Hollywood Plans Movie if Palin Elected: ‘Four Shotgun Weddings and a Funeral’
Hey everyone DO SOMETHING: MSNBC is dropping Keith and Tweety from election and debate coverage
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/business/media/08msnbc.html?hp
There are various diaries and petitions going on over at dailykos.
Not sure if it has legs as a bumper sticker.....but the I think we can shorten McCain/Palin to simply McPain.......it covers most of what everyone needs to know......however, I am one of those who thinks it's already been decided and everything between now and November is just theater.........but McPain will make it fun to watch...

Gitmo is getting pounded right now by Ike. winds up to 120mph.
oh yeah, they're taking a beating right now. If they haven't been moved to a black site.
ek, mpls mn @ 3:
Frankly, I wish they would just get rid of Tweety, permanently. That guy is an absolute brain-dead android. His comments are mindboggllingly stupid. At least Keith will still be there to comment.
Of course, David Gregory is a tool.
Oy. David Gregory is horrible. I tried to stay with Biden's interview by Brokaw this morning, but ugh. That voice. I swear Brokaw's parodying himself, no? And the MSM continues to frame the questions using wingnut talking points. Wow, they really ARE wingnuts with this ticket, aren't they? The polls - another reason to stay in bed with the covers over your head. I keep reminding myself that the polls are woefully inaccurate, but still, any double-digit percentage of voters buying the McCain-Palin ticket as an improvement over Bush or a preference to Obama doesn't bode well for the future of my grandchildren. May the earth rest in peace, and God forgive us.
McPain! Bravo!
Palin requests talks with oil executives
Governor Sarah Palin has requested a conference call this week with the CEO's of the major oil companies playing a role in the potential development of Alaska's natural gas pipeline.
Well, here we go again folks. This nation is so over people can't even tell.
usa today poll has mccain up 50-46 among registered voters... 54-44 among likely voters.
this country is fucked. this is what happens when you have a third-rate education system.

Regarding this latest rightwing smear about Obama "admitting" he's a muslim in his interview with Stephanopolous...it's making the rounds of all the rw sites....

BTW, didja hear - Palin finally agrees to an interview.
Unfortunately, it's going to be with Charles Gibson who Glenn Greenwald observes correctly that "...when it comes to wretched passivity and sycophantic establishment worship, the former "Good Morning America" host -- whose career was built on oozing amiability and inoffensiveness -- is as good as it gets."
Expect a lovefest.
Question from the peanut gallery: I need to make sure I'm not allowing my librul bias to cloud my recollecting.
Facts (I think)
1. Republicans hate government, the less the better
2. Republicans believe that private industry can provide all services and goods more efficiently and a lower cost than government
3. Republicans believe that the free market will always correct all imbalances UNLESS government interferes by moving in and attempting to regulate it.
4. The Republican icon St Reagan is quoted as saying the most frightening words in the English language are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."
If my recollecting is correct could someone please explain this to me?
"The Bush administration's seizure of troubled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is potentially a $200 billion bet that it will help reverse a prolonged housing and credit crisis."
I've got to be missing something here or else we have completed out move to the Orwellian Universe and may the Creator have mercy on all our souls.

Well, at least in two more months we will know the prognosis: Terminal or treatable.
He needs to move his campaign to put the republican crime syndicate on the defensive NOW!!!!
I agree and have been waiting, patiently, for weeks for this to happen. But I'm beginning to see that it just won't. Both Biden (who has already promised not to "attack" Palin at the VP debate) and Obama honestly, but misguidedly, believe that attacks are counter-productive. This has been clearly disproven over the last 8 years.
Chicken "Hussein" Little - Not! @ 17:
Nope, you're not missing anything. I would love to hear Larry Kudlow answer your question.
In addition to comment #1... Background on Interview at RNC...
Dr. Kissinger grinned at mention of the New World Order before dismissing any knowledge of National Security Memo #200, which calls for the use of “food as a weapon” and otherwise advocates depopulation schemes that include extreme measures to be used against the ‘lesser developed countries’ in the third world, whose population growth supposedly threatens the National Security interests of the United States.
Kissinger penned the memo in 1974 while serving in the Ford Administration.
Citizen Journalist Joby Weeks also asked the former National Security Adviser if he believed AIDS could be a manufactured threat tied to depopulation schemes, to which Kissinger said he ‘had no idea’ before absurdly claiming he had “never heard of” NSSM 200. When he was reminded that he wrote the memo, he blurted out “Oh, come on!,”
ben @ 10:
None of this would have happened if Obama had picked Hillary for VP. Still most polls are worthless snapshots in time.
Told you guys all tabloid talk about Palin would backfire...McCain is up by 4, 3, etc...in the new polls. I read he is up by 10 with likely voters. Dems all find ways to lose...

