O'Reilly attacks Scott McClellan for telling the truth
By SilentPatriot Monday Jul 28, 2008 9:00pm
Last week Scott McClellan told Chris Matthews that the White House "certainly" made an effort to get "talking points" out to FOX commentators like Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. You knew O'Reilly wouldn't take this lying down so yesterday he went into a diatribe about McClellan, calling him a "liar" and an "idiot" for daring to come clean and speak the truth.

"I never once received a talking point from the White House, so McClellan is not telling the truth about me!" Should I be angry? Nah. But I have to call a lie a lie, especially because this garbage was picked up by CNN. [...] By the way, McClellan would never dare say that to my face."
UPDATE: John Amato: O'Reilly seems to think everything revolves around him. Scotty was talking about FOX News and not O'Reilly specifically. GOP talking points run through FOX like blood runs through our veins. BillO can throw all the temper tantrums he wants. It's just fact. And Bill doesn't need White House talking points anyway.

Frist!
Okay, now that that's out of the way, Bill will never invite McClellan to his show to give him the opportunity to say it to his face.
one begins to suspect oreilly's shattered more than one mirror clobbering the scumbag peering back at him in his bathroom every morning...
Maybe because he's too stupid to remember his talking points?
;<[)
Anyone who speaks out against the criminal Bush Regime, even and insider like Scotty who should know, will be smeared and swiftboated by FOXaganda.
Sure, Bill O never got talking points directly from the White House himself - they came to him through Fox management. Man, is that casuistry!
Oh, please. Does ANYONE actually believe O'Reilly is telling the truth here? Of course he received (and continues to receive) official GOP talking points.
I mean, unless he's claiming to be a fucking clairvoyant, I don't know how he explains the fact that he talks about the things the GOP wants to talk about on any given day, and always frames them just the same way as every other right-wing talk radio stooge.
John Q. @ 6:
You're right. The whitehouse gave them to Rupert Murdoch. Rupert gave them to O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh etc.
Gosh Bill it's not like you've ever lied before say about Nazi war crimes, or homeless vets, or being part of a military unit...etc.
I saw Scott McLellan speak at The Book People here in Austin the day after he testified in Congress.
He came off as conscientious and thoughtful, and very concerned that he had been lied to, repeatedly, and repeatedly put in a position to repeat those lies.
When I had him sign my book, I mentioned that it "wasn't quite the Pentagon Papers, but..." and he actually looked a little guilty.
How DARE that nasty little man O'Reilly make such accusations!
Media Matters - White House soiree: Boortz, Hannity, Gallagher, Medved and Ingraham were reportedly invited to meet with Bush in the Oval Office
Here's a NYT article with a picture of Bushie himself giving talking points to the professional provocateurs of right wing radio. Included in the picture is Sean Hannity of Faux. O'Reilly is upset only because he didn't get invited.
More likely, the talking points flow through Faux Snooze on the way to the White House. That is a more efficient way to catapult the propaganda
I think O'Reilly is about ready to self-implode. The logic is getting less and less identifiable. I call him slipping on his live radio or tv show with the "N" word about Obama by October at the latest.
I can't believe I've lived long enough to watch bullies that foam at the mouth working on TV. What a piece of crap O'Reilly is, I'd be happy to say a lot of things to that man's face!!!!! I'd probably need to be disinfected afterward but it would be worth it.
his writers got the talking points.....like i would ever trust
this clown about anything
Leave it to O'Reilly to be offended at the truth. It must be pretty hard for him to take, having built a career on lies and all.
Billy, me boy o. Wait until some of the other shit he isn't admitting now comes out. Thanx for the lunatic entertainment. Jeez why don't you just start blaming autistic kids?
"McClellan would never dare say that to my face."
Spoken like a true punkass bitch bully.
I could care less about O'Pervert. I want Faux news held accountable for propaganda, that's all.
Oliver Dreams @ 8:
Exactly. Bill O's splitting falafels.
This video is yesterday's news. Today McClellan apologized to O'Reilly and admits he misspoke about the White House giving him the talking points. This video is priceless. O'Reilly reduces Scotty to the sniveling, groveling, little backstabbing patsy that he is.
"I'm sorry, Bill. I was wrong to say that."
Ace @ 20:
it's true, we could sue murdoch and potentially win.
god willing, mr. deng will find himself tarred n' feathered in town square...
