Rudy Targets Hillary In New Ad

It's an interesting approach at this point for Rudy to take, although I question its effectiveness. First the whole "flip-flopping" meme is so done, and one need only look at Bush's approval ratings to see howt inflexible certitude in the face of new information goes over. Further, who is this ad trying to convince? Does Rudy truly think there are voters straddling the fence between him and Hillary who will buy into the "MoveOn/Support the Troops until the job is done" talking points?
UPDATE: Uh oh, Rudy...you didn't get permission to use that image in your ad, did you?

Hey, I'm all for this ad. If Republicans want to spend their money during the primaries attacking the DLC candidate-- the only person who could hand them the presidency in '08, by the way-- then I'm all for it. Go Rudy, you cross-dressing fascist nutball.
What utter BS. I have some problems with Hillary Clinton also but this is crap. She was lied to before the war, like we all were. And since when is "questioning" the military strategy a shameful crime? This whole Petreus as conquering general-hero-god who we dare not question in any way, it's juvenile and absurd.
If anyone listens to this, it's beyond belief. The right wingers think that saying "Boo! Troops!" will always work to scare Democrats back into their holes, let's hope they stop falling for it some day.
We need an ad showing Rudy in drag that says "Rudy's not gay, he never has been gay"
This reminds me of something I read last week, about one of Rove's aids giving an interview about how they were afriad of Edwards in 2004, so they started hammering Kerry knowing that it would rally support for him.
I would be happy to have Hillary as President, but she's not my first choice. I think they want to talk about HIllary's Iraq vote so no one looks into the other Dem issues.
yes, I agree the troops need an apology..... from the General for not caring about the truth and their best interest.
is seem to me that NOT questioning military leaders is what got us here. rudy just wants more of the blindfaith follow the leader approach.
why don't she and everyone else leave gen. yellow ass kissing chicken shit alone?
what did rudy have to say about the swiftboaters? anyone have a link?
The big question this ad raised, one that begs an answer from whoever created it:
What job is it that our troops must finish?
The clip doesn't "play" for me, but I'm assuming it has to do with the red herring betrayal hoopla. Rudy is just milking a non story for all it's worth. Since when is it wrong to question our military leaders? They aren't god, they're just human beings who are as apt to be wrong or swayed as much as anyone else.
Move.on and Clinton are attacking the messenger. Go after Bush/ Cheney. It is their clusterfuck. Petraeus is just another 'change of underwear' general for Cheney to manipulate spawned from an assembly line of mouthpieces like Franks and Casey.
Hilary needs to learn how to 'stay above the fray'. A technique that Rove used with great results installing the 'Idiot Bastard Son' Bush into the WH.
Rudy should concentrate on his Republican rivals, don’t you think? He won’t even win the gay sex loving Neocon Christian right nomination.
Sick of it @ 2:
I knew the Bush Administration's case for invading Iraq was bullshit, and the aftermath was certain to be a disaster, and I'm just a working stiff who occasionally reads a decent newspaper. Anyone who says they were fooled by the Bush team in 2002 is either too stupid for me to support, or too dishonest.
Is it just me or is that whoosh/thunderclap sound and fast fade-to-black they use between scenes reminiscent of the Daniel Pearl video? It's probably not intentional. I am no video editing expert. It's probably just a stock effect. (I'm not being ironic. Just wondered if anyone else was struck by the similarity. It gave me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.)
If there's one thing the GOP base agrees upon, it's that they hate them some Hillary. This is a win for Giuliani. It lets him avoid talking about all the other things that he doesn't have in common with the base.
RUDY NEEDS TO BE MORE CONCERNED WITH WHAT OUTFIT HE'S SPORTING TONIGHT. THAT dude is a little too interested in wearing women's clothing if you ask me. do it once or twice, even thrice over a number of years, no problem, any more than that and it's a fettish...not that there's anything wrong with that.
two points:
1) hillary is a bad candidate and helped start this horrendous war. there were millions of people that saw through the disinformation and lies spewed from the white house and the GOP before iraq. and either she did not see thru the lies or she played politics with the issue and voted for something that she knew was a lie. either way, i still have hope that the dems do not nominate her, as she does NOT deserve it.
