Informed Comment: Iraqi allies we've left behind: "The people on my list have been tortured, they've been raped, they've lost body limbs. There's one guy on my list who's been thrown out of a moving vehicle. And all of this because they helped us. They came every single day to try to pitch in, in our efforts there."

Former Hillary Clinton (R) strategist Mark Penn is teaming up with former Bush (R) strategist Karen Hughes to “create a bipartisan consulting organization to advise corporations in crisis.” How telling....
P.S. On NBC today, McGramps said we can't wait until January to take action on Iran.
OT, but here's Warpig's answer to Maliki:
US rejects Iraqi withdrawal demand
Spokesman says withdrawal will be based on conditions on ground.
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 2:
Are you serious, Matt?
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 2:
The beginning of last week, John Bolton said that Israel was poised to attack Iran between Election Day and Inauguration Day... especially if Obama wins (kid you not).
The rhetoric out of both countries since then has been schizophrenic: Israel says it will ease off if Iran agrees to cut nuke technology, Iran says "screw you!", then Iran says "umm, okay... maybe we'll lean off nukes"; Israel rattles some sabres, Iran says it will retaliate hard if US helps Israel... then they say, "okay, let's not fight". Israel seems to agree. Then this morning Iran tests a medium range ballistic missile that can easily reach Israel.
Who knows what will happen, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if Israel does attack Iran at the oh-so-convenient time of between Nov. 4th and Jan. 20. And really, I think Israel is going to do our dirty work and we support them. With the US military already stretched thin and the unpopularity of sending the troops into a 3rd conflict, going all the way to the top generals in the Pentagon, it makes sense to use Israel as our mercenaries.
When is the media going to start talking about the fact that McCain apparently can't get more than a few dozen people to any speaking event he does??
Isn't that at least part of what Obama is trying to point out with the whole stadium acceptance speech??
Every McCain event looks ridiculously sparse for a presidential campaign and the media usually don't even pan around the room to show how small the crowd is, they seem to be (as usual) ignoring anything negative about McCain.
But if Obama suddenly couldn't fill a high school gymnasium, you think they won't be harping on it 25/7??
And all of this because they helped us. They came every single day to try to pitch in, in our efforts there.”
How republican of them. I can hear Dick Cheney saying..."Hey, they volunteered to help us, nobody made them do it, it's all about personal responsibility you know. And go fuck your self for questioning me." My young repug nephew ran a campaign for a local rethug running for county commissioner, the fuck wad promised that he could keep the computer he was using to track things with, the idiot lost, didn't give the PC to my nephew and my nephew still doesn't get it about these people.
Blue Buddha @ 5:
Haven't we been doing each other's dirty work for decades?
This won't stop as long as we let people rult who think of our troops as pawns in their oh-so-profitable games
Re: McCain ad "attacking the GOP"
Really, I don't see this ad as attacking the GOP, but him flip-flopping all over the place to woo voters on the fence in the upper Midwest. One second, it mentions clean energy, next second it mentions drilling for more oil, next second it mentions renewable energy, next second it mentions tapping oil within our borders, ad nauseum.
Dr. Acula @ 3:
Translation: "conditions in the oil agreements...."
Why does McCain have such a bug up his ass about Iran? What does he have against them? Does he want to bomb the country for his BFF Lieberman? Do he and Joe have a pact or something?
Its about time people understood the idea that we DO NOT have a free-market in this country. The Federal Reserve and its chairmen like Greenspan and Bernanke have proven time and time again that they interefere in the market extensively- and create bubbles(like the housing market). I would hope C&L would take this to stop blaming the free-market for our economic problems when we have had nothing like it. Places like Hong kong and Switzerland have much more economic freedom than we do, infact, so does china.
"They came every single day to try to pitch in, in our efforts there.”
Call those people what you will but no matter what, they are forever marked by many Iraqi people as traitors. Iraq will never again be their home again and from the looks of the Bush Administration's actions they never leave Iraq alive. This is the price to be paid when you cut deals with the Devil (I.E. the Bush Administration).
pissed off patricia @ 11:
Unfortunately, Obama isn't much better in regards to Iran.
From AP "Obama, who called Iran a "great threat" on ABC's "Good Morning America, said President George W. Bush has not backed up confrontational rhetoric with economic sanctions."
Why does Obama wish to put in economic sanctions on Iran and cause further suffering to the Iranian people in their daily life? That's exactly what sanctions do, and it is an act of war to attempt to starve these people. Unless he changes his views, Obama is trash like the rest.
Voting on the Dodd-Feingold amendment for Fisa. Needs 60. Bond led the debate as usual.
The corrupt Senate voted no of course and it failed.
Going thru the motions, caving as usual.
Why Americans trust these fools is beyond me.
The Grandpa ad is running here in PA - it made me laugh, even though it wasn't really funny...
getalife @ 15:
travesty. all those that support the appeasement bill, and voted against the D-F amendments, do not belong in congress. they get my total contempt and disgust. i spit in their general direction.
they, again, sell us out to the highest corporate bidder and continue to give bush pretty presents wrapped in bows (made out of the shredded constitution).
The List Project is essential stuff, and the McCain dissection is very interesting. McCain's honesty is very much the Emperor's New Clothes... Most of his "straight talk" on his bus is chit-chat, not policy, and he gets very prickly when pushed on one of his many convoluted, confused positions.
The ad by the RNC is more like a general ad. "If you've never voted before, here are some things that might interest you." Yeah, that ad ain't gonna get apolitical apathetic people to vote.