Atlanta Journal Constitution: An evening with Ann… and Lynn
“I never once received a talking point from the White House, so McClellan is not telling the truth about me!”
Right.
This comes from the guy whose major show segment is called "TALKING POINTS MEMO"
We believe you, Billo...we believe you.
These guys and girls all have a exaggerated sense of importance and big mouths. They can't help themselves.
Fox News Alert @ 12:
I remember Hannity talking about it at the time. All puffed up and filled with patriotism about it. What a tool. I also remember that while it didn't surprise they were invited, (the Repugs were desperate that election) what did surprise me was how openly they were spewing it across the air waves.
dennis @ 22:
McClellan hasn't got a backbone. I expect he backed down because he didn't recall personally handing O'Reilly his talking points.
Of course O'Reilly gets official GOP talking points. They may wind their way past a few Fox News executives' desks, but O'Reilly certainly acts as a PA system for the GOP. I mean, c'mon. It's obvious.
dennis @ 22:
Cheney smacked him around today. Or else threatened to.
dennis @ 22:
So he’s a little backstabbing patsy if he comes out with the truth?
So you do believe in honor among thieves!
Of course he attacked McClellan. Truth is to O'Reilly like light is to vampires. He has to do all in his power to shut out all truth lest he be rendered into his native dust.
Where is God or Karma or Poetic Justice when you need them? We need some serious Justice! And not Bush League Justice. Where the Hell is Superman or Batman? I'll take any Superhero at this point!
Just like the movie, "Michael Clayton." The truth is a cancer. And the cancer must be eradicated.
First, the agenda that's pushed on Fox News and by the GOP and many of the major corporations comes from someplace higher. So O'Reilly is half right here when he says that it's false that Cheney or W tell him what to say. The CFR tells W and Cheney what to say. And Rupert tells O'Reilly what his agenda will be along with all the other paid goons working for the Murdoch cartel. It's all one connected machine that most dim witted Amurikans can't see through their brainwashed goggles. Seriously, does anyone think W comes up with any of these talking points. If you don't believe me then go look up the members of the CFR and the associated member corporations. What do you think this group is doing, bible study? Hahahahaha!
You think it's a coincidence that John McCain, the energy companies, and all the rest in the GOP came up with the "drill for oil now" bullshit and are conducting a non-stop campaign of propaganda to shove it up our asses? This is an organized agenda pushed from behind the scenes in an attempt to make drilling for oil OUR interest. Drilling for oil isn't going to bring down the price of oil or help us in any way. That's the job of the oil traders. And they will drive up the price or drive down the price based upon what they're told to do as well.
Oh, and since Obama and McCain are both members of the CFR, look for zero improvement in the status of anything in this country...ever.
dennis @ 22:
Too funny. You know he's arguing on semantics. His boss got them and gave them to him. Or his staff got them and gave them to him.
"My reputation is being besmearched. They are playing you, they are using you." O'Reilly is a freak show. Oh my god!!!!!
John: Your premise makes no sense.
First you tell us McLellan specifically mentioned O'Reilly (and others). Then you claim that, because he was also talking in general terms about Fox News, the specific mention of O'Reilly somehow didn't count.
And what you left out was that McLellan subsequently came on O'Reilly's radio show and said "the truth is that I messed up. I was specifically not trying to single anyone out, including you."
John, McLellan was man enough to admit that he messed up by implicating O'Reilly. I hope you're man enough to admit, as McLellan inherently did, that O'Reilly had a point.
In other news: OMG. Rep. Steve King (R) is on C-Span saying oil rigs are good for the environment because they are the best place to fish. The fish congregate under the shade of the oil rigs. Seriously. You can't make shit like this up.
That's McClellan, of course. Sorry for the misspelling
Again, we are diverting our attention from the *real* issues. I just finished watching Bill Moyers' show from last Friday on torture and the complete discombobulation of our elected officials and our media, in presenting to us matters that affect our daily lives. I was entertained, if briefly, by the vapid ruminations of a commentator that reads his own material, without once losing sight of the fact that rich politicians are protecting their rich bretheren in business, in order to continue the racket.
I really enjoyed Fritz Hollings' interview, especially the little ditty (not mentioned during the show) about him telling Sam Donaldson that his suit can be altered down the street, as can his wig...
