John McCain flip flops on Taxes on Social Security
By John Amato Monday Jul 28, 2008 6:30pm
John McCain has repeatedly attacked Obama over taxes and said that he will not raise taxes under any circumstances---except to fix Social Security apparently. That's what he said on ABC's THIS WEEK. via CNN
George: Is payroll tax increases on the table as well?
McCain: There's nothing that's off the table. I have my positions and I will articulate them, but nothing is off the table.
Now he's saying he won't raise taxes. It's hard to keep up. The wingnut group Club for Growth is howling about this one.

$490,000,000,000 budget deficit next year. Grown ups are in charge.
It's really time for Obama to step up his Media Battle game. It isn't enough to point out what a chucklehead McCain is. Bush was a chucklehead too with a big mouth to convince everyone that Kerry was a wimp.
Let's get in the verbal sparring ring, Obama. Stop preaching to the choir.
So he was against taxes before he was for them? Or for them before he was against them? I'm so confusseded!!1!1!!
I'm so confused. Guess that's one way to avoid taking hits. Just keep changing your position.
And Obama would be the risky choice, right?
What happened to the Ted Stevens indictment thread? Did that one get stuck in a tube somewhere?
If I was McCain's campaign consultant I would advise him to stay away from all discussions of issues involving math. Avoid topics like Social Security, Balance of Payments, Oil Futures Speculation, the Stock Market, Health Care crisis, Budget Deficits, National Debt and Inflation. Any mention of monetary issues that require the candidate to invoke big numbers immediately puts the American public to sleep. Our eyes glaze over and we fall into a deep coma. McCain should stick to attacking Obama on visceral emotional issues that require no thought. Accuse Obama of selling out to Arab terrorists because he did not visit the hospitalized troops when he was in Germany. Now, that is an important issue all Americans can get excited about.

Here ya go.
Or you could just scroll down the main page. ;)

He was against higher taxes before he was for them, but now he is against them? Got it? Okay, but he is no flip-flopper.
JimboSlice @ 8:
uhhhhh, ok. I'll think upon it while I'm slingin' beers for the local HillWilliams tonight. Gotta go. See ya late on the Open Thread all.

Thanks, I just figured out what that little wheel on the mouse thingy does. Maybe I should be the Internet guru in the US Senate, now that Ted Stevens is about to be the head of the license plate manufacturing division of Sing Sing.
one thing is for sure, you can count on mccain and bush to not beat themselves up about their screw ups.
the flip-flop that mcSame does each
day and loves the most is.......
having his a$$ up waiting for those
hand
outsinserted from lobyists.McSame is a broken record. Give him anything, and he'll flip-flop. Jeez, does he really want to lose? He just alienated his right-wing base. The guy is nuts or senile.
I'd say he's both and more, no better then who we have now i can't wait for obama to get in office so we can get some real tax relief that most if not all of us deserve.
How anyone can find a reason to vote for this assclown and not be a total racist is beyond me. As Jimmi the grey put it Hillwilliams one and all

It seems like thats exactly what he's doing here in MI. Every other commercial on our local stations is a McCain ad; I've seen little to no advertising for Obama. Of course none of McCain's advertising contains anything of substance, just the usual "war hero" stuff and Obama slams. I'm hoping the dems throw some money here soon before this crap starts getting to all of the undecideds the media says we have.
They want to steal that too.
Our government is out of control.
mccain should know a lot about social security he collects
it..........next he is asked about social security the question should start off with senator.. you collect social security so you are aware of the challenges that system has. what do you plan to do to strenghten that system?
McMagoo is an absolute goldmine of gaffes and flip flops... it's incredible to me that the Obama camp haven't ran any attack ads ridiculing this halfwit. Either they're unbelievably incompetent and haven't cut any ads, or they're gutless. WTF are they waiting for?
mcKeatingFive gets $2000.00/month from SocSec.
Go figure.
I'm more concerned that Stephanopolous sounds like Dubya when asking McCain a question.
a big part of the gop strategy is to run up deficits with the intention of handcuffing congress into cutting social security benefits. looting pension plans is what they do whether private or public.
I think he's doing the vague 'nothing is off the table' thing because his memory is so bad that if he covers EVERYTHING with 'nothing is off the table' he doesn't have to remember what he said anymore. Fast forward three days or two weeks or whatever;
Journalist: "Did you not say recently that you would not raise taxes?"
McCain: "No, I said, as you will recall, that "nothing is off the table".
Journalist: "Haven't you refused in the past to consider a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq?"
McCain: "No, I said, "nothing is off the table".
See? Easy.
wha? fix social security? i thought you wanted to hunt down and kill it. attaboy! you just keep on touching that there third rail johnny!
WTF!!! I know they're trying to make McCain look younger, but are they applying his makeup with a putty knife? He definitely has that clay sculpture look.
Apparently one of his campaign advisers said that McCain doesn't speak for the campaign on that issue.
Seriously, I'm not making that up.
You know, McCain could be comforting 9/11 families right now. He could be cleaning up garbage on the streets of Arizona. He could be catching bin Laden. He could be hugging the troops. He could be donating his kidney to a kid with lupus... But instead he is sleeping.
It says a lot about his priorities.
Is there anything McCain doesn't flip flop on?
McCain is Insane
Give the old fart a break will ya'?
Between age, years in captivity, and all that viagara Cindy keeps dumping into his prune juice, ole' Johnny doesn't know if he's cummin' - or goin'!
Hypocrites.
With social security private accounts they want no limit on the amount they put in that will never be taxes.
Without social security private accounts they want a limit on the amount they pay taxes on.
Beef Jerky Says: $490,000,000,000 budget deficit next year. Grown ups are in charge.

That does not count the funding for the housing bailout bill.
if i hear the words "flip flops" one more time...
STOP USING THEIR LANGUAGE!
The dirty little secret here is that "anti-tax" Republicans are not really that opposed to payroll taxes, because they are extremely regressive, falling most heavily on workers with the lowest incomes. (When was the last time you heard a mainstream Republican agitate for cuts in payroll taxes? They only want to cut income and capital-gains taxes, which are mostly paid by the upper-income crowd.)
In fact, some Republicans (IIRC Grover Norquist was one) have privately called for higher taxes on poor and middle-income people, so as to increase support for tax cuts that will primarily benefit the rich.
McCain smells like sour, old butt cheese...
Uh, oh!
Now the hard-headed, mouth breathing, knuckledraggers are not going to be behind McSame the full 100% !