2) rudy is a 911-profiteer. his reborn political political career is built on the deaths of those that died on 911. for rudy, 911 has been the best thing to ever happen to him. the money, the fame, the power, the potential--all based on the fact that he was the unpopular mayor from a city that he left unprepared for the attacks on 911. and, i agree, his decision to attack hillary during the primary season is odd.
Captain Kangaroo @ 12:
I got a-head (no pun intended) myself there.
Rudy should concentrate on his Republican rivals, don’t you think? He won’t even win the gay sex loving, transvestite, bathroom trolling, anti abortion, one wife for a lifetime, Neocon, let’s find a new war, big deficit spending, whore mongering, congressional male intern chasing, disaster milking, cowardly, lying, cheating, Christian right nomination.
I do not like Hillary but it seems obvious to me what Rudy (otherwise known as the Lady in Red) is attempting to do. He knows the most rabid members of the right hate Hillary so if he attacks her maybe they will back him. Rudy knows the issues are not important and neither are the facts. Emotion will carry the day.
Hard to get upset at this one. Hillary may not be as bad as Rudy, but she's just making excuses about how she was lied to.
Captain Kangaroo @ 12:
I think that's probably why he's there. I get the feeling that some of the Repub candidates are just there to throw mud around so the eventual nominee will have clean hands when Iowa rolls around. It would explain the dumb shit some of them are doing.
Researchers have noted a disturbing phenomena. It seems that we Americans are getting progressively more stupid.
Now this is what a political ad should look like...
http://www.milkandcookies.com/link/67889/detail/
Rudy has no choice. But he will alienate voters with negative ads, and he may attract some. but it's over-arching support for the Iraq War and Bush's waging of it that will leave voters to go elsewhere. he is not the right man for the moment. he is Bush-over-the-top. if he gets the job of Prez he will ratchet up the fearmongering, the divisiveness, the international alienation, and the loss of more civil rights. yes, it is that simple. he just wants the power and will do whatever it takes to keep it. he will bomb iran, and he will demonize anyone who disagrees with him. the man is unfit and really rather inexperienced to hold the job he seeks. there is no reason to live in fear, but thats all he has. there is a reason to fear him as president. he must be stopped. and i hope he is. slime, slander, do whatever it takes to ruin him.
L.A. Confidential @ 20:
I'd say we're getting conservatively more stupid.
Doug @ 3:
No we need an ad like this
Who did you spend a part of 9/11 with Rudy. The families of the victims or the woman who slandered them Ann Coulter?
So you either support the troops or support MoveOn.org? That's really the new GOP talking point? Lol Jesus...
"General Petraeus and the brave men and women now serving under him deserve an apology... and our nation deserves better - Senator Clinton."
*cue Clinton photo*
"Do the right thing."
CatAtomic
I didn't buy the war story either and was actively opposed to the invasion from before it even started. I agree with you that anyone gullible enough to have believed them was a fool. But this ad portrays things as if she only changed her mind because it became campaign season, and I think it's nonsense. She belatedly saw what you and I knew from the start, that the case for war was fabricated entirely, as the truth came out to the point where no one could evade it any longer.
I see her as another Bush enabler who only slowly saw through his plans, which is unforgiveable. I don't however see her as having created the whole BS story herself, then changing to another story out of expediency later, which is what the clips imply. This is reserved for the administation, who simply made it up as they went along, knowing entirely what they were doing.
It's pathetic what they are trying to do. They have tried to morph the moveon ad into Hillary and now they are trying to morph Hillary into the moveon organization. Circle jerking seems to be the right's favorite game. No offense to Larry Craig intended.
Rudy's ad is trying to ride on the coattails of the demand that Hillary apologize for her war vote. Seriously desperate move. Why does the Right always demand apologies but never deliver any of their own?
Dirty Hippie Blogger @ 21:
Definitely worth watching. :)
We ain't with you Rudy. I guess we object to your making million$ off the 9-11 tragedy.