Where is our country headed ? During the interview, Fritz mentioned Henry Ford paying his employees enough so that they could actually afford the products they were all manufacturing. Is that the case now ? Take the service sector, like those employed by Wal-Mart, where can they shop ? What can they afford ? The idea that anything new is presented or broken by the likes of o'reilly or hannity is completely laughable. I've given tv up and get everything through this medium, and others such as commondreams.org, alternet.org, motherjones.com, and many others.
I truly believe that our consumption has been central to our current dilemma, but it may also rest at the center of our solution too. What if we made a point of buying less goods from overseas (shouldn't government impose tarrifs to protect the same goods made here, in order to avoid having those workers being exploited in China and seeing our own workers penalized because they cannot work for 50 cents a day without healthcare subsidized by the state ? There are so many angles to play here, but for those tempted to criticize me with the same old cliches of the free market, explain to me why the government should be bailing Freddie and Fannie, when they spent about $200 Million lobbying our congress to get the sweetheart deals they've enjoyed, all the way up to their recent bailout ? Why shouldn't their negligence be rewarded with failure, as our own entrepreneurial ventures would be, if we chose poorly ?), and decided to purchase our stuff here, but of higher quality ? Oh right, state and local governments are now about tax breaks for companies that build temporary plants (paying ZERO taxes), in order to shop the next one simultaneously, whilst abusing of their workforce, ignoring their needs or humanity...
The system we currently have is corrupt, crumbling, and benefiting solely those who see in red or black. Can our happiness be salvaged ? How many cars do you need ? Does everyone need to have a new suit every week or month ? How does shopping really convince you that happiness is a mastercard receipt and a new article of something ? Do you care about the trail of devastation that this item has created as it traced its way from the raw materials to your home ? Where is our media ? It's inane questions like "how do you feel" that get us nowhere, especially when it's people making millions a year feeding us this garbage on a daily basis.
I know we are singularly responsible for our wealth and happiness, but doesn't it also help to have an army of lobbyists fighting for your cause of increasing late fees and interest rates past 30% on 30-day late payment balances ? The individual contribution of $10 to Barack will pile into the gigantic war chest, but will your issue ever come to be championed by him on the floor of the senate or in the halls of the white house ?
I just wish greed wasn't the only pace setting parameter that we used to measure our success. What about not dumping plastics in the ocean ? Innovation is moot, when you have a country that is (I hope not !) willing to accept its governing class re-classifying torture as enhanced interrogation, because some lawyer coaxed the term in jargon designed to muddle the principle. In having read about innocent people being tortured during the terrible regimes of many south and latin american despots, it's important that we inform ourselves of their experiences and remember that terror is not a war, it's a manifestation of countless grievances. Therefore, those images of Abu Ghraib did nothing by fan the fire of grief in the hearts of many Muslims. In addition, our response was deplorable... a few bad apples ? Are you kidding me ?
I hope we stop this maddness, because my decency is offended. It's very telling that the JAG officers wouldn't touch this, along with the FBI. It also helps that many called it Criminal, in addition to it being a possible war crime.
I want to live in a peaceful society. Chalmers Johnson talked of blowback, I want to uncover our terrible secrets and apologize for the evil that we've helped spawn and also been responsible for enacting. Most importantly, I just want our future generations to learn from the wicked deeds that this administration continues to perpetuate, in the name of empty principles that they've maybe never understood. My country is better than this and also, as a people, we cannot stand for this evil to be carried out in our name.
If we start with enhanced, but then fail to gather sufficient evidence, where does that take us ?
Good night.
k
no doubt about it, Bill's not only a genius, but a genius with INTEGRITY. Just like the Chimp.
Ruthless People @ 36:
ah. well. He's the one who said there are too many mosques in this country.
dennis @ 22:
kind of.........maybe.....sniveling...not so much
Charles @ 33:
Sean Hannity "came up" with his Take Back America and Drill Here, Drill Now mantra a month or two ago. It was meant to look like an innocuous, populist movement when we all know where it came from.
we still talking about that insignificant tv guy.... might as well waste our time debating ---->
Vern Tessio: You think Mighty Mouse could beat up Superman?
Teddy Duchamp: What are you cracked?
Vern Tessio: Why not?! I saw the other day he was carrying five elephants in one hand.
Teddy Duchamp: Boy you don't know nothing. Mighty Mouse is a cartoon. Superman is a real guy. No way a cartoon could beat up a real guy.
