O'Reilly goes ballistic on Scott McClellan over Iraq war propaganda
Download | play
Download | play (h/t Bill W)
Scott McClellan got the Judge Judy treatment from Bill O'Reilly over his new book which rips the Bush administration on a host of issues. In this extended clip, BillO took exception because Scott had the audacity to indict the press over their horrid coverage of the run up to the Iraq war. And poor Bill tries to spin him into the ground over his admissions that the Iraq war was sold to American people using---propaganda. (rough transcript)
O'Reilly: You said they used propaganda and that is a loaded word
McClellan: The White House Iraq group, the White House Iraq group was set up, it's a marketing arm for selling the a war. That was a specific purpose that I talked about in the book
O'Reilly: Because they fervently believed that the guy was a danger and could hand his weapons off.
McClellan: No because the President had a bigger driving motivation which was to transform the middle east.
O'Reilly: You telling me that President Bush didn't believe they had the,
McClellan: No, he did too. He believed that too.
O'Reilly:That's not propaganda then, that's not propaganda.
McClellan: It is when you package it all together---over sell it and over state it to the American people. That is propaganda.
In Bill's mind it's A-OK that the WHIG was formed to set up a one stop shopping mart to shoot war propaganda directly into the veins of the press which would be passed on to fool the American people into thinking we needed to attack Iraq. However, in BillO's mind it was no big thing because Bush felt it justified. Unbelievable. Scotty was unflappable.

If anyone should know about propaganda it's Shill O'Liely.
"Scotty was unflappable."
He's had lots of practice being a dart board for people who more closely resemble journalists than O'Reilly.
Wow, Puffy McMoonface grows a pair, Who'd a thunk it?
Apparently, it doesn't count as propaganda if the administration thinks it's true. Bill, I don't think that word means what you think it means...
Shill'O: "The anti-Bush crowd". You mean a clear majority of Americans? I'm proud anti-Bush!
Pick up a rifle Bill and so "support the troops"!
Lound-mouthed cowardly chickenhawk.
Everyone is wrong except Bill'O and the 28 percenters.
.
And Bill O'Liely is credible how?
.
Watched the whole segment last night (I barely got through it, the most O'Reilly I'd seen in one sitting) and it was painful and funny at once to watch Bill doing his version of Mr Tough Guy, yet getting so many facts wrong, and Scott having sane, reasonable answers and remaining calm. Bill is just so full of himself, sort of leaning back, cocking his head and telling Scott, "I think you're an honest man" -- Bill was a parody of himself last night. Pathetic.
Propaganda is the deliberate, systematic attempt to shape perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behavior to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist.
—Garth S. Jowett and Victoria O'Donnell, Propaganda and Persuasion
Yup, sounds about right to me.
bill was benedict arnold in the 60's, now he's george patton.
Nearly ten minutes of O'Racist and that two faced, guilt ridden, co-murdering tub of shit? No thanks. Can't take it. And little Billy, where the fuck was your righteous anger when it would had been useful all these horrible years?
Who knows better. Scott who was on the inside or Shill O'Lielly who's on the outside and gets a fat paycheck for propagandizing for the reich wing?
Shill'O: "every Bush hater...and America hater..." You mean like Shill'O and the reich's hatred for the last successful president this nation had, Bill Clinton?
Scotty schooled Shill'O and kicked ass!! Way to go Scottie!!!
Its interesting that when journo's say that the white house and intelligence "believed" that saddam had WMD's they don't seem to grasp the difference between believing that something is true and knowing that something is true; I guess for some its just the same, unfortunately
Barry @ 10:
Shill O is just using the Rovian tactic of accusing others (usally falsely) of what he and the reich wing politicos are guilty of.
My favorite moment was watching Scott remind Bill-O that nukes are weapons of mass destruction, when Bill was arguing with him about it. Subject was instantly changed (in spite of the heavy editing).
Wish Scotty would have nailed Rove on hiding behind so-called "executive privilege" in all of the House investigations. Needed to rub his nose in it a little...
O'Reilly is nothing but a neocon apologist, and he probably doesn't even know what a neocon is.
I'm glad you watch this guy so I don't have to.
He was a bully in high school, too.
O'Reilly = waste of a human life
so now BO thinks that Scotty using opinion and spinning a story is wrong... but rambling about rev wright is newsworthy.
