Is Bush capable of anything else?

We've heard those 'folksy distortions' before from the right wingers. The only problem is that we have actionable intelligence that they have screwed this country up.

knud's picture

It's a sad day when a former lobbyist for AIPAC is the "left-wing" in US political debate. I'm of course talking about Wolf Blitzer.

Sorry, but I can't watch more than a few seconds of it. Wolfie boy and Jack Cafferty are without a doubt two of the most arrogant television stick people currently on the networks. And Bush? He'll say anything to try and get some attention. Hell, FoxSnooze is reporting he is hanging out the WhiteHouse window yelling "I still be da Preznit" LOL.

bersonality's picture

How, as Dana Bash stated, is Bush astute (Oxford American Dictionary: having or showing an ability to accurately assess situations or people and turn this to one’s advantage) when his comments were false? This is all I saw, so did Cafferty call her out like he - rightfully - called out Chris Wallace?

Lies, lies, lies!!

Obama will not attack Pakistan in fact he will be a friend of Pakistan and also Obama will be as though against the iranian terror threat as Bush was or McCain will ever be....

CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN...

The People vs. The Media

How has the arrogant and corrupt Bush family managed to seize so much power for so long?

Look to History for the answer.

this concerns me... I'm for Hillary, but if the rigt keeps attacking the black guy.. I might lean towards him (if the primary where I live by that time).

I think Hillary would make a wonderful president. But the irrational prejudice against her on both side shows me that one's capability and history... means nothing. We missed out on Gore when the man was the vice president.. and we're missing out on someone that have already who's been with the president as well.

I would feel safer if Obama been around longer instead of just being a senator and running on ideal... But if Bush can mess things up for being stupid, maybe he can do things correctly for being smart.

oncall's picture

Is anybody really surprised that Bush smugly lied though his teeth while a "F word" network Noise reporter did not challenge him? Of course not, and this is the kind of thing the Democrats have to be ready for. The Republicans will steal, lie and cheat to keep the White House and they have a television network on their side helping them too. Until the rest of the media and the internet blogs continue to highlight every lie and distortion, from both sides, Americans will be left voting not for President, but against the candidate they like the least.

There's one indisputable fact about Bush that can't be distorted: he's the worst president in U.S. history. Period. History doesn't have to happen for him to be assessed. The present is judging him now, and he's a failure. Thanks for nothing, sir, and the Republican Party.

diamondmc's picture

The decider has spoken, and we know that bush would never lie to the american people. Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......

So Dana is saying we can expect more lies from the republicans in the coming months and that'll be okay? Interesting point of view she shared. She seemed to be the cleanup person after Jack exposed bush's lies. Fair and Balanced? Where have I heard that before.

What bugs me most is that the goddamn Pres of the U.S. is reduced to striking a pose of ignorance. The way he acts like he is working off the same info as anyone else sitting at home watching TV. The Republicans, what's left of them, are afraid of Obama as a candidate because he will kick ass in the November elections and McCain won't know what hit him. Yes, they are afraid that they will lose the White House. Too bad, too sad. It's time for the elephants to retire. They're old and dried up anyway, on their way to becoming mummies.

Joe O.'s picture

Bush and the rest of the Republicans will continue to distort and throw flat out lies against Obama. I liked the way Jack Cafferty shot down Bush's lies but their responses need to be much faster. The responses need to come from the candidates as well as from journalists like Jack Cafferty alike very quickly so that those lies do not sink in. It is falsehoods and lies like these that people remember and if the candidate waits to long to shoot them down its to late. This was John Kerry's problem in 2004. He waited to long to refute the Swift Boat veteran's lies and it cost him.

L.A. Confidential's picture

The American people voted the Democrats in with a majority mandate to end this war.

Why should Obama be let off the hook? If he was the dynamic, persuasive, influencial, and powerful leader the media likes to portray him as he would have pulled Pelosi and Reid aside and said, "Look, we made a promise to the American People to STOP this lunacy. Now I am not asking you I am telling you we need to keep our word and our commitment. WHATEVER IT TAKES. And we need to start RIGHT NOW and do what we promised to do. I am not going to allow you to destroy my reputation because your afraid to do what you were elected to do."

Bush lies because the truth is not in him. Never has been. And now he's a has been. The tide of history has already moved past him and he's desperately trying to prove he's still relevant. Which gives me pause.

But we, the people need to stay on our toes. One way to push back against the lies is to be always vigilant and immediately contact the media to challenge. Like yesterday, Donna Brazile on the Situation Room chastised Blitzer for an inaccurate crawl about superdelegates running across the screen.

Several minutes later--same old, same old--Blitzer referenced that same distortion about superdelegates in a question, and I immediate posted a comment on the CNNpolitics.com blog. The more of us that do that, the better. The media need to tear up the tired old scripts and start paying attention. Because we sure as hell are.

