The Robotic Chair (1984 - 2006) is a generic-looking wooden chair with the capacity to fall apart and put itself back together. With shuddering force the chair collapses to the floor then with persistence and determination proceeds to seek out its parts and upright itself.  Found at the online art gallery VVork.

Joe Lieberman Lobbies to Become Vice Pope

so i'm switching my support to OBAMA / KAINE

like obama, he had nothing to do w/ iraq. like obama, he's not a beltway insider. and he'll help pull in the true evangelical network.

the transformation america's undergoing is best exemplified in virginia.

remember, virginia's where both george washington and thomas jefferson took residence.

biden's too volatile, bayh was a cheerleader.

I'm not all that thrilled with any of the three names to which widespread conjecture now suggests Obama has narrowed his VeeP shortlist. But man alive, I'd like to have the announcement already!

What disappoints me most, though, is that once the announcement is made, the media will be perpetually abuzz with idiotic babble from self-appointed experts about how the VeeP choice helps or hurts Obama politically. Very little time will be spent objectively reporting to the American people who this person actually is, and what s/he stands for.

I said it a year ago:

Obama/Bayh

and I stick with it now.

Remember the old "Tom and Huck", think about Obama and Bayh for a moment.

I was shocked when I watched the news today and saw that john mccain has come back even in the polls with barrack obama. I seriously hope that this is just a short term blip, otherwise there is not much hope for your country. I watched CNN today and saw Grandpa john talking about the american manifest destiny(iraq and georgia) on tv. I wish the man would just shut the hell up because the rest of the world is starting to get just a little pissed off.
Then there is your Secretary of mistake Condi-not-so-nice in poland signing the missle treaty.
You guys really think the Russians aren't gonna get pissed off?
I live in bear country in Northern BC and we let sleeping bears lie. You guys woke the bear(russia) up and kicked him in the nuts and think he's just gonna head off into the woods

Must be McCain's chair.

So .. a non-military use for robotics!

John McCain today:

“Lobbyists don’t come to my office. Because they know they’re not going to be an earmark. They know they’re not going to get a pork-barrel project.

While on one point he is correct, they no longer come to his office because he hasn't been there since April and is the most absent Senator. But on the broader point it is abundently clear that lobbyists flock to him as exemplified in his campaign staff:

"As a private lobbyist trying to influence lawmakers and Bush administration staffers, Scheunemann at times relied on his access to McCain in his work for foreign clients on Capitol Hill. He and his partner reported 71 phone conversations and meetings with McCain and his top advisers since 2004 on behalf of foreign clients, including Georgia, according to forms they filed with the Justice Department."

Wow, BG, that was mesmerizing. I've gotta get new furniture!

Oh, I've got a new "Honest McCain Campaign Poster" up at my blog.

Biden?

think of the possibilitys for the CIA's black ops people , rogue dictator sits down and his chair collapses, killing or seriously maiming them !
If somebody had given Saddam one of these, we could have saved one trillion US dollars and 4400 American lives, 1000 contractors, plus a million Iraqis.
This chair is worthy of a Nobel peace price if promoted properly.

This so called "missle shield" is due to be built in 2011, and a majority of Poles opposed it, the latest spin is that since the Georgia/Russia conflict they have changed their minds, which is likely not true with a majority of Poles, is my guess. In fact, I doubt most Poles trust the U.S..

I hope Obama can somehow negate whatever missile treaty the neocons are trying to install, hopefully those fucks will have every treaty the negotiated made null and void.

If GW1 is anything to go by, I would be worried if anybody set up a missile shield near me,
the MSM when they were reporting on and filming the Scuds and Patriot missiles flying in Israel during GW1,
showed one Patriot missile launching then arcing down into a built up area, then the moron MSM reporter goes "its a Scud going boom"
It was plain to anybody with a one eye and a brain what happened on the video footage.
I read somewhere that 200 people got killed by one Patriot missile that misfired during one launch.
They were new and unproven at the time, but goes to show you dont want sh1t like that deployed near people and homes.

I just watched "Recount." It's a grim reminder that we will not ever let it happen again. Make sure your vote counts.

Whats worse is that for years the lie was peddled that the Patriot's did very well, and were responsible for such low casualties of Scud attacks, when in reality it was all bullshit and their shoot down rate was in fact terrible. The truth was covered up and long after the war was over was this fact known. An ominous precursor of WMD.

