John McCain tours New Orleans and declares it "safe," by the always brilliant Jess Wundrun.
Open Thread below...

In Martin County, Kentucky last week, John McCain added another one his "Forgotten Places" to the growing list of places his campaign would now like to forget. With a straight face, McCain told the residents of the economically devastated region that eBay represents their economic future. And he did so by appropriating the words of Meg Whitman, who just happens to be not only McCain's national campaign co-chair, but the former CEO of eBay.
For the details, see:
"McCain's Answer for Poverty? eBay!"
Last Monday he went to NO and talked about tearing it down.
Last Wednesday he didn't remember saying what he said on Monday.
Today he probably doesn't even remember he was there.
Safe like after his Baghdad-tour-a-tour. Is that a flak jacket he's wearing?
Why the hell is he wearing a bulletproof vest? Oh wait... that must be the master carpenter tool vest they gave him before he singlehandedly rebuilt three houses and wetnursed those six orphans...
When McStupid speaks , everyone with viable brain matter realizes he's a fucking moron ; which would explain w3hy the MSM praises him unceasingly and nauseatingly ..........
WTF
he's dressed like he's in the green zone.
with the ruling for the indiana id case today by the supreme court, it
is evident the reichwingneocon judges are intent on caring on the
illegal process of eliminating qualified democrat voters and any other
person not in the gop.
this could possibly be the worst decision the supreme court has made
beyond politically throwing the gore election to bush.
this country is moving swiftly towards a major civil war of its own.
the privileged elite white corporate bastards had better hope the
middle and lower class don't ask France for the guillotine.
There is some "entertainment value" to this old fart. I realize this is the best "the dying party" can toss up there....but damn, it's so pathetic.
That's NOT to say that he can't win. There are enough f*cking idiots living in the States and enough corruption to steal an election, that the old fart could end up living in the WH with his bitch wife...but it's got a certain amount of humor to it.
Sad, the day when the best thing the opposition party can muster is some old geezer that was tortured for five years in Hanoi as their "hero", and that qualifies him for taking the whole country into the depths of the toilet.
We "have come a long way baby". Only problem is, it's the WRONG way.
And in Iraq, McCain's Confused About Who to Call ‘My Friends’
“Safe,” from what? The blackwater goons? Or the street gangs or the next Katrina? Or maybe the carpetbaggers that are trying to buy (steal) as much as they can get?
What the hell is he talking about?
hardy har har
Why isn't his wife wearing a bulletproof vest too? There she is - her Armani suit in full display. Now - last time I looked - cashmere wasn't bulletproof. His standing next to her protected, while she goes it alone just about sums McCain up for me: it's all about him. He could give a good god damn about anyone else - including his wife.
That's despicable.
They forgot to remove his bib after lunch.
That's a bullet-proof vest! The guy beside him is not wearing one. His wife is not wearing one... McCain is not as trusting as all the folks walking with him. He must be pretty scared of all those average American citizens!
The Fat Lady Sings @ 12:
It’s always the good that get assassinated; they don’t have anything to worry about!
Wow, nothing about Rev. Wright's comments on the front page. I'm amazed...
AngryOne: According to Tom Tomorrow, E-Bay was Clinton's solution for poverty, too.
Anyway, voters are stupid.
The U.S. continues to blame
Iran and Syria for its mistakes. McCain thinks Americans should pay more for health care. The Pentagon (temporarily) stops its "P.R." program. Warren Buffet thinks the recession will be destructive.
More pregnant women have diabetes.
Kennedy could have been wearing a chest vest and little good it would have done for him.
The only ones going to take a shot are the ones who have had lots of training for it. And they are usually on the government payroll.
Thank God Reverand Wright had mercy and after 2 or 3 month of hearing the same soundbites played over and over again by the concerned mainstream media to him and to us with true determination and conviction (Hannity and O’Reilly have become the ultimate champions in fast soundbite playing, no doubts about that) Wright gave them a real variety of sound bites to choose from. Please, after 2 or 3 months of having your life’s legacy exposed and mocked by concerned trolls from Fox News and everyone else who did that, every single person if being given a humble, honorary stage to have a say and finally respond to the 30 second repetitions he must have endured every freakin’ day for months, he would be producing soundbites as if there was no tomorrow and so he did. Is it so hard to understand? MSM, if combined together, played days worth of those 30 second clips over the last months so they should be more than capable of handling the new ones if they like to play them so much, should they not. What was the part about the roosters?
He also gave a speech with only 2 black people in the audience and apparently all of the rest were whites folks.
OMFG this shows in glorious technicolor that DC Republicans think New Orleans is bandit country inhabited by savages, something akin to Iraq.
That and the heavy army bodyguard presence.
lafin gas @ 15:
shadow government snipers are among the best in the world. afterall, they got a single bullet to make seven wounds, dance in midair twice, and land unscathed and unbloodied in a hospital gurney.