HA(ck)
I watched part of the replay at 11 PM and would switch between Bor and Jon Stewart also interviewing Scott. I don't which one happened first but the difference bet. the two was striking. One a real interviewer and one a comic. I did think the O'Reilly was the funniest thing I had seen on the TV in a while.
I know that Bill will say that he, and only he, gave a tough interview. But it was a sad, sad spectacle, Ok not really funny, of a man who has lost all sense of reality.
I am not a fan of Scott but do think he handled himself with grace in the presence of sheer insanity.
o'whiney is just mad he didnt get the exclusive
http://www.queersunited.blogspot.com
Asshole. How could a stupid flaccid alcoholic be the cog of a news channel? Oh I forgot they aren't. Back to falafels penchant for lies....
Reich-wingers eating their own. Get some popcorn.
"Everybody believed it"
apart from a sizeably minority in the US, and most of Europe. Then again, we were the "old" Europe, and so our opinions didn't matter.
Pass the freedom fries, and the "The only french about french mustard is the name" mustard.
Oh, and you have always been allied to Eurasia.
tjerk @ 14:
Absolutely! When going to war and sending our young troops to their possible deaths you better damn well know about the imminent threat, not just "believe."
Our Faith Based government at work.
Campaign mode = PR campaign = marketing blitz = PROPAGANDA!
This, built on top of deceptions = war criminals
lol Inside Edition
very illuminating
if one needed any more proof that faux noise--and its merry band of pundits, news models and media whores--was part and parcel of the effort to use lies, distortions, fear and threats to trick the american public into supporting Operation Iraqi Liberation, look no further than this 'interview' (see, temper tantrum).
its as if the tables have switched. here we have the former WH spokesperson, scotty, trying to expose the bush admin's lies, but defending the govt is the supposed newsman (or so they would attempt to sell him as). amazing.
it also just shows how linked the '4th estate' is with the pre-invasion narrative they helped concoct, package and sell.
then there is o'reilly... soon his name, o'reilly, will be a household term, a descriptive noun, as in o'reillyism. think, mccarthyism.
Interesting Bill O is still using White House talking points to "debate".
I like when O'Reilly says "unncesessary is a strong word -- it was an OPTIONAL war...as was Vietnam."
O'Racist is so 2004....he's claiming he's Clinton and Kerry's fault. Clown.
Whenever a republican starts a sentence with "Everyone believed..." you can assume everything following those two words is pure bullshit.
wow, the more i see scotty the more it seems that he has had a true awakening. certainly very late but it seems to be more than the thin shilling of a book as repube attackers would have you believe. and of course bill O'Really has biten off morethan he can spew here. no news there.
Why is O'Racist is so angry? He clearly is not a journalist what-so-ever. He's so partisan, angry, and vile. He has zero tact and zero ability to act humane. What a zealot.
If believing propaganda makes it not propaganda, then what is it?
Anyone who didn't watch it, should watch it: Scott McClellan made O'Reilly look like the fool that we all know he was, except McClellan was able to prove this in front of everybody. It was cathartic television, excellent. O'Reilly tried to look tough with his comically-timed anger and his snorting, and his questions were all designed to badly disguise his main point: that Scott made Bush look bad.
I'm glad this clown went down.
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 34:
Welcome to the no spin zone.
The most comical part is at the very end when O'Racist is accusing Scotty of presenting an "opinion" when Scotty states he is presenting the truth. The irony.
WinSmith @ 32:
Other faves, when used by republicans:
"The fact of the matter is..."
"No, what I said was..."
"People need to remember, it was BILL CLINTON..."
"I wrote about it in the book..."
This huffpo article, I think, captures a bit of the true Scotty.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jim-moore/what-happened-to-scott-mc_b_1047...
But he still seems to think that Bushco is benign. Well intentioned? "They were just caught up in the campaign mode" is what I've heard him say on more than one show. As Jon Stewart was pressing Scotty last night: The whole (PR) "campaign" to promote the war -- they downplayed any bad outcomes and promoted the rose colored version, thus they lied to us by omission.
They just can't fathom having an honest conversation with the citizens. "The Noble Lie" of Strauss.
Campaign mode = PR campaign = marketing blitz = PROPAGANDA!
York was right (for the wrong reasons). Scotty was idealistic but naive.
Byron York calls Scott McClellan 'naive'
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/06/02/byron-york-calls-scott-mcclella...
