Larry King Live: Michael Moore On Obama, Clinton, Wright and McCain
By Logan Murphy Wednesday Apr 30, 2008 12:00pmMichael Moore appeared on Larry King Live Wednesday to talk about his support for Barack Obama, his views on Hillary Clinton's campaign, the Rev. Wright distraction and as expected, spoke some serious truth about John McCain and how he's wrong for America.

While Moore hasn't been shy about his dismay with Hillary Clinton's campaign, he talks about party reconciliation after the Democratic primary is over and acknowledges that he hears from a lot of women, many of them older women, who support Hillary and rightfully so. Larry King tries to get Moore to praise McCain, as all elite media pundits do, but Michael hits him hard on vowing to run a third Bush term with disastrous policies that as an "elderly American" would hurt him, were he not a U.S. Senator:
"...And we've seen him angry. And as a senior citizen maybe he's experiencing things now, as an elderly American where it's not the same as if he were a young person in this country. Certainly, if he wanted to go and get a job other than U.S. Senator, at his age, he'd have a pretty hard time, wouldn't he?"

HA!
I gotta get a tv so I can watch stuff. Ah to hell with it.
Heh. Nobody ticks off the tighty righties like Moore.
Like many uninfomed Americans, I was angry at Moore's outburst at the Oscars in 2003(or 2002). But he was right and I was more than wrong. So Mr. Moore, I apologize for being an idiot.
I'm just waiting for someone to say: "Isn't there enough commentators and anchors humping McCain's leg? I don't think I want to get in there."
The way the media sucks up to McCain is pathetic. Hagee, Keating Five, Temper issues are all swept under the rug, at least Moore shows he has the balls to say it like it is.
didn't michael moore here the news?
"the surge has been a huuuuuge success"TM
gee what's new, another good old white boy supporting obama. Even after knowing that obama sat in a church for 20 years listening to a preacher tell his congregation to HATE ALL WHITES. And damning America and above all blaming ourselves for 9/11. I guess it doesn't matter what kind of a piece of crap you support as long as it isn't a WOMAN. Hate predjuice and out and out phobias...what else are the good old boys gonna foster.??????
Michael Moore is a big bag of wind...
Wow Marge, you seem a little ticked off.
Kevin, Moore may be blustery, but he is usually right.
Marge @ 8:
you definitely have a knack for exaggerating, misinforming
kind of like reverend wright
I'm not questioning the validity of his statements.... I'm saying sometimes he needs to stfu (not necessarily in this case), just overall.
Well, regardless of who gets the nomination, I will be voting Democrat. Just thinking of McCain winning gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Kevin @ 13:
so you think he is generally right in what he says, but you just don't want him to say it? oooooooook
*scratches head*
Samson- @ 12:
Don't waste your energy...Marge is a hit and run troll. Doesn't have the juevos to stick around to see how wrong he/she/it/them is.
Kevin @ 13:
Take your own advice.
Talk Radio-Talk TV
Talk talk talk
The right hate Moore because Mike is smarter than to talk out of his ass like the frightwing pundits. Mikes facts are always well vetted and supported. Right down to every last nuance and scenes in his movies. He wont walk into the right wing spin trap and it drives them crazy. I respect Mike but don't always agree with his delivery too but im sure his message is properly intended. More Moores and less Hannitys would be a good start to a better America. Mike loves his country.. Hannity loves his paycheque and his 15 minutes which should be just about up by now.
I'm not feeling a lot of love at this post.
Moore haters are generally the people that need to STFU, in my opinion, or just go watch "The View" or some shit.
Republicans like Marge love to spread lies.
Bottom Line: All republicans are liars and cannot be trusted.
You know mcstain is completely wrong for the US because the reich wants him in power.
OT: News that the "D.C.Madam" may have killed herself was just announced. So do they mean 'killed herself - cia' or 'killed herself - blackwater' ?
ThunderMonkey @ 5:
hahahahahahahaha! that's funny!! and you paint a totally accurate picture of the media pundits, hasbeens and wannabees both...
MargeAggedon @ 23:
very good questions inthe O.T. section... makes you wonder, doesn't it?