And dont forget that McSame already bumbled in one of the primary debates he'd build a missile shield.

In Czechoslovakia.

Mike the Canuck @ 7, well said.

Condi is supposed to be the expert in all things Russian, isn't she ? I am truly starting to get scared by all of the reckless things that Bush, Condi and McCain are saying and doing to antagonize them.

Anything can happen at this point.

Net Neutrality is still to be cherished.

That's pretty cool.

Also, as with the damage Bush has done to the country, destroying the chair is much easier and quicker than repairing it.

I have dreams exactly like this.

Then I wake up and have nightmares about four more years.

When will America put itself back together?

Gosh! Why would they want to install an unproven missile defense system to defend against a not-yet-built missile threat?

I second the vote not to include Biden as V-P nominee. There's got to be better choices out there than to deal with this man. He's only a friend of those who are of the more conserative wing of the Dem party. And we can't let this part swing to the more rightest of the platform. We just can't.

I hope Mr. Obama can see the damage that the DLC and their ilk has done to the party and really embraces the change that he seeks.

As for the chair.....a perfect metaphor for not only the economy but for our failing status in the world.

An Open Letter to Caroline Kennedy (head of the Obama VP search team) from Michael Moore

For anyone interested in the understanding of foreign relations. Here's a story... Russia to cut all military ties with NATO

I smell a rat with just a few days before the democratic convention these people have tried every dame trick in the book to create a mess for democrats.

There will be well over a million people attending this event, who paid big money to attend and I doubt that just a few days before this event, that national polls would show McCain in any kind of lead and hold any truth.

They are trying their best to get Obama to go Hillary, for whatever reason but you can bet, not good for democrats. To the point they even show her leading McCain. What more can these people do to show folks what dame liars and tricks for this administration they are?

When are we going to learn how to not pay attention to all this spin and distortion of facts, ran by the very same idiots, that have miss lead us for eight years.

They have been on this Hillary dump sense she got her ass kicked and we can count on the fact that if Obama were to be stupid enough to select this evil woman, they would bring out all of her and her husbands garbage.

McCain may be picking up steam with the right wing gang, but they cannot account for the millions and millions of democratic voters all over this country.
Even they admitted to this truth just last week folks, how in the west hell can they now come up with such drastic turn around, by just throwing out polling data and then claim that young people are moving to McCain is taking the lies way too far.

Young folk don't have land lines for these bastards to determine what their preference are, but one thing we in the Obama camp know as fact is that they
are registering in record numbers with democrats and in most states it is more then two to one and we just got that number last week, yet now a few days before the converntion they all have prayed for rain, on, they come out with this McCain leading mess.

Is there anything these folks will not do to win?

So does everybody and their dog panic and install missile defense shields to defend every village town city and gov bunker all over every country !!!!!
Or does the world through the UN agree and sign a treaty to not do anything offensive and learn to live together peacefully...
Its an easy choice for intelligent people, and a far easier one for the MIC industries around the world (of each country) to scare everybody to buy their missile defense shields.
Profit before common sense.

Hillary Clinton makes a decent Senator from New York. I'll give her that, but she still voted us into this god awful war we are fighting for no reason at all. Not too smart as far as I can tell.

I'm for General Wesley Clark, Howard Dean, or Caroline Kennedy, or someone great I haven't thought of yet. Out of the three the media is saying Barack is considering I'd pick Kaine, because Biden and Bayh are too established in the messing up part of our Country. They suck in other words. Go Barack. need established politicians to really completely understand the change needed.

EPA hides information on pesticide implicated in colony collapse disorder - http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2008/8/19/16627/5040
So there's this insecticide called clothianidin that seems likely to be implicated in colony collapse disorder. By the EPA's own reckoning [PDF], clothianidin "has the potential for toxic chronic exposure to honeybees, as well as other nontarget pollinators, through the translocation of clothianidin residues in nectar and pollen." Over in Germany, the introduction of clothianidin coincided with a sudden bee die-off, so German authorities recently banned it. They reckoned that giving clothianidin a rest would provide researchers time to look deeper into it without further endangering bees. (France did the same thing with a related pesticide.)
Our own EPA must be preparing to do something similar, right? Well, no. That's not how our EPA works. Rather than banning clothianidin, EPA bureaucrats have busied themselves hiding information about clothianidin.