Bonkers @ 39:
"Cut his mic, cut it, cut it!"
"F**K it! F**King thing sucks!!!"
Bill just got Scotty on YESTERDAY ?!?
Boy, talk about eating the crumbs everyone else has left.
Jeez, Scott's been on everything already since his book was leaked. I'll bet even the Food Network interviewed him before BillO did.
Talk about irrelevant.
I'm looking forward to the smearing of Gen. Sanchez by O'Reilly and his acolytes.
Bonkers @ 39:
It amazes me is they totally go deer in the headlights when you say: and the President before him was Bush.
Not a single thought, sentence, nor response from Scott was able to be completed... I actually found myself counting down "5...4...3...2.." every time McClellan spoke, fully expecting him to be cut off, and redirected. It was a terrible interview, and I don't understand why O'Reilly's loyal viewers don't become infuriated by his lack of basic civility. Righties, say what you want about Olbermann, but the man is extraordinarily civil to those he is interviewing, and allows points to be made. Just an all around poorly conducted interview by a 2-bit hack with a "half-deflated basketball he calls a face"; man i love that line.
It is AMAZING how O'Lielly knows soooo much more than people who are directly involved in whatever topic he decides to rant about. McClellan was on the INSIDE for chrissake and yet O'Lielly can sit there and tell McClellan what "really" went on? What an egomanical putz.
Wow. Where to begin?
BO: "... unnecessary is a strong word."
Oh no, it's not. But "arrogant" is a better word to describe the flouting of UN principles (multilateralism) to invade a country that posed no imminent threat to the UN.
BO: it's not propaganda because people believed Saddam posed "a danger".
Huh? That wouldn't disqualify something as propaganda.
O'Racist spent the entire interview defending the GOPigs, the White House, the Reich-wing Party, and herr dubyah. Do you reich-wingers really "think" O'racist is a credible "journalist"?
Rusty Shackleford @ 43:
Decorated war hero O'Reily will be taking off the gloves.
Funny as I type this, Limpbaugh is going on and on that McClellan was not qualified to be the White House Press Secretary.
harley @ 44:
Right wing extremist knuckledraggers and 'historical content' do not a match make. If it happened more than a month ago, they are clueless.
(unless its related to Rev Wright)
I'll be dancing in the streets the day this schoolyard bully of a commentator is off the air. I'm am so sick of his b/s attack dog 'journalism'.
He's on about McClellan's opinions WHEN ALL BILLO DOES ALL DAY IS SPEW HIS OPINIONS AS FACT.
I'm completely dumbfounded by his stupidity and hypocrisy.
Chico Hussein @ 50:
His father invaded Panama due to the propaganda that a Navy LT was kidnapped. The son had a tough act to follow.
harley @ 49:
Now that Limpball's 'Operation Chaos' has backfired and failed miserably, he wants to hop on the 'Destroy the messenger' bandwagon.
Little Scotty McClellan made the big bad wolf Bill O'Reilly huff and puff his own house down. I love it when all the little guy has to do to expose the stupidity and insanity of a bully is to allow him to be what he is without backing down. McClellan looked like the confident unflappable adult, and O'Reilly looked like a paranoid spoiled brat who had doubled-up on Ritalin after consumning a box of pop tarts and a six pack of Red Bull.
BO: people were saying "he's got 'em" (WMD)
And many were saying the evidence was inconclusive at best. Either way, belief or disbelief in the WMD story doesn't mean the sell job for the war wasn't propaganda.
BO: "every single civil servant" believed the Saddam threat
Oh please, Billo. That's utter nonsense and even a fool like you would know it.
BO: "Colin Powell at the UN" sold people on the need for invasion.
Right. And that presentation of his wasn't propaganda?
I liked how O'Really used the word "me" to mean the entire Press Establishment.
Ego much?
It's sad really. Now Scotty can't talk BillO out of it. McCellan and Bushco created the Faux news Monsters of Delusion.
Norse @ 25:
Also pass the "liberty bacon", the "there is no evidence" thing kept Canada out of Iraq.
Wait-- to say the Iraw invasion was "unnecessary" is overstating it... but saying it was "optional" is not?
How are that any different?
Rememer when Bill-o said that if there were no WMD he would never trust the Bush administration again.
WAnglais1 @ 56:
And Scotty kept telling "no" that he didn't mean O'Racist....because he knows faux is in the pocket of the White House and did their job as the propaganda arm of the GOPigs.