Rebel Patriot @ 24:
And triangulated fire.
Ron @ 22:
Half the population of NO is still displaced and cant go back, and their properties are being redeveloped for rich whites and tourist areas.
Jack @ 26:
He certainly didn't help Obama. Heard on one of the talking head shows that Wright's working on a book that's due out just before the election. That likely won't be helpful either.
Rebel Patriot @ 24:
It was one of the high tech specially trained bullets.
I wonder if the MSM are going to cover this and comment on the flak jacket, surely this is too good of a comedic situation to ignore.
That photo is real? Oh. My. Gawd.
We are all screwed.
ah photoshopped pic, oh well fun for a moment or two.
Jack @ 26:
I think Wright has found out what a lot of people have found out: Being famous is fun, even if you are famous for being an idiot.
Yes, yes kevlar is all the rage these days in safe neighborhoods.
Why are there two soldiers escorting the black dude behind Cindy and why is she running?
ferrofluid @ 33:
The original is not all that less repulsive than the photo shopped one considering he was eating cake with Bush when Katrina was in full swing.
Can someone verify that this isnt photoshopped?
Did he really walk thru New Orleans with a crowd of people while hes the only one wearing a vest? He wants to be America's next fearless leader?
ferrofluid, thank you for clearing that up.
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 34:
really?
what did Wright say that was really wrong?
Are you upset at just the God Damn America bit?
because if you look at all that the US has done since 1945 - you should be saying it.
Regarding the (304) super delegates who haven't declared. Obviously they hold a lot of power. HRC keeps saying she has been totally vetted which of course is absurd. If she is the nominee, fat chance!, the reps will be reviewing all of her hubby's indiscretions, many of which he won't remember ;) I digress.
My thought is since these folk hold so much power, they should get together & say to the Clintons, why haven't you released the donor list to the Clinton library, you must be hiding some pretty nefarious donors, eh.
What I'm saying is they hold all the cards & can pretty much dictate what they want from both candidates & HRC, in particular is in no position to say no to any of their requests.
I know what you're thinkin', since when have the dems ever been organized ;)
Will Rogers ~ I'm not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat!
Wright is right.
Sorry if the truth is so painful.
Swashbuckler @ 29:
If ever Obama is able to crawl out from under the out-of-control bus driven by his so-called "Reverend", he would be wise to promptly grow a set and finally put this media whore where he belongs...out of his life forever.
Eva @ 14:
The Secret Service probably made him wear it.
At any rate, judging by the time of the photo based on the sun, I'd say he was there while the gangstas were still in bed. Let's hear him call it safe after 10pm on Friday night.
That crowd with him was realllly small. I mean, really small. Besides the tour guides and the security detail, was there anybody in the community with him? So much for support.
We'll see how safe it is come hurricane season. If the levees (rebuilt with newspaper to plug in the holes) stand, then it's safe. If not...then we're screwed.
Rico @ 42:
Wright didn't set out seeking the attention. The media gave it to him. Is it his fault that he now has an audience - temporarily so - and he makes use of it?
are you so blind to the utter evil that this nation's government has inflicted on the world?
I know a WHITE Christan theologian who has attributed over 1 billion lives needlessly lost as a result of the US empire project (both military caused deaths - and economically caused deaths) since the US became the dominant roleplayer after 1945.
calgarylady @ 32:
1. He looks like he needs a walker.
2. Are my eyes decieving me or is he wearing body armor?
3. Why is he using Army personel as political props?
4. Did anybody bother to tell McCain that New Orleans is not in Iraq?
calgarylady @ 38:
it got me amused and going for several minutes, only when following the link and reading the blog etc.
Bullet proof vest? Military personel? Man he really is afraid of black people...
If you all haven't seen it already, PBS FRONTLINE did a great special on solutions for a health care problem.
Che's Lounge @ 41:
Indeed he is.
To the Reichwingers they may protray him as a radical, but those who believe that are already racist bigots and imbeciles. And alot of folks may not like what Wright has to say but know damn well he is right, while plenty of others, llke myself, not only nod in agreement but say "Preach on, brother, preach on".
I wonder if he got any 5 $ rugs at the market.
Ron @ 30:
The best part of the film is when Jackie picks up his brain and puts it back in his head.
Rico @ 42:
He'll probably do that, but the damage has already been done. You can bet 527s will be using clips of Wright from yesterday and today and putting them in ads come October.
Regardless of the photoshoppiness, it looks like a bad copy of a scene from Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
Rico @ 42:
Media whore?
You dipshit, tell your "media whore" canard to the media, which hyperventilated over his sermons.
He is not seeking publicity, he is clearing his name from scurrilous accusations by racist white guys.
Rico @ 42:
I believe the Rev has done Obama a favor by throwing him under the bus. Wright's motives are pretty obvious, with all this publicity what an advance he will have on his next book. Yes, he has something in common with Ann Coulter. Publicity seekers unite!
OK, bad comparison, but he does seem to enjoy hearing himself talk, much like Coulter, Limbo, Billo etc.
shiloh @ 54:
How far up your rectum are you reaching for that? All the way to your elbow? Shoulder?
odanny @ 48:
Calling everyone who disagrees with you racist bigots and imbeciles is hardly the unity theme that Obama espouses...
shiloh @ 51:
What does the Reverend Wright have to do with fixing our healthcare system, balancing the budget, or getting us out of the mess in Iraq?
What is that? Am I hearing crickets!
That is what I thought.
Swashbuckler @ 47:
Obama has to be politically correct to pacify the media, as well as the undecideds.
I have neither concern.
I really do need to get my eyes checked out. We are all still screwed, however.
odanny @ 50:
You sound just like Wright, saying Obama is just a politician - that he doesn't really believe in what he's saying.
Interesting...
Thats not a bulletproof vest, its a bib...he needs his momma too she's a 180 yrs old.
odanny @ 50:
And I wasnt calling anyone on this thread racist, or a bigot (but I did call someone a "dipshit" for their comment, which I found to be an apt summary based on their comment)
I like Pie @ 50:
He doesn't have anything to do with those things. He has plenty to do with one of the three (really two) people who are now vying to be the standard bearer in solving those problems. Okay, really one person because McSame won't do anything about them except make them worse.
Swashbuckler @ 60:
What can I say, I'm bitter. Good thing I got my guns.
Well, off to bed, goodnight.
Anybody interested, go look at New Orleans on Google maps,
theres still a lot of blue temp tarpaulins on roofs in 2008.
Check out Old Gentilly road, thousands and thousands of cars and boats piled up on the waste ground there.
is it just me, or does it look like McCain just dirtied his diaper?
I like Pie @ 49:
Nothing & I believe the Rev is sincere & I agree with just about everything he is saying except the aids/us govt. nonsense etc., but anyway you look at it he is throwing Obama under the bus ...
& in doing so is not helping Obama's campaign, so in that sense he has a lot to do with fixing our healthcare system, balancing the budget, or getting us out of the mess in Iraq? ie if he prevents Obama from being elected by continuing his current agenda, Obama won't be able to fix diddly!
The Rev is right in what he is saying, but his timing is awful, but on the bright side American's have short memories & Nov. is a longgg way off. But he would be doing Obama a big favor if he went on an extended vacation.
Rebel Patriot @ 39:
No, i will say God Damn America right now and mean it for several good reasons. It seems to me that Wright is enjoying the limelight. I really am not sure i trust people like that very much. Sorry.
Silly people. That's not a bulletproof vest. It's any one of the following:
- a crawfish bib. This photo was taken after a big ol' N'awlins crawdad feed.
- an Alzheimer's restraining harness, for when they strap the drooling Senator back into his captain's chair on the Dementia Express
- an official war hero whole-torso hernia truss. Did you know the Senator is a War Hero, and that Obama and Clinton are whiny surrender monkeys?
- prototype Hundred-Year off-duty lounge wear by Ralph Lauren
- huntin' 'n fishin' vest for obligatory Republican NRA-friendly photo-op
Swashbuckler @ 63:
I think the whole thing is a distraction. A sideline issue designed by the media to steer the debate away from the issues.
mcass head looks photoshopped. And its a bad job too.
that image has to be photoshopped... no one would be stupid enough to let a photo opp like that place...would they?
That's a great photo. He likes like a cartoon character or like he's not the same scale as the people around him. heh.
odanny @ 55:
No, heard a couple talking heads today asking what possible motives could Wright have in throwing Obama under the bus & this was just one of several scenarios that was mentioned, since it's obvious Wright doesn't care whether Obama gets elected.
His motives & actions will now be discussed ad nauseam by the media, just what Obama doesn't need.
tHeHusseinGaMeOfLiFe @ 73:
I believe the lawn jockey would be Silent Clarence Thomas.
odanny @ 53:
Dipshit? So much for moderation.
I'll stick by my point. Wright's a media whore just like most preachers of his stature. Listen to his words, watch his gestures.
What a dumb ass manufactured media storm this thing is. The shark attack frenzy from 2001 had more integrity. I voted for Hillary but my god this this Wright thing is puuuuuuuure cable news hype.