McCain benefits from less press coverage - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/johnmccain/258...
Republicans have complained because McCain has gotten less press coverage than Obama, but according to an article in a British newspaper, McCain benefits from less coverage because it “means that his errors are ignored.”
According to Talking Points Memo, McCain’s errors would ”for any other politician who didn’t have the benefit of years of friendship or acquaintance with many of the reporters covering him … be a major topic of debate in the campaign”. While occasional mistakes by Obama have “led to a media feeding frenzy”.
Republicans have often been let off the hook for their errors. In 1976, Gerald Ford said that Poland was not part of the Soviet bloc, and in 2000, George W Bush said that Pakistan’s General Musharraf was an elected leader (he actually came to power in a military coup).

Since 1990, the Clean Air Act has required permits granted to facilities releasing more than 100 tons of any pollutant a year to include enough monitoring to ensure the company is meeting its emissions targets.

Jack Cafferty: Is McCain another George W. Bush? - http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/18/cafferty.mccain/index.html
" It occurs to me that John McCain is as intellectually shallow as our current president. When asked what his Christian faith means to him, his answer was a one-liner. "It means I'm saved and forgiven." Great scholars have wrestled with the meaning of faith for centuries. McCain then retold a story we've all heard a hundred times about a guard in Vietnam drawing a cross in the sand.
Asked about his greatest moral failure, he cited his first marriage, which ended in divorce. While saying it was his greatest moral failing, he offered nothing in the way of explanation. Why not?"
He no longer allows reporters unfettered access to him aboard the "Straight Talk Express" for a reason. He simply makes too many mistakes. Unless he's reciting talking points or reading from notes or a TelePrompTer, John McCain is lost. He can drop bon mots at a bowling alley or diner -- short glib responses that get a chuckle, but beyond that McCain gets in over his head very quickly.
I am sick and tired of the president of the United States embarrassing me. The world we live in is too complex to entrust it to someone else whose idea of intellectual curiosity and grasp of foreign policy issues is to tell us he can look into Vladimir Putin's eyes and see into his soul."

Max Blumethal: Jerome Corsi's Long, Strange Racits, Ultra Right Wing Trip - http://www.thenation.com/doc/20080901/blumenthal
Corsi's success represents the apotheosis of a long, strange trip from the furthest shores of the right into the national spotlight. During George W. Bush's first term, Corsi was a little-known financial services marketing specialist. In 1995, according to the Boston Globe, he coaxed twenty people into a shadowy investment venture in Poland that ultimately lost them a total of $1.2 million. "It ruined my career in the brokerage business, and it was a sad story for a lot of people," said Bradley Amundson, one of those enlisted into Corsi's bungled scheme. The FBI opened an investigation but never filed any charges.
Corsi had dabbled off-and-on the fringes of conservative backlash politics for nearly three decades. In his spare time, which he appeared to have lots of, Corsi busied himself at his computer, firing off opinions on the far-right website Free Republic, marked by their sexual and racial obsessions.

Robert Scheer: McCain's warped worldview - http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/20080819_mccains_warped_worldview/
The lesson McCain should have learned is that the world is a complex place, that today’s enemies may be tomorrow’s negotiating partners—as Obama has at times dared to suggest—and that the neoconservative idea of a Pax Americana is a dangerous fantasy. And a costly one at that, not only in lost lives and blowback from the regions we destabilize, but also in the dollars that American taxpayers must waste.
Thanks to the absurdly misdirected war on terrorism that McCain so enthusiastically supports, we spend more annually in inflation-adjusted dollars on the military than at any time since World War II, even more than during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Vote for McCain and forget about funding to solve the Social Security, Medicare and subprime mortgage disasters or for anything else that truly would make America stronger.

It's Not Your Father's Tundra Anymore - http://www.desmogblog.com/its-not-your-fathers-tundra-anymore
Canadian researchers are using satellite photos to show how climate change is prompting vegetation from southern Canada to creep into the tundra, possibly threatening the northern ecosystem. Areas that were normally occupied by herbs, for example, are becoming occupied by shrubs. The tree line is migrating northward.

given that we have sat back and let the repigs steal the last two elections thiers no reason to believe this one wont be stolen again, piece of cake ! the news whores use polls that tell us mccains just one point behind obama , mccains audiences are held in a phone booth , but obama has large crowds, personaly kucinich was my pick , the only guy wjo wanted to revisit 911 and the only guy who wanted these bush criminals up on charges , as ive said before the elections in the bag , and i see martial law being in our future the day after this election rove strikes once again!