Mitch @ 60:
Yes. O'Racist doesn't.
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 34:
He's angry because he's never slept with a woman he didn't have to pay. His strict morality won't permit it.
Uncle_Jack @ 63:
LOL!
andy @ 17:
Of course he knows neocons, it's the name at the bottom of his paycheck!
CafeenMan @ 2:
I think Scotty's skill set has been grossly misunderestimated by all sides. As ridiculous and beleagured as he came off in his insanely high pressure cooker job as press Secretary, Scotty never gave a thing up while he was at that podium.
Never.
Now that the heat is off of him and he can relax we may find him to be a very potent ally to have on this side of the fence.
~Nyc
Bill-O and Scotty.
Pot, meet kettle.
Perhaps it is a sign of how low American society and values have sunk when people tune in with almost bated breath to hang on to every word that a former tabloid reporter utters on the small screen. O'Reilly is a demagogue who could have stepped out of a Sinclair Lewis novel or a character taken from the films A Face In The Crowd and All The King's Men. Perhaps this is a testimony, as Lonesome Rhodes proved in A Face In the Crowd, of how easily Americans can allow themselves to be manipulated by someone who appeals to the baser emotions of the American populace. Could it be that Edward R. Murrow is shaking his head from on high as to the gullibility of the American people?
Bill (wh)O'reilly = DOUCHE. BAG.
This leads to a strange conundrum. Should we forgive Scotty for being the mouthpiece of the evildoers, or should we defend him now for helping us spread the truth. Either way, people like this are going to grill us for it somehow.
Forgive or forget? What to do?
BO- "You're telling me I didn't do my job!"
SM- "I didn't say *you* didn't do your job."
Oh, Jesus-- does anyone actually think that O'Reilly's "job" is to report facts? O'Reilly did his job perfectly. He sold a pack of lies for the GOP. McClellan should've said as much.
Nyc La Brets @ 66:
at least we know why he was always so sweaty and shaky during those press interviews. It's hard to lie like that without looking nervous.
Why would an "impartial" and "fair and balanced" "journalist" continue to rant over and over about "anti-bush people"? The book had nothing to do with libruls, "anti-bush people", or the American public at large. Strange. Anyone want to bet O'Racist spends 30 minutes tonight patting himself on the back over his interview with Scotty? He'll bring in Rove and Geraldo to help self-congratulate himself.
Wow...since when does shouting "what's your beef" over and over count as an interviewing technique?
I think BO's head is going to implode.
JoeMarasmus @ 70:
You don't have to forgive him or defend him, do you? Just enjoy the show, and keep pointing out how what he and a number of people formerly on the D.C. payroll are now saying supports what opponents of the Iraq invasion were saying in 2002. No forgiveness necessary for that.
I remember O'Lielly clearly stating at one time that if the WMD pretext turned out not to be true, he "would not trust this administration again."
I wondered whatever happened to that?
harley @ 49:
Well, Limpballs is correct because McClellan has revealed he has a small amount of conscience . Not much, but more than absolute zero .
I think BillO should be evaluated for "Bush Adm PTSD".
For BillO when there are factual presentations of Bush not on the up and up or incompetence. Those with the facts are merely opinionators or Bush haters. BillO displays the continuous campaign mentallity of the media for the White House, Scotty was defining.
And BillO's disagreement is not just his opinion from outside the white House walls which is not the case of Scotty's opinion?
Will we be hearing from good ole boy Tony Snow. The FOX media manipulation connection that got so obvious that Tony was just given the Press Secretary's job.
Hitler and Goebbels believed with all their hearts that their anti-Semitic and uber-mench propaganda was true. So according to BillO, that makes it not propaganda. Or at least it makes them not culpable for their crimes.
Bill is not a journalist. I laughed when he took offense at Scotty's implications about the press establishment not doing their jobs.
Whatever I might think of Mclellans' timing, at least he acted with class and held his own. Of course, anyone with three brain cells knocking around in their heads could outwit O' Reilly.
Thank you for giving me a voice, Bill. I'm your core audience (70 years of age) and I'm sick and tired of these youngsters ignoring me. I don't understand the internets and I wouldn't trust them if I did. I love how you dismiss these so called facts with a wave of your hand and the muttered "I don't think so".
I do it all the time now!