Had Rudy not been the mayor of NYC on 9-11, no one today would remember his name. He owes a lot to that awful day. In fact that day and those deaths are all he has going for him. Hell of a thing to run on, in my opinion. He walked down the street wearing a mask to protect his lungs. So what else did he do?
Don't like Hillary...........Don't like Hillary......
gee whiz....don't the men out there have a macho roar.....Seems to me that the men in this country have screwed the hell out of it.............are they afraid that a woman might show them up...or are they all gonna run out and buy a codpiece like bush and think that makes them 'IT' ...get real.
Hillary Clinton will make a good of a president as any of the democratic candidates. I will be happy with any one of them.
If only the spineless Dems would learn from the Repugs, and go on the attack.
Marge, I'm with you. I'll put up any one of our candidates against all the Repub. candidates. God knows, a woman couldn't do a worse job than some of the men who have led this country. It's time for a female to take the wheel, as least if she gets lost she won't be afraid to stop and ask directions. ;)
The crossdressing Rudy you feature below doesn't bother me.
THIS is the deceiving Rudy I can't stand.
Kind of a win-win for Rudy to place this ads.
either people will fall for the attack and hate Hillary, or that it will give her more credibility just knowing how much the GOP hate Hillary, so that us Dems fool will vote her in to get back at the GOP.
I think both Candidate are moot, and I would vote for the peaceful minded Kucinich into office.
Marge @ 32:
That is a piss poor argument if ever there was one. My decision to vote against Hillary in the primaries is not gender based but policy based.
Come up with a better argument than, "She couldn't possibly screw things up any more than men have." Because in the final analysis, she can. But not because of her gender.
She is a pure politician and that worries me more than even the rankest amature we can find.
The other thing that bothers me is:
Reagan
Reagan
Bush
Clinton
Clinton
Bush
Bush
Clinton
Clinton
This does not resemble democracy but dynasty.
Despite the grand possibility that Hillary changed her opinion for purely political reasons is not who this ad is targeting....The ad targets us, the post-9-11 citizen of the US. The powers that be do not want us to change our opinion or position. To them it is best that we never think and shift positions. It is best that we hold firm, stay the course, if you will... If we think (it's unacceptable to think) we just might see behind the curtain and see the ineptitude of our government and the purse strings will be rather evident and we will know we've been snookered.
WE ROAM HERE TOGETHER
We roam together in this; our riveted unknown
And witness the same startling things;
The wonder of the primordial heavens,
The splendor of free will,
The blemish of a child’s perfection,
The rousing opera, the sprinkles of dream,
The ambush of cruel impostors
Standing in their steel towers
Watching our malevolent worship.
We lounge about in our sightlessness
Paying no heed to the bright and living carnage.
Our joyless lips will soon sound off
In self-made caverns of want
While our souls, on crutches made of profit,
Fall headlong into the throes of extinction.
We all see the same cruelty in this unknown,
Yet we’re lashing our mottled resolve
To the limbs of boneless villains.
So why do we stand agape,
Flop-jawed in eyeful dread
When our flowers bloom
With petals shaped like chains?
xoites defends Constitution @ 37:
i completely agree with this. turning this into a sexist-based argument is pure tomfoolery. this has nothing to do with her gender, but everything to do with her judgment, or lack thereof.
the democratic party needs to get away from corporate leaning, DLC-led track it has been on for years--which hillary represents.
Xoites,
Right on. As an examples we have Condoleeza Rice, Karen Hughes, Harriet Meiers and Bay Buchanan. Hillary's well documented record of lies and pandering to the war mongers has only given the repugs plenty of ammunition. She is a corporate tool who lied to us just as much as Bush, et al. She takes donations from criminals. She has no plan for helping Iraq after we withdraw troops. Same with the rest of them. All but Kucinich, who was banned from democratic campaign activities in Iowa this week even thugh his numbers are greater than Dodd and Biden, who WERE invited. The democratic party is JUST THE SAME AS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
But this is all part of the circus that will be the presidential election of 2008.
just when we were about to win, eh?
Che's Lounge @ 41:
"She takes donations from criminals."
That is the only thing i take exception to. Not willing to blame a donation recipient for the unknown actions of a donor.
I found something odd in this ad.
