Sunday Talking Head Thread

The Sunday talking head line-up is ready for reading. It's a whole lot of not much this morning, I have to say. Any bets on whether Timmeh will ask Mary Matalin about her former boss Dick Cheney and her former co-worker Scooter and “the latest maybe they did, maybe they didn’t tell him to lie” floater from Scotty McLellan? Yeah, me neither. Have you ever seen a more annoyingly self-referential and self-serving line-up? Yeah, me neither. Not enough coffee in the whole world.
Beyond that, it’s a whole lot of “here come the primaries,” with a sprinkling of foreign policy for spice. In short, not a lot of surprises, but the Zinni interview could be the surprise of the day. Guess we’ll see.
To make up for the dud of a line-up, do yourself a favor and shake up your morning with some Celia Cruz (YouTube) and an impressive musical line-up behind her as well. Guaranteed to get you up and moving for the day. What's catching you eye on the blogs and in the news?

If you've been waiting to get an HDTV, today would be a good day to sit back, relax on your couch with your favorite weapon, and shoot the sh*t out of all the talking heads who annoy you.
Then, bright and early tomorrow, you can get on the phone and order a new HDTV (or not, if you decided TV isn't worth watching), and/or a carpenter to rebuild the wall that used to be behind your old TV.
Maybe install an aquarium, at least the bubbling boobs in an aquarium are silent.
We are off to watch the motorcycle club do their toy run for underprivileged children. Every rider will have a big stuffed toy animal tied to the their cycle. There will be hundreds of riders and when they crank up all those cycles, the noise is amazing. Cheap thrills and all, plus it's for a good cause. :)
I do look forward to the interview with Bill Richardson on "This Week" though.
The real story "down under": John Howard's "boomerang."
The Aussies and the Pols are the next to pull out of the "coalition of the willing", The Bush Propoganda Machine says everything is duckie in Baghdad.
The signs of progress are falling in line just as Bush predicted............so lets get the f%&& outta there already!!!!
Thompson just sank himself on FnS on the subject of Roe v Wade.
FT: "States will have the right to pass laws even Fred Thompson disagrees with."
CW: "But that's the essence of the 'pro-choice' crowd."
FT: "No, it allows states to pass more 'restrictions'."
More restrictive than "no abortion at all?" And it DOES mean some states can make it legal if they want.
Thompson just criticized Rudy's "New York City values."
Kiss NY goodbye.
Damn, Thompson is getting defensive!
CW is pounding him on all the Conservatives that are criticizing him. :)
Lindsey Graham on FnS: "History will remember this as THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COUNTER INSURGENCY IN HISTORY."
Mugsy @ 9:
Did he define "successful"?
Radically Moderate @ 10:
He set a new target date for signs of progress to "January" (I forget if he said 08 or 09.) If we don't see political progress by then, we can start making adjustments. :)
more airtime welfare for Lindsey Graham
Matalin looks better now that she has more of her hair covering more of her face. The final improvement will come when she wears her wig backwards, or the cameraman shoots her exclusively from the rear.
Did she win her class this year at The Westminster show?
On the subject of Peace in Israel, Hume said about the Palestinan's on the West Bank: "Run by a bunch of hoodlums" and seems to suggest that peace between Israel and Palestine is "impossible".
So then what?
Preacher Boob @ 13:
I apologize, that was mean and cruel. She's actually much prettier than Carville.
(Well, somewhat prettier)
Who is "Chris van Hollin"? Next week on FnS, he'll be debating Rove.
"Fair & Balanced"?
Radically Moderate @ 10:
So far "history", "Counter insurgency", and "success" have all been redefined at one point. BushCo will be remembered as "the most successful goal post movers in history."
We're going down the tubes.
Lies, corruption, ignorance, delusion, fear, paranoia, mistrust, sinking dollar, debt, sinking banks, war, crime, poisoned food chain, lead toys, cult of celebrity, cult of personality . . . . . . .

L.A. Confidential @ 18:

Don't forget the new cult of air guitar (guitar hero).
My wife and I were just discussing Black Box's in newer cars and trucks. And GPS locators.More intrusion into our privacy....and a better deal for the insurance companies.I was told that the one in my truck(black box)goes on a 24 hour loop. Why don't I believe that? After the topic of cell phones and the companies archiving the info they get.....why wouldn't they do the same with vehicles.I passed on the "on star" kinda thing....no thanks....I can read a map.
Why does MTP have her on? All she did was make campaign speaches for Thompson.

republicanisim ,the party of douchebag whorshipers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mugsy @ 8:
ThinkProgress just posted the clip. :)
I just can't stand the Sunday Morning horseshit anymore. It has been the same Kabuki theatre for the past seven years. Predictable, agenda driven, fearful, boring, and most of all, bad television. I never lived in the Soviet Union, but I would think that the propagandists who managed Tass and Izvestia would look with drooling envy at what has been accomplished by Cheney/Rove in the past seven years(actually this kind of faux journalism began with the Starr witch hunt of Bill Clinton). Did any of the shows(and they are shows in the traditional sense of the word) touch the McClelland story ?

You aren't in Albuquerque by any chance, are you?
Time for me to chime in here again...
Long, long ago, I used to watch all the Sunday talking head shows so I would be 'informed." That was, of course, utter bullshit. And watching this stuff to "document the atrocities," as Atrios always urges, is also utter bullshit: you KNOW what these people are going to say, period. You know this. It's not anything to guess at. You could write a report of the Sunday shows w/o watching a single minute of any program. And pointing out that this or that stupid wingnut said something stupid (duh) doesn't bring the nation any closer to enlightenment. Now, if every one of us who disagreed with the stupidity and bullshit simply left the teevee sets cold -- every one of us, mind you -- the ratings would plummet, advertising would dry up, and the producers would have to respond to true majority opinion.
Nahgonnahappen, though, is it? Because it's easier to point out the flaws of an idiot than build a new world.
Furthermore, watching these things only used to make me mad and depressed all day long. Right now I'm watching a flock of piñon jays mobbing my bird feeder. This is pure joy.
Bye now...
As a form of self-flaggelation, in atonement for my less-than-reverent approach to the CrazyChristianEvangelicalFundamentalistBornAgainBoobRapturist contingent, I watched all the Sunday morning talk shows this morning, and I learned just two things:
1. They don't DO anything, they just talk, and
2. I'm dumber, and less informed now, than I was before I started watching.
Why the heck was Mary Matalin on MTP? She's actively working for the Thomson campaign (the only one with a dog in the race) and spent most of her time pimping Thomson.
Obviously MTP has an agreement with Carvel/Matalin that if one is on the other is on, but JEEBUS why allow THIS.
Russert lost another chance for a balanced panel.
I especially enjoyed Brig.-Gen. David Grange's appearance on Wolf Bitzer. Grange is the only one with any new ideas, such as co-opting both the terrorists and the middleman heroin traffickers by simply buying up the Afghan poppy crop on site. This would serve many purposes. First, it would win hearts and minds (rather than spraying the crops with toxic substances like Agent Orange). Second, it would drive the Taliban crazy. Third, it would provide a cheap source of poppy to the pharmaceutical industry. Fourth, with any luck, it would make opiates more available both at the drug stores and on the street in the U.S. Finally, it would give that fat swine Lush Rambo better chances of scoring oxycontin.
RobertD, nope, I'm in Fla. Just after I made that comment here it started to rain so we didn't go after all.
Mother Bush's WATER BOARDED TURKEY secret recipe
I never watch MTP when Mary Matalin, the she-devil, is on.
Wow, someone likes their coffee light. Is that a cup of coffee or cream?