Tyree...I don't think this next election will be stolen...I am becoming more and more doubtful that we'll even have one.

THE ROBOT CHAIRS ARE COMING!!!

EVERYBODY DUCK AND COVER!!! NO... DUCK AND COVER UNDER A TABLE...

NOT THE CHAIR!!!!!!

AAAAAARGH!!!!!!

Is the vicious NATO attack on French troops revenge for the French brokered Russia-Georgia deal?

Anybody see this yet this morning? McCain can't quite remember how many houses he owns. He'll have the staff count them and get back to you...

Bush's signing statements

WHy they are Bogus and Bush should be impeached

http://www.buzzflash.net/story.php?id=65799

"The Bush Administration’s use of presidential signing statements to indicate disapproval of enacted legislation has generated confusion and has undermined congressional oversight of national defense policy, the House Armed Services Committee said in a report this week. One problem is that the Bush White House often fails to articulate the basis of its objections or their specific application in practice, the report said, terming White House objections 'broad and unsubstantiated.'"

Reasons that Bush should be impeached that is off the table orders corrupt Pelosi

well lib n mod anythings possible , but they will never have a better excuse to install martial law then after a stolen election and major insurrection of outraged voters, sure the majority of the democrats are sheep but were not talking gore or kerry supporters here were talking obama supporters who still remember katrina,

So...the broken chair is like all of us post-Bush administration; it's our country, our economy, progress in our society, the environment, the state of world peace. Will the dems win and see the chair pick itself up again?

im not sure anything will help obama in indiana, here we have electronic voteing machines with no paper trails, i asked the guy showing me how the new machines work, is thier anyway to show who i voted for i mean like a paper trail, he said no but you can check after you vote and press this here and it will tell you, great but you still cant get a recount like paper trails, folks here for the most part spend thier sundays in church , thiers one on every corner, its like opieum for the masses,

Ty- no offense, buddy, but Obama could pick Evan Bayh for his VP and Bayh's dad could come back from the grave to campaign for them both and it still wouldn't get the Hoosier state to go blue this year.

it is past time to get rid of this terriorist mentality, thier have been no more attacks besides the anthrax attack on america because this government hasnt need any more, its time to get rid of homeland security , fisa , the patriot act, the tax cuts for the rich, its time to withdraw from iraq ,from afganistan too, time to hold any politician accountable for furthering bushes agression in the mid east, that includes obama , we have no buisness to reinforce troops in afganistan and besides fisa the patriot act and obamas dumb idea of continuing and wideining the war there and acting like just another thug warmonger kissing israels tukas obamas lost anything thats worth respect, yeah mccains worse but by very little, if you cant controll him now your not going to change him when and if hes crapping in the whitehouse lavs, i want an honest man willing to clean up these fools in washington not just another fool who goes along with the crooks and warmongers,

yeah dennis i think i kind of made that clear except i didnt mention Bahy, the reason i didnt is BAYHS a goober , like all the three vp candidates mentioned by the news whores on cnn, like i said clintons obamas only hope for winning , still not sure it would affect indiana though,

or an honest woman ,

Ty-
A bit of trivia since they're both in the news right now, but Evan Bayh and Mark Spitz were both in the same fraternity at IU.

dennis id of been more impressed if theyd both been quarterbacks at reitz but its good to know!

Rense.com has reported ..
Israel had TWO bases in Georgia in the planning and they were BOMBED by Russia . CNN won't tell you THAT . It also gets 25% of it's oil that goes through Georgia and has arms deals and IDF in Georgia and CNN won't tell you THAT .

"In the main, Israeli military and intelligence units stationed in Georgia were mostly composed of Israel Defense Force reservists working for Global CST, owned by Maj. Gen. Israel Ziv, and Defense Shield, owned by Brig. Gen. Gal Hirsch. "The Israelis should be proud of themselves for the Israeli training and education received by the Georgian soldiers," Georgian Minister Temur Yakobashvili.

By this manner, Israel could claim that it had a very small number of IDF people in Georgia "mainly connected with our Embassy in Tiblisi." The Russians, however, were not fooled by this and their own intelligence had pinpointed Israeli surveillance bases and when they went after the Georgians who invaded South Ossetia, units of the Russian air force bombed the Israeli bases in central Georgia and in the area of the capital, Tbilisi. They also severely damaged the runways and service areas of the two Georgian airbases designed to launch Israeli sir force units in a sudden attack on Iran. "