Vern Tessio: Yeah, maybe you're right. Would be a good fight, 'though.
dennis @ 22:
Now if only Bush and Cheney would apologize for lying the nation into war, busting our budget and getting hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and 4500 American soldiers killed on a lie. Not holding my breath on that one though.
Ruthless People @ 36:
Yes, Steve King, super genius. Those huge globs of tar make great artificial coral reefs for the mutant sea life.
Taleb is right.
crazylikeafox...It's so sad that most people can't make this basic connection.
Ruthless People @ 36:
He's one of those freak show Congressmen you really, really want to slap when he opens his mouth.
Ruthless People @ 36:
Look on the bright side. You won't need any oil when you fry em up. Never mind the chemical taste. It's Good For You!
Better living through chemicals!
by distorting reality in the manner they do, fox news makes americans look weak and stupid.
My dream is to go on the O"Criely show. When he starts giving me a hard time, TKO.
C'mon Bill you LOVE it when the issue is about YOU.
Just look at how blissed out you are in this piece, reporting about YOU.
You're like some slob that pees in the pool and sits in it enjoying the warmth of the moment, and just as repulsive.
It's not a matter of greed at the top or that WE are over-consuming or that WE are racking up our credit cards. Who is running this planet and what is their agenda? It's not greed, but greed is used as a tool to get people to sell out and follow this agenda. The problems with our culture are all fabricated. The people who run this planet are set on one goal. That is the total control of all commodities on this Earth. Including the biological commodities. You are nothing, but a resource to these freaks. They believe they have the right to conduct experiments on us. Use soft and hard power against us. Market to us non-stop. And come up with a system of currency that cannot grow our economies without the formation of debt. The people who run this planet hate us. They are amoral. Me master, you slave. It's plain and simple.
Billdo would never shill for the repukes- he says he's a registered independent. At least that's what he claimed until Al Franken called him on his voter registration in "Lying Liars". And Billdo told him to "SHUT UP".
O'Reilly is much top arrogant and egotistical to follow anybody's talking points. Billo has his own point of view and he expresses it on a daily basis like the self important jackass he is.
Yes, oil is great for the economy, your planet, and you. It's not a toxic substance, especially when refined into gasoline.
"You love oil. We love oil. Drill for oil. Oil rigs are good. Drilling for oil is good. You love oil. We love oil. Get the oil. Oil good for planet. Oil good for economy. Oil good for security. Oil make you safe. Oil keep family safe. Drill for oil. You love oil. Use all the oil. Drill for more oil. Oil good for planet. Oil safe for planet. Oil good for you."
mudshark @ 49:
Hey Steve....If people who live next door to Nuclear reactors are able to grow really bitchin' seventy-five pound glow-in-the-dark tomatoes, does that mean that those are good for you too?
Jeff...Only if THEY tell us it's good for us. Then we'll believe it. Because, after all, we're lead by such intelligent, caring, Christian folk, who are just looking out for our best interests.
Charles @ 53:
Charles is right.
Did you hear Scotty apologize to Bill. He lied in his book as well, for THE MONEY. He wrote stuff that he knew Liberals would love and he made a fortune off of it. Bill made him look like a fool today on his radio show and replayed on TV tonight. You guy's are saying that Scott told the truth, yet he apologized to Bill for what he said.
Charles @ 58:
yes. Christian.
rb @ 60:
lied? citation please.
rb @ 60:
"he made a fortune" where did you hear and/or read that?
David Hill @ 1:
uh..are you calling for DOCTOR FRIST? THE ONE WHO OWNS HOSPITAL CORPORATION OF AMERICA? Who had to pay the largest fine ever levied in American corporate history--for Medicare Fraud? Which the New York Times never mentioned in two articles about him in 2006 & 2007? is THAT the Frist you're calling?
Let's face it...O'Reilly, Hannity, Malkin, Limbaugh, Coulter, Brokaw, and all these other over-paid henchmen are sell outs. Their entire professions revolve around marketing campaigns to get us to believe lie after lie after fairy tale. They are nothing but PR shit heads for global elitists. Except Brokaw. He IS a global elitist. They have sold the human race into the abyss.
Again folks, WHO CARES what that FATHEAD thinks? HE IS A ZERO.
Got Pompous, Billo?