P.D. @ 20:
People are tiring of talk. It's been 7 years and we may as well be treading water barely staying alfoat with some guys in a boat giving us a lecture on why we shouldn't have gotten into that situation to begin with then they leave and we're thinking. . .uhhhh why didn't they pull us out of the water? I mean we're like drowning ya know?
People, people, lets chill for a minute. This is what the right-wing fringe want us to do. They practically drooling over the Obama and Clinton match-up. The more we beat each other up, the more McCain slips under the radar.
Samson- @ 15:
Yeah I kind of scratched my head at that one too. The solution of course is to change the channel.
sharkcellar @ 21:
I agree with almost everything he says and his movies are brilliant, but there's something about him that grates on me. Maybe I'd like to hear a positive take on some things, sometimes.
Alright, Mike! If only all Dems would be courageous enough to say what they think like this. Ever noticed how conservatives supposedly win points by saying things that enrage liberals, but liberals live in terror of saying things that enrage conservatives? What is so bad about pissing them off?
And for the record, I'm an Obama supporter (former Edwards supporter), and I will be voting for whoever wins the nomination. I never planned to do otherwise.
Moore is a National treasure!
14All, I agree. I just want this President out! Now! 71% disapprove of his performance. The lowest rating ever, even lower than Nixon's 66%. WTF.
P.D. @ 4:
Well, I don't think you're wrong. I really like Michael Moore but there are times that he's so passionate he comes off as a raving lunatic even though what he is saying is right.
The problem with that is it makes it easy for people who don't like him to dismiss everything he says.
This clip shows him in what I think is really his element. He's not being interrupted, there's an underlying tone of anger at what's happening in this country but he's addressing everything in a calm, rational and thoughtful manner.
His enemies will still bash him but if they use this clip as an example to try to convince somebody who doesn't know Moore or is undecided that Moore is an extremist they won't get too far.
My only problem with Mr. Moore is that he sometimes has to stretch the facts he presents to reach the conclusions he believes. He's still right but instead of using facts that take you straight there he takes the long route and then somewhere makes a huge jump across a chasm before getting to the conclusion. I wish I could think of an example to back that up, but I can't think of any at the moment. I just know that's the impression I've had more than once with him.
Actually he sort of does this at the end of this clip. He says, "John McCain wants to raise taxes." OK, I can see the logic there but he doesn't really spell out how that would happen even though I can figure it out. But if I didn't want to figure it out I could just call him a liar because he said it without backing it up and in the mean time McCain keeps talking about lowering taxes even more.
The obvious problem there is that it makes it easy for his enemies to say he didn't have his facts straight and therefore everything he says can be dismissed with no further discussion.
If he's left out that last sentence this clip would have been 100% solid.
Rev. Wright = Distraction
Angry = Distraction
Elitist = Distraction
Repeal of Gas Tax = Distraction
When will the mainstream media start to address the paid military analyst dust up? They're all guilty, and this is a crime! It is a travesty that we allow them to distract the sheep with all this mundane horsehockey they throw against the wall.
Matthews, Morning Joe crew, Howard Kurtz and CNN, Andrea Mitchell, Brian Williams, Timmeh; I hope that they all shit in bed tonight!
Marge @ 8:
What does Obama say about whites? He might have said he hates them all but it must have happened when I wasn't listening.
P.D. @ 14:
Me too! God, or some spirit, help us if McCain becomes the next president. I'll vote dem no matter what and I'm a big time Obama supporter.
P.D. @ 14:
Same here. I hope it's Obama but Hillary will do. She's GOP-lite, but still better than ful flavor GOP.
One of the biggest mistakes of the American left is thrusting people like Michael Moore into the spotlight.
CafeenMan @ 36:
Since Obama's mom and grandparents are white, I doubt he said anything.
OT: The NYT is reporting that the DC Madam has killed herself in FLA.
Pissed off Patricia, I said it before and I'll say it again. I will vote for SpongeBob if he was the Democrat. I used to be an Independant, but the last seven years have been a nightmare. It will take decades to fix this country, if we can fix it at all. Pray.
I wonder what was in the Madam's suicide note. I'm wondering if Vitter is sweating a little?
The media is just reporting that the DC Madam committed suicide. I believe that there are so many in the DC area (high govt. officials) that wanted this woman dead for obvious reasons. I would ask the justice dept. to investigate, but they are most likely part of the plot. She had lots of people that wanted her shut up for good in my opinion.