He seemed to really really like that picture of her with her hands on her glasses. I think it was in there a couple of times.
When I saw that I though she looked so presidential. Not standing on a ranch somewhere in blue jeans but a smart person contemplating something very deeply.
Look people voted Bush because they wanted to have a beer with him. Hillary looks, acts and speaks like a president.
Also using her vote for the war against her is insane. She voted that way based on the information she had. She is not back tracking either. She has NOT flip flopped like Edwards. Her point is that she like us was mislead. Simple. Rudy failed on this ad and will fail in the general once his shady past comes out. His failures on 9/11 are huge, his cheating on his wife while mayor is a big issue.
I hope he goes against Hillary in the general election. She will eat that idiot alive.
nativeokie @ 44:
nope.
ignoring that she DID vote for the war, when there were millions that marched, protested, wrote, called and emailed is insane. to discount this vote and her support in the lead up to the war is insanity.
if hillary is that gullible and unwilling to understand issues as large as preemptive wars, how could anyone claim that she is fit to be president?
will she be fooled again? is she that easy to trick?
i submit that she is not. she is 10x's smarter than the majority of americans, and--sorry to say--i think that she voted for the iraq war not out of principle, or b/c she was confused, but b/c she knew exactly what she was doing. she knew that coming out against the iraq war, way back when, was a risky political move. and she chose to protect her 'national security credentials' over voting against this god awful war.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4733BaXdt0Y
Rudy erased all of the negative comments.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4733BaXdt0Y
The left wing's problem is that we pick indiscriminately on any repub contender. Instead we should pick out which realistic candidate for president we would abhor the least on the opposing ballot and hold back on him. This is the only way over time to move the whole spectrum to the left. The right have already made their choice, and that's - as we know - Hillary. Only Rudy is really attacking Hillary because he already sees himself getting the nomination against her. Which is our repub candidate? Is it Rudy?
There the right foes again, making more money for moveon.org
The more they show how much it's bothered them, I bet more and more of the left are donating.
Of course Giuliani's just trying to help Hillary Clinton.
I'm sick of the other Democrats running, for not attacking her.
Nobody with a name like Giuliani, or Rudy, especially a crook named those things will ever be president or even get the nomination. The GOP, defending the criminal acts of the crime family will not be elected to office for the next several yearl. We the people have had enough and it is obvious that we are smarter than the entire 28% which must be made up of crooks, liars, cowards, and MORONS! Who do you think Dubya is talking to when he makes these stupid speeches?
kasinca @ 51:
Nobody with a "C" average will ever get in either...
If the neocons want to swift boat the only one of their own running for President as a Democrat, I welcome it. Too bad they didn't do this to Lieberman in 2004, maybe he wouldn't have won Senate reelection.
thrice married cross dresser Rudy is doing all he can to suck up to the world net daily mouth-breathers
I really do wish Hillary's campaign will respond with a AD that target Rudy in this manner?
" Rudy, your recent Ad of attacking my credibility is in fact the same thing you seem to be accusing MoveOn.com of accusing Gen Petraeus of.
It is obvious that you have nothing good to say of your own attributes and cannot elevate your stature when you have no honor of your own to campaign on. When will you run on your own record and accomplishments. "
" I suggest Rudy begin with meeting with the NYC Fire Fighters Union. "
Samson
This quote from your response I believe is wrong.
"ignoring that she DID vote for the war, when there were millions that marched, protested, wrote, called and emailed is insane. to discount this vote and her support in the lead up to the war is insanity."
The anti war movement really started after the war began. During the lead up the protest were rather small and insignificant.
Once it started and it became clear there were no WMD's and the American people were lied to it changes, for the better.
That was not the case when the senators were voting for the war. Again it was her vote and she owns it and has owned it. I don't see the problem. Your candidates that voted against it are the same people who vote against any military action. They did not do something brave, they simply voted as they always vote.
xoites defends Constitution @ 44:
With all the money that Hsu was coming up with on short notice, it was incumbent upon the Hillary forces to vet this guy and make sure he was not going to be another Jack Abramoff. She left herself open (once again) to right wing attacks. Hsu's fund raising was apparently legitimate. But Hillary's campaign workers should be acutely aware of the repug penchant for assigning guilt by association. This will come back to haunt her. Will she have the chutzpah to put just one picture of Giuliani in drag on her attack ads? Or will she let the netroots do her dirty work for her and then distance herself from them?
