognized, barely an hour after it had been created.
But it was even worse than that, my friends--much worse. I can barely even speak (errr...blog..) the words. So I'll just shout it out loud, for all to hear. I tried to reload their homepage, to see if at least my previous comments still remained, only to encounter......stark whiteness. Nothing. A mysterious, unrelenting vaccuum staring out at me. THEY BLOCKED MY COMPUTER!!!!!!!! The horror!!
Seriously, they blocked my computer from entering their site whatsoever. And no, folks, I was not using loads of four-letter words, threatening people with metaphorical uzis, or suggesting (like, for example, Bill O'Reilly once, on the air) that terrorists attacking a certain American city would be just fine. No, I was simply blogging away as bloggers do, opinionated and possibly annoying, but not much worse than that. But apparently, if you don't follow in single-file behind their right-wing credo, then you are not allowed to exist in their corner of the blogosphere.
So, my fellow progressives, I'm calling for action. If you feel the call, go to RedState.com. And......blog! Comment! Opine! Because, apparently, that is what they fear most.
And by the way, if you happen to be curious who this offending liberal is (because my comments might still be up there, they were from my first username) it's gabejedmo (or else gabejedmo1, my second username). Look around and you may find the faded shadow of my ghost lurking in the corners of that website, somewhat dejected, but certainly not down for the count. I'm simply keeping my profile low; awaiting the most auspicious time to come forth again and make my presence known. Because, god willing, I shall not cower in vain. I will not be pushed around by people in suits and ties, and pants-suits, and pants-ties (huh?), with perfectly-cropped side-burns, and glaringly-white teeth, and expensive watches, and fancy, silken underwear, and....well, whatever right-wingers wear. I will be back...I WILL BE BACK!!!
But, if not, maybe you will redeem me, stand up for freedom and help fight against the voices of tyranny (seriously) and blog a little for me. RedState.com. Check it out. And let them feel the wrath (but in a generally polite sorta way) of the liberal.

You may be right. If major newspapers listed daily combat deaths on page one, this pseudo-war might be over.