Charles @ 65:
Reilly? I'm willing to bet that only Brokaw believes that he's a global elitist. The global elitists know better.
constituent @ 63:
"What Happened reached the number-one position on the sales chart of Amazon.com".
I'd say if you accomplish this, you probably made a little cash.
Yes, and the "blowhard" Billo wants us to believe that he's not in on the agenda. What a joke? The guy is in lock step (or should I say goose step) with the latest and greatest GOP talking points (or should I call them the Murdoch points). Which just happen to be the exact same talking points, and using the exact same sound bites, that the White House and ExxonMobil is spouting concurrently. And they want us to believe it's all just a coincidence. The White House didn't call you Billo and have you run this story. You both have the same boss(es). You both get the same marketing memos. And you act!!! Hahahahaha!
UPDATE: John Amato: O’Reilly seems to think everything revolves around him. Scotty was talking about FOX News and not O’Reilly specifically. GOP talking points run through FOX like blood runs through our veins. BillO can throw all the temper tantrums he wants. It’s just fact. And Bill doesn’t need White House talking points anyway.
Actually, Christ Mathhews said were briefings given to 'Bill, Sean,' and Scott said YES, and that is what Gestapo Billdo is miffed about.
crazylikeafox...Yes, I really agree with you there. He's just a paid bitch, but he's a Director of the CFR. That's why I threw that in. Brokaw is just part of the media arm of the CFR. Running around saying things like, "well, trustworthy and respectable men also believed Saddam had WMD's."
Ah, ah, ah...bull shit!
I, for one, would *love* to see someone invited on the show to tell BillOLies he's an idiot to his face--someone like, oh, Rosie Grier.
Scott McClellan, still unrefuted.
The fact is that the invasion of Iraq was planned for years in advance. They just arbitrarily thought everyone would believe any reason they gave to invade Iraq. Especially when the "poison gas peddler" himself (Donald "the murderer" Rumsfeld) sold Saddam the poison gas in the 80's that Saddam used to kill the Kurds.
So I guess, in some indirect way, we killed the Kurds. And the Shias, and Sunnis, and are stealing their oil (legally, of course).
moniker @ 74:
But he lied about Bill, and Bill got an apology for it today.
rb @ 60:
Let me guess...McClellend's actual statement was something along the lines of; "I'm sorry if Bill O'Reilly thinks that what I said was untrue, but the truth is Fox Commentators would never admit that they got talking points from the White House."
Bill-O's crack production staff edited the comment down to read;"I'm sorry...(snip)...Bill...(snip)...what I said was untrue...(snip)...Fox Commentators...(snip)...never...(snip)...got talking points from the White House."
The FAUX motto: Whenever facts don't support your opinions, just make up new ones to fit.
Charles @ 72:
Have you ever seen him when he turns up in his pink or baby blue ascot?
jeff @ 77:
Not at all. I heard the whole thing and Scotty sounded like a kid who got caught stealing
crazylikeafox...Nope. I try not to watch him or pay attention to him. It's like watching Faux Noise. I only watch every once in a while to find out what they WANT me to think.
scott would dare to say that to billo's face,
but which one should he chose?
the one that LIES or the one that LIES?
Ari Fleischer, Scott McClellan, Tony Snow, and Dana Perino are (were (in more ways than one)) paid liars. None of these people have any credibility with me.
Ace @ 20:
I could care less about the guy as well, but both our government and Fox should be held accountable for perpetrating propaganda upon the American public.
oncall...Yes, but who's going to hold them accountable?
rb @ 60:
you mean like Dick Cheney lied and Haliburton made a fortune, right??
or do you mean like George Bush and his Crime family lied to justify their aggression
(hey! "Aggression" it's a WAR CRIME) and got us into an illegal war?
Bill O makes nobody look like a fool EXCEPT FOR HIMSELF.
oh, wait: he makes people who believe his bullshit look like fools as well!
people just like.. you, silly old rb@60!
Bill never received the memos from the White House because Bill doesn't write his show. He's an over rated prompter reader. So he can say what he said but to call McClellan a liar is in itself a lie. He knows damn well where his marching orders and top stories came from for the last 8 years.
The funny part is that he plays the CNN clip saying he will only make this about himself. The falafel-ator isn't bright enough to realize that is what he just did. Proving the CNN clip 100% true.
Note the parsing: I never once received a talking point from the White House
If he got them from the RNC or Roger Ailes, it is still a true statement.