Usually I feel pretty helpless and insignificant as the world has progressed and I continue to cling to my outdated beliefs, but after watching you I feel inspired to dust off the old pistol and teach a lesson to the next teenager who steps on my lawn.
As a wise man once said, "It's not about mistakes. It's about choices. And I've chosen to make a mstake".
May God bless you and keep you safe.
Do you think Bill has seen his rap video "Fuck it!" yet?
It's not your fault, C&L, but boy does Red Lasso suck.
Why did so many regular joes know that SH didn't have WMD before we even the war? I'm just a regular internet user and I knew. Oh, it's because W chased out the inspectors while they were doing their job. And lied about SH not letting them in. It was freakin obvious from day one the war was a crock. Why were there millions of protestors against the war before it even started?
It was a war against the wrong country based on lies.
PS: Billo works for the gvt.

Did anyone catch McClellon on Hardball yesterday? To his credit Matthews focused on Cheney/Libby and the deeper level of corruption that most of the m$m continues to ignore. Tweety is still a fucking clown, but he did good on this interview and has done a decent job covering this story so far.
ORaly? He's is like a piece of dogshit finally drying up and losing its stink in the sun; I have troubles trying to wrap my mind around the notion that anyone truely buys his schtick anymore.
The Daily Show interview with McClellon was about what I expected from Jon, though it was nice to hear Stewart not let Scotie mince words and called this for what it was- homicide.
Holy shit, that was the most textbook example of absurdity I have ever seen. There is no logic in that wrinkly old penis-head of his! No facts! No independent reasoning! I wonder how big was that check his parents wrote the principal to get him a printed high school diploma?
Note that the word 'lies' or 'misinformation' does not appear there. Something does not have to be untrue or unbelieved to be propaganda.
It's almost like BillO thinks it's not propaganda because the president believed it.
The end was a bit interesting, where Orly got into the difference between truth and personal opinion. Kind of illustrates how Fox generally interchanges these when they feel like it.
O liely you didn't do your job back then and you are not doing your job now, Juo never let any one else speak. YOU HAVE ALL THE ANSWERE. YOU DUMBASS CAN'T EVEN SEE YOU ARE DILUSIONAL.
Let us all hope that as O'Reilly gets angrier and angrier as his neocon bullshit is exposed, he will ultimate die on the air of a well deserved stroke.
Screw him and all the idiots that I know that "edumicate" themselves from watching Fox.
You guys listening to Mr U.S.A. Patriotic Limbaugh? He just said he would never run for public office because he would never work for that kind of pay. So patriotic.
lutton @ 87:
Of course, that's exactly what he thinks. Holy Christ in a Honda, Loofah Boy is stupid.
Gordy @ 84:
Hate to nitpick, but BillO actually works for one of the corporations that "own" most of the government. In other words, they have the same boss.
Bill'O is suffering from de-hydration, he needs a quick water boarding to help him out ........
Billo you can't handle the truth.....you are an ass. Your loved bu haters. The black and white thinkers of the world praise you........too bad the world is more complicated Billy. I hope your terrible show....with its bias questions/panels dies on the vine.
harley @ 91:
And such a slap in the face to all those loyal listeners of his who make a lot less than their Reps and Senators.
harley @ 91:
Last fall he donated $4.2mm to the Marine Corp- Law Enforcement Foundation, harley. I would think that for most normal Americans that might be perceived as patriotic. Maybe, like Al Gore, he thinks he can do more doing what he does best.
Geez, walk away for a few hours, and viola, O' Tinytool has another "episode."
Used to be that just the headline would piss me off........now, I laugh like hell. Also, the facial expressions our boy bill uses are extremely amusing......but why, oh why, do he and hannity have to be Irish?? Of course, John Kusack makes up for it!
There were people that did not believe the lie of WMD in Iraq. Scott Ritter, Hans Blix, and later David Kaye, former Senior UN weapons inspectors who were on the ground in Iraq with scientiffic teams who knew first hand. The intell about WMD was immaterial, as the Downing street memo stated, Bush said the intell was being tailored around the goal of invading Iraq.
A memo that barely saw the light of day in the US news bubble.
harley @ 91:
What an elitist.
Oh poor Billy ...
good on scott
To the 28 per centers. When you listen to O'reilly, please turn on your brains. When you look up the word insane, O'reilly's picture will be right beside it.
dennis @ 97:
He donated a letter from Harry Reid. Would look kind of funny if he sold it and kept the money?