Agreed. He seems to be chomping at the bit for the spotlight.
One thing I'm confused about though is the whole "Reverend" aspect. Maybe I'm just used to pastors preaching about the spiritual aspect of life and not social commentary. And I know that "Reverends" from the far right do the exact same thing (God will damn America for gay marriage mkay?). It all just makes me uncomfortable.
shiloh @ 67:
If the Wright issues is the worst thing they have against Obama then it is going to be a cake walk for Obama. McCain is a sacrificial lamb that the Republicans are throwing under the train; becuase, nobody else wants to end their political career. He's not really a serious candidate. Hillary is the real challenge and she has already lost. The Democrats are not dumb enough to alienate every black voters in America. Hillary is just making a big stink; becuase, she wants the VP slot. The Wright issue is really small cookies. The big issue this Presidential Election is going to be the economy.
Yep, I'm happy that repugs have a right to tell me how my advisors should act.
chimpy can kill, destroy, kill, steal, kill, lie and what is the media running with...Rev. Wright. If Rev. Wright was president there wouldn't be a war, recession, rations, blood.
Rev. Wright fills the need of people in his area. So everyone should diss Rev. Wright. GTFOOH
chimpy in his demented state believes God talks to him, personally.
Let's loop and compare Rev. Wright's words to chimpy's.
Get serious and real repugs.
shiloh @ 73:
One thing I think that's good about this though is that one thing the media inadvertantly risks doing is awakening viewers to the fact that Obama and Wright are two different people with separate opinions. By giving Wright a voice, at least he can elaborate on what he has intentioned by past actions, thus furthering himself from Obama (a good thing, in my opinion) .
I think this is almost preferable to the ever-present hit-jobs the media puts out (a la Farakhan).
Annoyed Canuck@75
Now that's funnyy.
We have to abolished chimpy's SC and start anew. It should reflect the US.

