The McCain campaign has apparently decided to spread the notion among Evangelicals that Barack Obama is the Antichrist.

This is typical for the McCain campaign. Dog-whistle politics is a common tactic by Rove and Lee Atwater. It's in play now right before your eyes and this time it's targeted at evangelicals.

People are so freaking stupid... there is no antichrist. In the Bible there is no reference to a singular "antichrist" and it's never referenced as a proper noun (capitalized). The term "antichrist" was in reference to Jews who opposed the Christians and it was delievered as an insult against Jews. The mix-up is the association of the great Beast that rises up and somehow, someway some idiot (I blame Hal Lindsey) created some casual link that made the Beast = antichrist = Antichrist. The Bible makes no such reference.
If people would actually read the Bible instead of relying upon the Hal Lindseys, Jack Van Imps, Hagees and Pat Robertsons of the world, they'll may actually learn something.
And my parents wonder why I don't call myself a Christians... with Christians like these, who needs it?

Obama has to walk a fine line. He can't be seen as beating up on the old guy because if he does, he will be accused of using the age card. The electorate has an average reading level of a 7th grader, and an attention span just as short. You are dealing with 11 year olds, and the GOP is talking to them as if they are 11 year olds and it is working.
So, we need to do the same thing. Obama needs to run an anti corporation, anti establishment campaign...and run it HARD. He is only skirting on the fringes of it. He mentioned Exxon Mobil by name for the first time, last week.
Talk to hurting families and make them understand why they hurt and WHO created their problems. Talk to them about education...not just "reform" but WHY it is broken and WHO broke it. From his flip-flop waddling stsyle, like a seal on land, on would suspect that the answer would be no. He never led, and never will. Being a pilot is not a command position from where to lead anybody, just fly and drop bombs, careful not to destroy too many airplanes even when not on combat missions.
Where he supposedly gained experience 'to lead' remains a mistery no one seems to want to explore for fear of being accused of not respecting McCain's 'war hero' appellation. I still ask, what has he done that would truly be heroic?