It also ensures he gets extended on AFRTs.
princess @ 97:
Wrong again, princess, drugbaugh-the-elitist raised money for the Marine Corp- Law Enforcement Foundation, princess. He didn't donate $4.2 mm [sic] of his salary, princess. Can you figure out the difference, princess? We know you can't, princess.
harley @ 91:
Maybe that's the real reason he ran away from going to Vietnam.
BaddogLtd @ 80:
Very nicely done! My in-laws(70's but hip) voted for bush twice because their parish in Cape May "swayed" them. However, about three months after Katrina we got a call from my father-in-law saying that they were both really sorry they voted for him.
Now, they actually loathe him because they are losing a shitload of money in the stock market.
Notice how he starts his 3 points on his middle finger. That wasn't deliberate was it?
For a person that is well over 6 foot tall, ol BO is a very small person, no integrity, no guts, no morality, gee aside from that, he's just a peach of a guy. Thanks to C&L for having a gag reflex strong enough to watch this egg-sucking weasel for us, you must have a running tab at your local barf-bag outlet. In fact that might be a good idea for a new product line, what would be nicer than a custom made barf-bag with the photo of BO, rove, gw,little dick or any number of "neo-polecats. They could also be kept in your first aid kit to induce vomiting in case of poisoning, collect and trade them with your friends. We could even branch out to sex toy bags, photos of good looking man or woman printed on a bag, sized to fit over the head of neos, in case you lost a bet and had to have sex with them. They could have animals on them for the "intelligent design" sector as well as angles. Bags come printed with a face view or back of head view, and for the lucky to ever get laid once in a lifetime band, bags would come printed with a hand,* note male or female hand when ordering-CEO
Reich-wingers, like princess, "think" it's patriotic to wear a flag pins, put a yellow ribbon magnet on their SUV, make fun of vets and wear purple heart band-aides, listen/watch faux, and give money to charities for fallen vets that came about that way because of the war they demand to continue. Sick.
I'm not sure if part 2 of this interview is posted here. I kept getting an error message for red lasso .. so I went to youtube (links posted below)
in part 2 Billo admits (pretty much) that he watched Scott on KO .. he couldn't say his name and his inference was dripping with disgust . . . lol
part2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkNYVRj9XCs
Billo can't understand how someone can take off their partisan hat
yes and you do have to separate your personal affection from the truth ... and I guess to Bill allowing people for voice their anger at Bush for this is "killing him"
asshat
good on Scott

DMS @ 64:
I don't believe this man has EVER slept with a woman which is why he is sooooo angry. Eeew! Can't imagine looking at THAT face in the heat of passion.
harley @ 103:
He matched the $2.1mm bid he received for the letter, harley.
Harry Reid failed to match anything, even though he did try to take some of the credit for it.
According to Bill, most of America hates itself.
Patricia @ 9:
If so many countries were so convinced about the WMD, as BOR loves to repeat, why didn't they all go to war?

Less than 1% of his yearly income.
I love how O'Reilly conflates "America-haters" with "Bush-haters" as if the two were synonymous.
And of course, everyone has forgotten how in March of 2001 the super-secret Cheney Energy Committee had maps of Iraqi oil fields and the names of the foreign oil companies who were involved in developing those fields.
People have such short memories...
Limbaugh "McCain does not do things for his own personal benefit".
Keating 5?
McCain received $112,000 by 1987 from Keating and Keating's relatives and employees to McCain's Senate campaign, more than any of the other Senators. - Yet was not punished? Interesting very interesting.
The paper also reported that the McCains, sometimes accompanied by their daughter and baby-sitter, had made at least nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard the American Continental Corporation jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. - Nope do not see a benefit there.
fingerbo @ 117:
Let's wait and see how he feels about critics of a President Obama. Will they be America-haters? Will he be one of them? Probably.
If I was there the first thing it would do is tell Billo to stop pointing you finger at me. That poppas asshole acting like he was scolding a child. Scott handled it quite well, especially in the second part when he said he was trying not to be partisan. Bill is too stupid to get it. Good job Scotty. Let's keep this alive. FOX is trying to bury it like it does other things by saying he is helping the Bush haters. He could not rattle Scott.
that was a great comedy routine
scottie plays the straight man perfectly
harley @ 118:
Please tell me what that percentage has anything to do with anything, harley.
