Markos Moulitsas vs. Stephen Colbert

colbert-kos.jpg When a random commenter post something inflammatory on DailyKos.com, Markos endorses and assumes full responsibility for it, no? Well, according to Bill O'Reilly he does. Stephen and Kos squared off last night on this very question.

I'm glad markos is getting out there. Just look at that little puddum face. Is that the face of a hater? O'Reilly's face on the other hand, scares small children and furry animals.

Let me try that again....

How big is Bill O'Reilly (((and his hand taps the floor)))

trevjr's picture

Colbert made O'Reilly look like a total fool although O'reilly will never get the joke.
Props to Markos going on and being in on the joke.
The righties have no sense of humor, Kos has all this posted on his site.
Go to Kos to see that Colbert got an account and actually posted something
about Hungarians in advance.
Colbert shows his genius again!!

Bill is a very tall man, well over 6 feet tall.

Which makes his Napolean complex all the more hilarious.

I loved the flag and music lol

Is it just me or is this possibly the best Colbert report interview ever?

Not enough Sieg Hieling, you should have used that image Mister Admin.

Stephen's show was great and I, too, am glad to see Marcos out and about. He's taken to the soapbox with humility and passion. As for O'Rielly, he'll self-destruct before his audience turns against him or dies, and thus far he's been the catalyst that helps us, as progressives, gain more political strength. What a country.

Cobert = Genius x infinity.

O'Reilly = Perverted, pea-brained bully.

Meanwhile Guiliani proves once again Rethuglicans can dish it out but they can't take it http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070816/ap_on_el_pr/giuliani_family Remember all the GOP Clinton family bashing? One comment in particular comes to mind from Rush Limpballs after Clinton was first elected president: "There is a new dog in the White House...Chelsea Clinton!"

Thin skinned chickenhawk Republicans cant take it on or off the battlefield.

Bananaphone's picture

Incidentally, Colbert BETRAYS his Republican image! That was no Dell! That was a black-as-sin Macbook (beautiful and sexy, I might add).

Once you go Mac, you never go back. :)

Here is my favorite fantasy- when Larry King retires, that Colbert gets that time slot....sigh....and Bananaphone- MAC is always sexy ;-)

That music took me right back to the Blues Brothers and neo nazis flying thru the air in an old sedan...And for some reason, Henry Gibson from R&M laughin...Don't know why on that last...Classic... But then, I think that was the point eh Stevie....Good segment... Props to Kos for rolling with it.... Good to see humor still trying to hold up its end during these times.......Even if there's a slight whiff of whistleing past the graveyard...JD

this one was super funny....and he made a good point.Perhaps the repug sites should assume responsibility for some of their comments. That guy Ace over at the site with no name says some pretty inflammatory things...very bad...very,very bad...But then again we're talking Billo..

Come to think of it, O'Reilly and his lunatic rambling is probably the best thing to happen to Kos.

Kos may want to think about sending the Harrasturbater A big fat sloppy thank card-with the traffic jump stats.

With a big smiley face, thumbs up 'Couldn't have PAID for this kind of attention' message.

NewNameAcquired's picture

I don't listen to scum like O'Reilly, so I have to ask here: is it True Bill-O says that whatever is posted on Daily Kos is indeed Markos' own words, and/or beliefs?

My guess is, Bill-O says Markos agrees with what's posted because he doesn't take it down. And if you don't take it down, that can only mean that you're leaving it up.

In other words, if you allow someone to say something on a website, you're not just allowing it, you are condoning it.

Which is why it's so amazing that there are so many awful posts on Bill-O's site still.

And to "enigma4ever". I hope you capitalized all the letters in "Mac" because you were emphasizing it. You should know, since the Mac has been around for about 23 years now (the Macintosh came out in 1984) that it's spelling is an uppercase "M" and lowercase everything else. "Mac".

And to everyone else, just in case people here make the following mistake, it isn't "Ipod", "I-Pod", "i-pod", or "I-pod". It is... "iPod". The only uppercase letter in the title of that mp3 player is the "P". And there are no dashes of any kind. I've seen that mistake more than I'd like to. I hate it.