The anti war movement really started after the war began. During the lead up the protest were rather small and insignificant.
That is blatantly incorrect. There were MASSIVE marches in the weeks leading up to the invasion in many countries, including the US. Literally tens of millions of people worldwide were in the streets, once they realized it was a done deal.
One day America will wake up and see these slimebags for what they are. They cannot address the issues with truth and integrity, but they can attack their Democratic opponents with vile lies and half truths. I don't particularly like Hillary Clinton, but I'd vote for her in a heartbeat against any right wing Republican.
Fruity Rudy.
Now, wait. Even tho this ad is irrational and only the diehard 29% are too thick to notice, were I running this shithead's campaign (he'll fail in any case) I would add the relevent Clinton l80degree turn she made december '06.
Anybody else remember that town hall meeting when she told the guy in the audience to "vote for someone else" if he didn't like her position to keep the Iraq war funded and stocked with troops. That was just 9 months ago, not 2002 (when the dem congress & senate were just as stupid as she was, and are making a slow recovery from their stupor).
The guy in the audience told her he would be more inclined to believe her plans for domestic recovery if she would just clarify her real position on the Iraq war. She gave him the same old pap the bush admin. vomits and just stopped short of telling the guy to fuck himself if he didn't like it.
Now she's all dressed in pink to mask her inherent cynical lust for power whatever the fuck she has to say to get it.
It's all part of the attempt to whip up the "base" with an I hate Hillary ad. Hillary fear is rapidly becoming the GOP's last gasp. Rudy will use it to try and get the nomination.
www.joinrudy08.com, I went to rotten Rudy's website and clicked on about Rudy. There is no mention of his kids, Rudy you don't get a pass, on how you treated your second wife or how you lied about, not knowing your first wife was your cousin. Will someone else please read about Rudy from his website, and tell me, what is missing? Better yet, if there are any Rudy supporters here, I would love to know what you think.
Flip-flopping is whe you change your stance on abortion depending on the audience you're talking to that day.
To change your opnion about the war, from 2002, when the world was barraged with a false information blitz, to today, where we can see quite easily the lies and deception put forth by this administration right the way along, are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. Almost every American supported "the war" (some sort of vengeance) after 9/11. (Maybe even some here?) I almost did. I was damn angry too, but I never support war, ever. (I did think about-- what if they bombed Mecca, so I'm no innocent!!!)
PS: changing your opinion about something like a war is only the prudent thing people do as new information comes along. To be stuck in the same idiotic ideology, and to follow the same unworkable path, after 5 years, LIKE BUSH IS DOING, is a sign of an incurious moron. Sure, he surged, but that orgasm is over George. Wake up!
Edwin @ 64:
We have such short memories. Hillary was publicly for the war
just 9 months ago!
bush clinton bush clinton bush clinton bush clinton bush clinton bush clinton....1980 to 2012?
doesnt' THIS bother anyone?
crazylove @ 60:
I remember that, and that is just one of the reasons Hillary will not get my vote. It has nothing to do with her being female, but everything to do with her being a lifelong political hack with the same ties to corporate America as the ReTHUGs do.
I hate hillary clinton. Al Gore, where are you?
home remodeling cost bathroom remodeling ripley ms
Thanks for all the good ideas.
I find it funny that a country that is suppose support freedom of speech.. is condemming it over an witty ad. Is this what it coems down to, the candidant to win is suppose to disapprove things in the press that doesn't regard 'FACTS' in order to win?
I heard about Rudy's ad but could not find it in Women's Wear Daily.
nativeokie @ 56:
this is just plain incorrect. the were HUGE antiwar marches before the war was started. i know, as i was a part of them. maybe you didn't hear about them (see, MSM media black out), but that does not mean they didn't happen.
hillary knew of them. she knew that the intel was flawed and skewed, and yet she chose political triangulation over the truth. while this might be a brave move to you, it most definitely is not to me.