He donated 200% of the money he took in from the winning bid on the letter.
That donation tells nothing of what he gave to charity the rest of that year out of his regular salary.
I forced myself to watch this vid... Why forced? Because I don't like either one of these two... I gotta say though.. while not a fan of McClellan at all... He held his own against Billo Windbag.... and made several decent points.... I don't know where Fat Scotties little tome will lead but I want to send Billo a personal message as regards some of his puffery on this segment... Bill.... If the actual truth, the actual hard facts of the situation in the book makes your boyfriend Chimpy look bad...
That's just the way it is....That's reality.... You can cry in your beer till hell freezes over but if objective facts and analysis holds up the worst of the opinions held by the so-called Bush haters, (I think the term America lovers is more apropo personally) then tough shit asshole... Objectively?? Bush has been the worst thing that ever happened to this nation in 232 years and you have spent the last eight years propping up lie after lie in an effort to make him look good. I don't really have to give you any more of a ration of shit... Your cheerleading for this immoral fucker and his band of miscreants speaks for itself......JD
dennis @ 125:
100% your math is fuzzy.
AFRTs goes all over the world which ensures he snags "insiders". Being on ARFTs probably puts $2.1M a month into his pocket.
gwen @ 30:
Oh...so we're leasing the battlefield with an option to buy?
Rufus T. Firefly: "It's too late. I've already paid a month's rent on the battlefield. ..."
it's awesome.
only bill o or colbert could so loudly proclaim as a "defense":
"I wasn't being a mouthpiece for the government!! I was just repeating what government officials said!"
"I mean come on! Who am I to question what the President tells me!?"
Bush was warned 3 months before hand not to use the phony "16 words" British intell but he does anyway cause it was nice 'n sexy.Bill has zero problem with that because he's such an independent no spin kinda guy.
dennis @ 97:
Bloviating?
pinkobait @ 130:
Bill O said after that .... let's move on.
Nice. Faced with a fact that puts your positions in the negative the instinct is just to move on.
You guys getting this? Before the invasion O'Really was using White House talking points to justify the invasion - now he is using White House talking points to debate someone that was in the White House before the invasion. Oozing with irony.
Bill O'Reilly is Mayor McCheese in this Propaganda McDonaldland and he KNOWS it.
nemo @ 120:
Some do, but not all of us. I too have been, for years and years, screaming and hollaring about the "cheney dealings behind closed doors" with oil and gas industry
in 2001. But, as you know, when Judicial Watch, the Sierra Club and others took
their justifiable(in my opinion) to the courts, a Rep. judge ruled in favor of this administration; indicating that "executive privilege and/or national security" were
properly invoked by the admin. and therefore, it is very unlikely that we will ever
know the truth as to goings on behind the closed doors...Other than to be assured
that it involved lies and deceit favoring the oil and gas industry...with cheney being
behind it ALL. He was and continue to be the biggest "winner"(financially) due to his
underhanded and dishonest involvment.
harley @ 127:
No, 2 times something is 200%, dear genius. Once again, he received $2.1mm for his letter. He donated that $2.1mm (100%) along with a matching $2.1mm (100%), for a total of $4.2mm (200% of the original $2.1mm).
Now, how does your 1% figure mean anything?
As to the AFRT's, so what? Even if it meant keeping on the airwaves, which I doubt was in jeapordy anyway, it only bolsters the case that staying in his current job is more beneficial than going into public office.
I think this comes off as a battle of two losers. I don't think weak Scotty schooled BillO. O'Reilly brings up Judith Miller and the NYT, and Scotty doesn't even mention that the Judy story was a plant, a lie fed to her by Scooter. Scotty keeps trying to have it both ways, talking about the "permanent campaign state" and trying to keep the fig leaf of positive feelings toward Buschco. But he can't have it both ways. He is prevaricating. Weak on the podium, weak on the pundit shows, weak in his statements. Scott doughy McClellan will go down in history as a weak, weak man.
Barry @ 10:
Indeed -- and notice that there's nothing in that definition which states that the determination of whether something is or is not propaganda depends upon whether or not the propagandist believes that what he or she is saying is true. Actually, history seems to make it crystal clear that Hitler certainly believed in the truth of everything he said -- yet according to O'Reilly's definition of the word propaganda, Hitler never used it. I think O'Reilly would find it hard to agree with the concept that Hitler never used propaganda, because he clearly did -- but at the same time, O'Reilly would have us believe that it was solely Bush's belief in the truth of his own statements and not the actual state of their veracity which kept his statements from being propaganda! As always, O'Reilly has conveniently twisted logic in order to support his preferred argument.
cage free brown @ 133:
Naah....O'Leilly is obviously the Grimace...Limbaugh is Mayor McCheese and Hannity is the HamBurglar.