Also, there is no computer that goes by the name "Apple". "Apple" is the name of the company which makes the computer. I've seen that mistake before too.

In summery: Apple (formally Apple Computers) makes the "Mac" and the "iPod". Ok? Ok.

Smack_dab's picture

O'Reilly just needs to get a laugh track then his show would be more watchable. O'Reilly is his own best parody. Too bad so many are so dumb that they treat O'Reilly as something other than a joke.

I've seen outright death threats against other posters and politicians on right-wing blogs/BBS's (and I've been the target of some of those threats when I used to try to talk sense to the nutjobs). The last one I remember was some nutjob wishing death on every liberal as his vision of a final solution. That hatespeech is hardly ever removed (I've never seen a case where it was).

This is going to sound horribly unintellectual of me but:

Markos - you friggin rock sir. Good job!

Boba Fett's picture

omg Im in tears. that was friggin BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!

RagingGurrl's picture

Great interview. Markos is a sweetheart and they both looked like they had a good time.

Think about it, the right wing's heros are doughy Karl Rove, Limbaugh, the saggy O'Reilly, Novak, Oh please.
Markos, Stewart, Colbert, Soltz, Olbermann, Greenwald, to name just a few, can deflate these pompous airbags without even trying.

Face it, Progressives are cool. No wonder the neocons hate us so much...

IrresistibleB1tch's picture

Colbert for President!! :-D brilliant stuff!

I think the same sketch was on the "half hour comedy hour" but the delivery was completely different.

Does Markos get to keep the flag?

Dahgrostab'ph-r-i's picture

What a great sport...it's nice every once in a while to see someone on the Report that actually gets it...that's it's comedy...but it's always funnier when it's someone like Pappa Bear who knows there's something funny going on but isn't quite sure what it is.

Ok, serious... Could Colbert be any more friggin' hilarious than he already is?

I doubt it.

I've always been on the fence about Colbert, but I must give credit - nicely done. More of the same and I'd consider tuning in regularly.

the "Swastikos" is totally hilarious. Design genius.

I want to know what O'Reilly thinks if/when he sees this:

"No, they don't understand. Markos really is like Hitler. They must believe me! Sigh...I guess it is up to me to stop him. Time to take off my mild-mannered disguise and go after him alone, since Murika seems to be under his mind control powers. Watch out, Adolf Markos, here I come to save the day!"

paranoia's picture

Markos took a good shot at Colbert! With a nice smiling face. Its hard to imagine that sweetness is a Nazi! That was a great interview, and I only hope that maybe in the future, Colbert could do a performance at KOS next event.

Now, I am going to log onto my account right now, folks, and expose just how hateful this web site truly is. Let's see here: "Hungarians are dirty ghoulies who wash in peanut oil. Heil healthcare!!!" And ... post! Okay, now let's see what's on Dai...

Don Rettmann's picture

Hooray for Markos and his DailyKos!

I love that Bill O'Lielly was stupid enough to try to take them on. He ended up having his pants stripped off him, and getting spanked.

Senator Dodd was on O'Lielly's show when O'Lielly whined about DailyKos, and Dodd was great at smacking him down. O'Lielly turned into a whimpering blithering idiot.

O'Reilly must own stock in Daily Kos... otherwise it's just pathetic to see the old Senator McCarthy-impersonator trying to be hip by going after the "internets"....

Don't forget that Markos is CIA. He will gain your trust and then be used when the big lies are to be catipulted. The same goes for Lou Doobs.

Yes, Bill O'Reilly is providing publicity about the open democratic forums of Kos because the liberals are afraid of democracy. That is why the left wing feels the need to crush Kos and democracy. Brilliant!

Markos should be honored in all the free publicity the BillO gives him. BillO's smears of DailyKos are ridiculous and laughable. Only his brain dead followers eat up these lies like candy.

Cowards and mental midgets like that have to change what is written and hide behind those who will speak their mind. Otherwise the world finds out that they have no coherent thoughts of their own.

When we talk about Kos and his alleged disassociation from the hate comments on his web site, do we take into account Kos's comments about the contractors killed in Iraq? Those were his direct statements, similar to the other comments on his site.
