Romney's Ties To Venezuela and Iran

Ruh Roh...

Mitt Romney has been trying to court Republican voters by attacking the Governments of Venezuela and Iran and, in the case of Iran, urging divestment. It seems that Romney hasn't been as forthcoming about his ties to Hugo Chavez and Venezuela's oil company. [..]

Romney has also been calling for divestment from Iran. Last week it was reported that Romney had more than $250,000 invested in Iran. Just another set of flip-flops from Romney?

250,000.is chump change to a guy like Romney..but I am curious about him and Chavez. And it certainly looks like he has been less than honest with his disclosure.I wonder how the gop will view him now. After what Chavez did at the UN...it's gotta hurt him somehow.

Mitt (the twit) Romney is just another lying, hypocritical Republican. How can he face the people with this overt and personal level of hypocrisy?

Leave it to The MIttless....

Regards,

That was the greatest campaign slam I've seen this cycle yet.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's right on par with the Republicans saying "I oppose equal rights for gay people...now if you'll excuse my I need to use this public restroom" - or "We should do away with affirmative action...but my C student will enjoy college as a legacy!" - this is just another case where Republicans show they have no morals and no ethics.

That last line knocked me down!

That is actually part of the initiation rites he was required to pass to get into "the club."

And no one cares.....

....and knows about it....

....if the main stream media asks about it. Come on! Never has there been an easier goal to score@!

Bottom line: Republicans are liars and simply cannot be trusted.

Romney has ties to Blackwater, Iran and Venezuela and people like Roger Simon swoon over his shoulders

No need to appoligize.

I don't think there is anyone on the planet who is not inside Burma/Myanmar who believes anything the ruling Junta says (and very few inside.)

Okay, this will sound like a ridiculous question but I honestly am curious..... given that the 30%'ers, ---you know, the utterly brainless ones who somehow manage to keep the shrub and his ilk in power--- seem to have some influence over the supposed democratic majority which repugnican candidate seriously has the best shot of being nominated? Seriously, just curious...as repulsive as that seems to even consider. Who do you think will get it?

SpankyTheMonkey -"which repugnican candidate seriously has the best shot of being nominated?"
Killer Hillary.

My guess would be Ghouliani. I don't think any of them has a chance in hell of winning, but the 30% dead-enders are just ignorant enough to buy the Rudy the hero of 9/11 B.S.

250k? That's pocket change for Romney. As much I can't stand the guy, this isn't some huge conspiracy.

Poor Mitt. I can see him in the streets crying and yelling "But I'm TALL and I've got great hair and good teeth! Everything you need in a future king... er president!"

Thank you Crooks & Liars dot com!

It didn't go quite where I thought it was headed ... There are some things money can't buy ... Mitt Romney is one of them.

I just love the comments found just below the linked article. The commentors made little to no remarks regarding Romney's ties to Russia's mostly state owned monopoly company Gazprom or China's CNOOC. Both of which, are well known to have business ties to Iran and are quite open about it in fact. Those commentors sure did remark however about Iran's meddling in Iraq among other things. I guess they just can't bring themselves to notice that Romney is helping to fund those very same "evildoer" Iranians that they keep harping about.

I don't care for Romney much either but come on, he was investing in Russia and Chinese oil companies. You guys don't seem to understand the world of investments. You buy these things to make money because you know a good trend is in place (energy, emerging markets). You don't pay attention to details like what are all the different projects these companies are running.

Stay focused on the real issues like how Romney doesn't seem to support the Constitution.

Mr. Romney is only saying what the little voices tell him to say. He's phony.

C'mon C&L, don't you want a guy to be president who has so much money that he can't even keep track of where it all is?

Why the outrage?
He said do as I say, NOT, do as I do.
These are his instructions to YOU.
Republicuns direct, not follow.

Oh, I think we all know how this works. Yes, it is about making money and if one really wants to break it down, Romney's cash goes to Gazprom and CNOOC who then may use that investment money to purchase contracts with Iranian state owned energy companies. The Iranians then use that money from those state owned Iranian companies to help fund other oil projects or it may go to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps for example.

I might also add that Venezuela's natural resource companies are for the most part all state owned as well. Which means, the state gets a large portion of the profits. They in turn, as we saw Hugo Chavez do many times, turn right around and purchase large amounts of weaponry with that money. Hell Romney, the tough talking chickenhawk is indirectly supplying those same states with a ready source of money and his supporters don't even see it or if they do, they are definately ignoring it. It works the same way with Cheney's Halliburton. They do the same thing. War definately is a racket as General Butler once said.

Hey...quit picking on mitt. Can't you see his five boys are all sacrificing for his preznitsy? he's probably worried sick about what they had for breakfast and whether or not they got a shower in the morning.

This guy is absolutely a joke. Everyone of these repug candidates is a joke. It's almost like watching a clown show. I can hardly wait for their next debates...all the clowns lined up together.

God help America!!

The devil is in the details.

If there is one thing I've noticed of Romney's campaigning since it began.

is that he does quite a lot of telling you and me what we shouldn't do, what we can have foing on. He doesn't speak positive of what his ideas are. Just more condemning of others to make himself look better in his eyes and maybe some will believe that soiling pants campaign style of the desperate.

What does Romney feel he should do and abide by for himself?

Most of Romney is what other people should do, But not him.

Dear Idiots,

$250k is rounding error, not an investment, you fucking peasants.

Sincerely,

Mitt

Sorry, but that's idiotic. The Russian and Chinese oil companies - especially the Chinese - are engaged in a desperate rush to buy up resources all over the developing world. The Chinese recently bought the biggest known undeveloped oil fields in the world, in Sudan and Kazakhstan. Sudan is a bloodbath, and China is propping up a genocidal government there. Chinese companies - including oil and mining companies - are supporting the criminal regime of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe so they can buy up mineral rights there on the cheap. The same thing is happening elsewhere in Africa.

Russian oil companies, including Lukoil, are controlled by the Kremlin. They are a tool for Russia's newly aggressive foreign policy.

The amounts Romney is investing in these companies may be little more than a rounding error relative to his total net worth, but it says a lot about the guy that he continues to hold these investments while he is in a race for the presidency.

And what a hyprocrite Mitt is! Thanks for sharing the video, Nicole, on the scum. And the music and song lyrics fit right in with the video. LOL!

There are 3 million people in Venezuela that will kill you with their bare hands. That is how evil the White Man is there.

You guys killed them for years and ruled their country like a slave plantation. Go ahead... attack them. I would love to watch them claw you eyes out you warmongers.

and yet another gop scumbag lieing bastard. do what i say and not what i am doing to screw America. fuck mitt and his chickenhawk sons.

The more I discover about Mitt - the more I consider him to be the most WORTHY to be the next US President!!!!

He symbolizes all that is/was great about George W, George Snr, Reagan and Nixon.

And he has 5 wonderful sons who have made great sacrifices in the war on terror - to campaign for him!

If Mitt is elected - I am sure he will bring back conscription, polygamy and segregation!
And of course he will overturn Roe vs Wade and best of all - lynching blacks, stoning adulterers and shooting homosexuals!

YEY! Mitt Romney for me!!!

As a MA resident, take my word for it- As governer- Mitt was awful-Mitt is an empty suit- his views simply echo those of whatever audience he is in front of- when he speaks to liberals, he claims to be liberal- when in front of conservatives, he claims to be one of them-= The term 'pathological liar' comes to mind..

I was in Venezuela last year on vacation and thought it was a pretty nice country i only got to stay a short time since we went with princess cruises there were other places planned on the trip. They got cheap gas and are a stable country to visit i'd go again.