P.D. @ 42:
I agree. I'm to the point now where I would even vote for Bullwinkle if he were running against McCain.
pissed off patricia @ 37:
Word!
CafeenMan @ 34:
Yes, I was really impressed with his appearance on LKL and I usually take MM with a grain of salt. I thought he was really expansive with understanding why women would be passionate about supporting Hillary. (I'm not one of them)
The reason MSM support McCain is because he reminds them of their GI Joe toy of their youth and that is just so cool! And he belongs in their club and they belong to his! No further discussion is necessary to completely embrace their newly recovered beloved toy. And he's old! That means they're young! So many many things to like! Tell us another war story Grandpa! How you fought in the war so we don't have to... /s
P.D. @ 43:
It's an "apparent" suicide. I highly suspect foul play considering the kind of dangerous information she was sitting on
What is up with MSNBC? The endless campaign coverage is mind-numbing. Don't we have a war going on? Aren't millions losing theie homes? Christ!
jeff @ 41:
Yeah...suicide by Blackwater...
P.D. @ 43:
I'm really not into conspiracy theories, but this seems really convenient for a lot of politicians who individually or collectively have the power to make a death look like suicide. If there's a note, it's probably a lot of mea culpas for causing so much trouble to everyone while globally stating that never ever did a republican enter her place of whoreship.
I thought Marge was being snarky...
Apparently they found her body in the shed on her mothers property. I'm wondering what really happened. It's a shame. And just think Vitter, unlike Spitzer will slink on by. Sigh!
jeff @ 41:
A "Suicide"
Okay
vrunner @ 48:
"...the dangerous information she was sitting on"
Is that a madam pun? I'm sorry but it did make me laugh.
I'm sure all her information is somewhere safe. Stuff like her client list etc. Where in Florida are saying she was?
P.D. @ 53:
Someone is sending a message. Fu*k with us, your dead meat.
jeff @ 41:
What else is there to do in Florida?
Michael Moore is a walking talking big fat hypocrite. He admits in one of his books he doesn't recycle plus he drives a gas-guzzling car. He makes a movie about 9/11 and instead of putting in facts that were out there had he read a book, he has to put in conspiracy theories.
He doesn't help us win in November. As Hillary said to Ted Kennedy on the Senate floor - thanks for not endorsing me. His major complaint about Hillary is her vote on the war; yet he endorsed Kerry who made the same vote.
And now he endorses John Kerry the second. Thanks, Michael Moore
dosido @ 47:
I had a GI Joe in my youth, but I never had a Grampa Joe. McCain looks like an old farmer to me.
It pisses me off the she was thrown to the wolves while Vitter and the other Johns in her book get off.(No pun intended). I would love to see the dirty details of the men in that book. They deserve to be run out of town on a rail. Ala, Spitzer.
Sorry P.D. to bust your bubble but Bush Regime got America in a good mess because the Democraps went along-hand in hand.Just imagine if Hillary gets in 2009-- Never ending Fox-News--Billy & Pelosie caught with pants down....
ysbaddaden @ 58:
Chat with you guys on C&L like I'm doing right now.
I just caught the end of the report on the madam's death on CNN and they had a question mark after the word suicide.
L.A. Confidential @ 57:
She was quoted after another woman involved in this case "committed suicide" that she would never do the same and if they ever found her dead it would be murder!
CafeenMan @ 60:
I had a GI Joe in my youth, but I never had a Grampa Joe. McCain looks like an old farmer to me.
LOL. *g*
I find when people say not pun intended, it was intended.
Maybe Larry Flynn turned up nothing on his investigation so he ran her over with his wheel-chair.
Democratsrule @ 63:
That conniving bitch! She killed herself just to cause trouble!
P.D. @ 4:
Wow! Thanks for saying that.
[offers imaginary handshake]
You just made my morning.
They are saying she was in Tarpon Springs. I have friends that live up there.
I never, ever thought that an election would reach Fandom Wank proportions, but this one sure has. These "Hillary/Obama iz TEH SuXXorz!" exchanges have all the depth of a manic Harry Potter fangirl wankfest.

IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:

That's right up the road from me. They're mainly famous for their sponge docks. A large Greek community lives there. It's about the only interesting place within a few hundred miles of here (Spring Hill, FL).