Biggus Diggus @ 136:
May be so, but he'll rake in a bundle from sales of his book.
so oLielly brings out a liar to refute another liar.
priceless.
dennis @ 135:

He sold the letter for 2.1M he matched 2.1M.
His skin in the game was 2.1M = 100%
By the way, I am a genius. IQ 179.
According to the Wechsler Intelligence Scales, an IQ Score of 179 is classified as very superior intelligence. Any person with an IQ score of 179 or greater is functioning within the range of very superior intelligence. The Wechsler Scales classify very superior intelligence as an IQ score in the range of 130 or higher.
For those that don't know the same time as the big Reid letter auction. There was a movement to have Limbaugh dropped from AFRTs.
Looks like the diversion tactic has taken some people off the real issue:
The publicity stunt regurgitates a fierce feud earlier this month in which the letter, signed by the Senate Democratic leadership and four Democratic senators running for president, urging Mays "to publicly repudiate" comments made by Limbaugh "that call into question" the service and sacrifice of troops who oppose the war in Iraq.
"Our troops are fighting and dying to bring to others the freedoms that many take for granted. It is unconscionable that Mr. Limbaugh would criticize them for exercising the fundamentally American right to free speech. Mr. Limbaugh has made outrageous remarks before, but this affront to our soldiers is beyond the pale".
------
So Limbaugh got to take about the auction instead of the issue at hand on his show for 3 weeks.
O'Liely sees what he wants to see, convinced that the "left wing conspiracy" is using McClellan. Scotty says "Not true, Bill", but Bill refuses to change his mind.
Bill would be much more at home in Burma, where he could fearlessly attack all those who criticize "dear leader."
Much of what SM has said... many have known about for along time...
People following all of this know.... practically every action taken by
the CheneyBushRoveElite White House has hurt the American people.
If US soldiers knew what has and continues to be done to hurt our country and people they would be on their way home to help their country.. There is a reason why Soldiers are blocked from reading US blogs. Bring the Troops home now... indeed.
EVERYTHING has been a lie or deception.
Thats why Bush and the global Elite had to "own the media"
...and bush courts had to pass all the whistleblower laws.. But thankfully many are still getting the word out.
make no mistake.. global media gatekeepers are positioned.
But when the people actually figure out what is really going on....
Whats next? We can only guess..
a thinking man recently observed and sang...
"Looks like we're in for heavy weather
..Economic meltdown"
harley @ 141:
Hey you two...get over yourselves. If your egos are suffering, talk to family..
And I'm Noam Chomsky, harley.
The letter was his, and he sold it. That money was his, technically, upon sale of the letter.
He could've gone down to Cuba and spent it on cigars or whatever he felt like, but he donated it. So the original $2.1mm was his skin in the game and so was the matching $2.1mm.
Now, true American genius, how about that 1% figure? What does that number have to do with anything?
Doggiebobo @ 145:
Hey you two...get over yourselves. If your egos are suffering, talk to family..
I will withdraw from this thread like a phony soldier. LMAO.
During the September 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers."
O'Reilly is no journalist. He's basically a loud mouthed opinion stuffer who rams he's narrow minded opinion down your throat. It's always the same and your just dealing with his caustic personality every time. He's a very angry man. Scott does a masterful job handling the flak from this hack. He had a lot of practice. Great job Scotty.
Someone needs to explain to Bill O'Lielly that we dissenters didn't and don't need McClellan's book to justify our dissent against the Bush administration. We already had everything we needed in a little thing called the U.S. Constitution. Not that O'Lielly would be familiar with it.
dennis @ 146:
Yeah using your logic - he could of kept the money from a letter he promoted for 3 weeks sale proceeds to be donated to charity.
He used the letter auction as a diversion tactic. The 1% (actually .0563%) puts things into prospective. 2.1M is about 50 years of wages for J6P.
Angry O'rpheus doesn't think it's propaganda? Funny Bush does.
"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for
the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."
-President George W. Bush, Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005