What an asshat.
If NOLA is so safe, why is McCain wearing a bullet-proof vest?
Is this just like his delirious ramblings about the safety of the Green Zone a while back?

The other thing I would like to say is that the picture posted in Open Thread only shows with what regard McCain has for his meal-tick--*cough*--wife. Did he think that all that plastic surgery she's had would do the same job as his bullet proof vest?
Just asking. ;)
Oh dear, I guess my mean quips are all for naught. It is photoshopped. :(

I was curious so I went into youtube and watch some Wright Sermons.
What do I find?
Some of his parishoners are WHITE.
Now that just doesn't fit with the Fox News description of his church being a BLACK SEPERATIST church.
Could it be that Fox News is lying again?
After watching his sermon, I am 100% convinced that as a white person I would be welcome in his church.

Do you guys realize that the November election will not be between candidates (2 or 3 or more) but between the Democratic candidate and the media. Fox is already geared up and may be playing those sound bytes for the next 6 months - 24 hours a day. MSNBC with Tweety, Scarborough, Carlson et al are getting ready. CNN probably also, I very seldom watch them
Tonite the O'Reilly clown compared discrimination against blacks to discrimination against the Irish, without noting that the Irish are not being discriminated against today. They wheeled in St. Patrick.
These neocons have a problem with understanding the language they want to make official, the ability to realize that two people at the same scene can see things differently, in addition to seeing everything in binary. It's either black and white, Yes or no.
Is Rev. Wright the new Willy Horton?