Karla @ 70:
Are you some kind of commie? Why do you hate wankfests?!?!
People still think Obama can't beat McWar. When the facts on McFraud slowly leak out this summer and fall, Obama will destroy this dusty old fool...Hillary knows, that's why she's fighting like a cornered dog to stay in the race.
I'm down here in Sarasota County.
CafeenMan @ 72:
No shit...what's wrong with wankfests? I was at the great wankfest of '00...had to change shirts 5 times.
You don't see wankfests like that anymore.
liberalHUSSEINmoderation @ 75:
And furthermore....WANKFEST!
Left&Left @ 73:
You mean people like news pundits telling us we think that?
I always thought any of our dem candidates can beat McCain't.
dosido @ 47:
Plus, the main reason is that all of the MSM is bought up by just a few individual Corporations. If you as a reporter ask too many hard questions of the preferred candidate or about situations your Boss the corporation does not want covered you will lose your MSM job. Also, they, the corporations, will blackball you the reporter. So the MSM reporters keep their mouths shut and the propaganda going that the government and corporations want released to the public. So the American Public goes around in blissful ignorance discussing information that really does not matter and never seeing the true problems facing the country. When a candidate tries to address the issues facing America then they try to bury him or her in other distractions to nulify his or her message.
Samson- @ 12:
Well, Rev. Wright was "wright-on" about obama, the chickensh!t.
jmac @ 59:
We have not really heard from MM in awhile, because people weren't "feeling" him, thinking he was doing more harm than good. He is just doing what these other people, who have pretty much been irrelevant the last 7 years, endorsing the supposed "cool kid" to make themselves relevant once more. Here's the deal, obama is dying a death by a thousand cuts, many of his own making, and now he is out pandering saying "we are ready to be test driven, have people kick our tires, etc." Well, everytime someone finds a flaw with the obamacar, he whines and/or plays the race card. People are on to his tactics and they aren't having it anymore.
P.D. @ 27:
That's how I see it too. Probably, the best thing for the Democratic party right now would be to just get it straight (call in the superduperdelegates if need be!), select your candidate and then concentrate on blowing McCain right out of the Blackwater.
McCain has changed position on so many issues no one can really say what he really stands for. For instance he has not yet released his wife's income tax statements. This is where most of his money comes from, so the public has a right to know. Another example of McCain's secrecy is what do these lobbist he is surrounded by expect in return for their support of his presidential campaign.
PssttCmere @ 80:
And progressives claim conservatives are uptight, and not funny. You're hilarious man!Aaahahahahahahahaha!!! Here's the deal...take your "I saw a spaceman" hillbilly shit back to Drudge. And buy some shoes, hick. "Obama's dying by a thousand cuts". Aaahahahahahahaha!!!
jmac @ 59:
Taken out of context, don't you think? MM says he doesn't recycle, but in that book (which one was it again? I can't remember off the top of my head) he also laid out his reasons. He claims that recycling is a placebo (right word? Anyway...), meant to make us feel good about ourselves by throwing our cans and bottles into a bin and thus we have done our part to help the cause of conservation. But in reality, he says, these bins are in the end tossed in with the rest of the garbage. That isn't verbatim, but it is the gist of what he wrote in that book. Now, agree or disgree with his paranoia about recycling, his story is not quite the same as your take, your implication, that he "just don't do it. I'm Michael Moore! Harumph!"
And by the way we are likely all hypocrites in one or the other. We just don't all have our lives examined under a microscope.
I expect it from Repubs, but it is unfathomable that intelligent Democrats would buy into the discrediting of individuals like Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan. As Democrats, we should support the real progressive voices in this country that the GOP and MSM work so hard to silence.
Samson- @ 15:
No, I said I'm not questioning the validity of the statements he made in this particular video. He is wrong far more often than he is right. So instead of being a mouth breather, he should stfu and slip into obscurity. THATS what I'm saying.
Ron Weed @ 85:
Who has discredited them? Discredited right wing blowhards? Moore and Sheehan have had the guts to tell it like it is and put themselves on the line. I have read his books and use his films to teach documentary filmmaking to my students- they love it. You might buy into the discredited myth because the MSM likes to make caracatures out of them but they are the true American patriots speaking truth to power.