I agree. Bush will continue to lie about candidates because he has nothing to lose at this point. His credibility is already in the toilet but that really never mattered to him or his Administration. They deliberately lie about a candidate or an issue such as Iraq hoping that no one will call them on it. If enough time passes, the American people start to believe that what Bush said is true because no one stepped forward to refute it.  They lied about many issues and always imposed a sense of urgency on the people to push it through.  By the time the MSM or the people started to refute those lies the issue(s) were already passed or in the case of Iraq, the invasion was already started and by then, it was to late to do anything about it.

Obama don't know nothin' about 'distortion' yet, so far all he's experienced is 'competing' with Hillary. And that's going to seem as if someone was licking his ear, compared to what's gonna happen when McCain starts chewing on his achilles heels.

When the republican 'truth squads' (AKA Swift Boaters) get done, Obama's gonna look like a communist terrorist pickaninny infant wrapped in swaddling cloths made of camel skin, who was baptized into the Muslim Terrorist Religion by being dipped into the river of oil that flows between the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammed in Ma dina and the Shia Shrine in Samarra, who has sworn revenge upon the 'Infidels' (AKA Americans), and plans to Nuke the White House the day after he is inaugurated.

Bush Family Chronicles: The Patriarchs

By Morgan Strong
February 10, 2008
Editor’s Note: When Americans wonder how the arrogant and corrupt Bush family managed to seize so much power for so long, part of the answer is that the electorate lost control of its history during the long Cold War and into a new era of secrecy called "the war on terror."

Cold War secrecy gave the rich and powerful extraordinary abilities to hide information from the American people, including the unsavory history of the Bush family, as journalist/historian Morgan Strong observes in this guest essay:

B.O. Superstar's picture

How can you distort a record when he doesn't have one. Oh yeah, when you distort it you are implying that he does. I hear their installing a new button to go along with Yay, or Nay in the Senate just for B.O. Superstar. It's labeled "Maybe."

The main problem I see in the Repubs and Dems is lobbyist corruption. I don't think anyone can change that until you get rid of every clown that's been in there most of their lives, and bring in fresh blood. That isn't going to happen though, as long as SOME Dem supporters (PiLA anyone?) continue to make excuses for their lack of accountability and their inability to do anything. CONgress, the Senate, etc, should all have term limits like the Presidency and it would end alot of this porkbarrel politics. Good luck at getting the pigs away from the trough though.

Why don't you tell the group how you really feel?

I'm not so sure its going to be that easy this time around. In order to pull that off the "swift boater" types will have to have a very good message that is not easily discounted. Besides, I think the Obama campaign already knows how this works and are prepared. Notice how fast a member of Obama's campaign came out to denounce Bush's lies?

Interesting display there. What we saw was a president willfully lie to the American people and FOX provide the forum for him to do it. What was said was not about Obama at all. It was about Bush and FOX. Perhaps the folks at CNN might stop abetting the president by calling his lies "talking points". From what I have seen virtually all "talking points" are lies. Might also help to stop calling Troop Increases "surges", insurgents "Al quida" and so forth. Bush is not alone in getting us where we are today..CNN helped him out quite a bit.

Yep. The problem is that they are professional politicians, or as I like to call them, BULLSHIT artists. Running to represent the everyday common person would be noble, but that is not why these clowns run. They run to represent their own wallets more than anything. You don't have to worry about your corporate interests being threatened if you control the government. It's sad. Limiting how long you can be in government would cure that instantly. That's why you'll never see it. Surprised they haven't changed the constitution to allow Prez to run more than twice.

John Quincy Adams. Son of a former president, never lived up to father's reputation or role as one of our founding fathers.

Ulysses S. Grant Disaster as a president, but at least his military service is unquestioned.

Warren G. Harding Involved in Teapot Dome scandal, which involved oil and payoffs. Had the grace to die in office. Maybe that's why Bush stays away from San Francisco (Harding died at the Sheraton Palace Hotel.)

William Jefferson Clinton Impeached for groping an intern.

George W. BushSon a former president, decided to build on father's reputation and ignored sociopolitical realities to topple Saddam and catapult Iraq into chaos. Disastrous as a president, has military service that is questionable. Involved in multiple scandals, including insider trading while CEO of an oil/energy company, and payoffs. Came close to dying in office after choking on a pretzel served at the White House. Groped a foreign head of state, belongs to same party as congressman accused of groping pages, another congressman having an extramarital affair, and a senator charged with soliciting sex in an airport restroom.

Thats the fact. Sorry to be so blunt.

Actually, I don't know who to trust anymore. I fear that we no longer have a choice and that, indeed all the candidates are cut from the same cloth, serving the same money-masters.
Hillary really seems like a corporate shill to me, who will stop at nothing to get her ass in the Oval office and continue this 20-year, two-family ruling dynasty for another 8 years.
And I almost became physically ill when I learned that Barak's wife, Michelle, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations...especially in light of this quote from their Chairman in 1991:

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march toward a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”

David Rockefeller
Council on Foreign Relations

Bottom line: Don't expect anyone in the media to grill any candidate on the CFR, the Bilderberg Group, Skull & Bones or the Bohemian Grove.

I'm afraid our country is gone, friends. It happened while we were sleeping.