Is that a bullet proof vest he's wearing? Of course, one well placed shot to the head should do it. I guess he's counting on any would be snipers to have bad aim. I mean really, how stupid. Although, maybe his head is bullet proof, or maybe that's not even his real head, but rather a decoy. It is also rather interesting that no one around him, including his wife, is protected in the same manner.

A cake walk for Obama ??? let me review the last 40 years of dems running for president. Dems won the presidency (3) times. Carter won with slightly over 50% of the vote & Clinton didn't get 50% either time he won, both were southern governors.
Back to reality:
positives 1) Obama, looks more like change in a change election 2) The dems will have the money advantage 3) as Peggy Noonan has mentioned, dubya has destroyed the rep party 4) McBush is a god awful candidate & right wing talk radio hates him 5) right track, wrong track
minuses 1) Obama is young & inexperienced & many vote for president on who would be the best Commander in Chief issue alone 2) Obama is African-American in a country that still has major race problems 3) the dems have a long history of grasping defeat from the jaws of victory 4) It's very iffy when HRC concedes that she will do her best to help unite the party, you may have noticed Obama & HRC do not like each other!
Having said all this, I expect a close election, it will only be a cake walk if McBush totally implodes which may happen. Obama has picked the one election cycle where he has a chance to win. After (8) years of Bush, the worst president in history, the economy tanking, gasoline sky high, the iraq war which will probably go down as the worst blunder in u.s. history & a rep admin which has violated the constitution every which way to Sunday etc. etc. ~ Obama may be the right man at the right time.
If it was Al Gore, it would be a cake walk imo, but dems always want to make it exciting & this time is no different choosing between an African-American & a Woman.
& so it goes ...
he is walking around with a bulletproof vest on and unless those are Kevlar boobs his wife is unprotected. Some tough man he is. Only in America.

Why all the off-topic comments on this thread? I thought that was not allowed here. I'm sick of all the Rev. Wright stuff, so I stopped reading the comments half-way through. What does Rev. Wright have to do with John McCain wearing a flak jacket in New Orleans?

New Orleans more dangerous than Sadr City?
At the onset of the Iraq Whore, I remember Republipukes shouting that more people are murdered on the streets of Washington, DC than are killed in Baghdad on any given day. War justification from a pack of lying, stealing, little boy blowing fuckwads.
McCain's an ass monkey and should wear a flak jacket in remembrance of the days he spent at the Hanoi Hilton without health insurance. POW shot down in Vietnam through his own incompetence.
This country would never elect a total failure who's lone act of bravery was to get blasted from the sky...
Who? You say, George HW Bush... Oh!... He bailed out killing his gunner and navigator... really?
Sorry, President McCain didn't mean any insult.
what the hell is he wearing? A pinafore?
Fuck it! Just detain him and threaten to torture him and he will tell all he knows. he did it before.
Hey Team. Lets have a Wright versus Hagee debate.
Where are the Apaches?
The picture was doctored; McCain was NOT wearing a vest (would have been funny if he did, but he didn't). You can see the raw footage here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tp_Se-uyjk&feature=related
You cannot do this without stating it's a photoshop job prominently. This makes all of us look bad.
On the other hand, he did have full military escort, as can be clearly seen in the footage above.

I'm Rev. Wright out. The MSM won't win this one Rev. Wright is tenacious and ticked off and rightly so.

No wonder there are so many stupid, ignorant, maniacs.
Go Obama!
Go USA!
Go Me!
1 AngryOne Says: In Martin County, Kentucky last week, John McCain added another one his “Forgotten Places” to the growing list of places his campaign would now like to forget. With a straight face, McCain told the residents of the economically devastated region that eBay represents their economic future. And he did so by appropriating the words of Meg Whitman, who just happens to be not only McCain’s national campaign co-chair, but the former CEO of eBay.
For the details, see:
“McCain’s Answer for Poverty? eBay!”
====================================
My wife shops on Rodeo Dr., but there are plenty of good hand me downs on eBay. It's only a s-l-o-w patch folks. (War with Iran is good for the economy.) Vote for 8 years of ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much did they pay those African-Americans to be in the picture? I hope they showered afterward.
Is that flack jacket serious, or photoshopped in?
drago @ 139:
That's not a bad idea. They should do it on the line of not discussing 9/11. Same rules.
But then again this is the most ridiculous repug tactic in use. Rev. Wright is a non-issue. I dig the man and will pay to see him front and center.
Please repugs name one person you agree with 100%. Oh yeah I forgot that's most of your followers.
tHeHusseinGaMeOfLiFe @ 120:
Um yeah, that's essentially the Great Commission for all of the Christian church.
Are you arguing the semantics of "make"? Because that'd be totally lame.
toomuchsun @ 115:
A. It's Open Thread
B. I'm also sick of it, but (I think) it's best to talk it through rather than just telling everybody to drop it (another media hit and run). Just to clarify, the reason I believe it's good to talk it out is for the sake of the general masses, who don't exactly know their politic. They apparently don't because it's front page news-worthy.
drago @ 139:
Shows the quality of the teevee and established media sources, doesn't it?
Take it like the AP Britney Spears blackout.

LIVE EARTH IS BACK: Reunion Tour, Live Earth is back, so get ready to rock - http://grist.org/news/2008/04/28/live_earth/index.html
Mark your calendars for Oct. 5: Live Earth is back and ready to rock. Kevin Wall, founder of last summer's international concert extravaganza, says that the October shows will be held on U.S. college campuses, and the focus will be on pushing the presidential candidates to address environmental issues.
Locations, bands, and all other specifics are yet to be determined, but will Al Gore be involved again? Says Wall: "Absolutely."

The US and China Are Over a Barrel: by Michael T. Klare - http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-klare28apr28,0,1651...
Let’s put this in perspective. In 2007, according to Energy Department figures, the United States consumed about 21 million barrels of oil a day, nearly three times as much as China. Even more significant, we imported 13 million barrels every day, a vastly greater amount than China’s import tally.
So, although it is indeed true that Chinese and American consumers are competing for access to overseas supplies, thereby edging up prices, American consumption still sets the pace in international oil markets.

George Bush's laissez-faire dollar policy is why you're paying so much for gas - http://www.americablog.com/2008/04/george-bushs-weak-dollar-policy-is-wh...
Don't think the dollar's decline affects you since you don't go to Europe? Think Again. Chris posted earlier today about OPEC and the price of oil, and buried in his post was a fascinating quote from the head of OPEC:
"Each time the dollar falls one percent, the price of the barrel rises by $4, and of course vice versa"
The overall point is that the head of OPEC just said that George Bush and the Republicans' economic policy vis-a-vis destroying the dollar (they don't care if the value plummets because "it's the market's doing") has led to the majority of the oil price increase. I.e., you're paying more at the pump because of George Bush and the Republicans.
Republican 'Free market' stupidity has destroyed the value of the dollar. The dollar has fallen 30% versus the Euro since April 2003.
Brent Scowcroft Echoes Obama: We Need To Talk To Enemies - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/28/brent-scowcroft-echoes-ob_n_990...
Brent Scowcroft, the national security adviser to Presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush, said on Monday that he agrees with the position, stated mainly by Sen. Barack Obama, that the U.S. would benefit from having direct talks with the leaders of its most distrusted adversaries.
"Absolutely," said Scowcroft, when asked by The Huffington Post whether he thought the next president should meet with the likes of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. "It's hard to make things better if you don't talk."
World Food Riots: When The 'Free' Market Starves Many Millions - http://manifestojoestexasblues.blogspot.com/2008/04/world-food-riots-whe...
"Free" market dogma and stereotypes have long portrayed "socialism" and protectionism as ideologies that bring only poverty and hunger to nations. There is some modest historical evidence for that case. Yet now, after decades of globalization, neoliberalism, deregulation, tearing down trade barriers and such, world food prices are alarmingly inflated.
Food riots are erupting all over the developing world.
Bush's America: Middle Class Turning to Food Banks - http://www.progressivedailybeacon.com/?p=883
Flood said a particularly troubling trend was that more people are showing up at food banks who don't fit the usual profile of lower-income families trying to make ends meet. He said free groceries are now being sought by middle-class people who may have lost their jobs or experienced some other economic upheaval. "We're worried," Flood said. "We don't necessarily have the supply of food to handle this increase."