Chicken "Hussein" Little - Not! @ 17:
It all depends.
If business is making $$$ hand over fist then the government should stay out, respect the "Free Market."
But if business is losing $$$ it would be detrimental to the common good to let those businesses suffer the consequences of the .. uh .. "Free Market" .. right?

Palin: the real scandal
Palin: the real scandal
By Leonard Doyle in Anchorage
Saturday, 6 September 2008
Seen from the air, Sarah Palin's state is an environmental wonderland. From Anchorage to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, there is a vast landscape of snow-capped peaks, fjords, crystal glaciers, coastal lagoons, wide river deltas and tundra.
[Deleted. In addition to Fair Use issues, bandwidth is expensive. You may not reprint lengthy text from your own works or those of others, including news articles. You may link to them-Sitemonitor]
Its not just wildlife conservationists who object. Many ordinary Alaskans also condemn the practice as barbaric.
Trish Rolfe, who runs the Sierra Club's Alaska office, thinks Governor Palin has been a disaster for Alaska's environment. "The idea that she stands up to the oil companies is a joke," she says.
"The governor pays lip service to the issue of global warming but denies it is man made. She will not even spend money to help the Inupiaq villages which are about to fall into the sea."
Funny that rightards forget the Democrats will make gains in Congress in November. McCain/Plain win the White House, Democrats will pick up seats in the House and Senate. Obama/Biden win the White House, they'll bring in a few more Democrats on their coattails.
Funny also that the rightards think that the election is over today, apparently. Then again, these folks really have no critical thinking skills.
Come back here on November 5 and tell us how well your guys did, eh?

The way I hear it, it wasn't a "gaffe" or a "slip of the tongue" either.
Given the context within which Obama said "You're absolutely right - John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith," it is clear he was referring to the false allegations that he was a Muslim.
To be sure, he should have said "my alleged Muslim faith." That's what he meant.
Stephanopoulos was either too stupid to understand, or was playing "gotcha."
theWalrus @ 23:
I live in Illinois and have seen little of either side in this campaign. Here the election is already over. However, it is obvious that the Democrats have remained true to form throughout the country (spineless). Sixty days is a long time, but unless the Democrats and Obama start to hit people over their heads about what is at stake, I am afraid that this small lead that McCain has opened up will get even bigger. The Democrats and Obama should use the fear angle just as effectively as the Republicans have. That fear should be focused on the domestic disaster that awaits us if another Republican Administration is in the White House. The Democrats and Obama have to be graphic. Will they do it? If they don't, we are all fucked.
MountainMan23 @ 28:
Hopefully it will be run better than the rest of the government run organizations, stote or federal. (DMV comes to mind) And while this all sounds like it's a good move to gain regulation wouldn't it have been better if they had KEPT the regulations they originally had and dropped during the bush admin that caused this whole freak out to begin with? Second, when they say the government is bailing out Fannie and Freddie do the average joes and schmoes out there realize it is the American TAXPAYERS who are doing the bailing and not the corporate masters who have loopholes to hide in?
Serfdom anyone?
The Debate schedule is supposedly set...
* September 26: Oxford, Mississippi - hosted by Jim Lehrer of PBS
* October 7: Nashville, Tennessee - hosted by NBC's Tom Brokaw
* October 15: Hempstead, New York - hosted by Bob Schieffer of CBS
* Vice presidential debate: October 2, St. Louis, Missouri - hosted by Gwen Ifill

Obama is overestimating the intelligence of the voters. The Joe Sixpack voter may not know what lobbyist is, but they can definitely wrap their head around the idea that the VP nominee was a member of an extremist, anti-US separatist group. If Obama/Biden don't start aiming for the balls, we're doomed.

They completely ignore the role the superpowers played throughout the years in affecting and fueling ME conflicts. When the British empire was in its last throws, it, along with the French empire carved up the ME into sections, forced state borders on a people who didn't ask to be divided and eventually handed control over to the United States.
Everyone on that stage is a real piece of work, a bunch of racist assholes, acting as if the United States is on a peace keeping mission in the ME to save the world. Who asked these racists to go to the ME and impose their own rules on other people? What right do they have to tell someone else what's better for them?
It all goes back to racist and arrogant thinking that the "White Man" knows best.

Oh, and don't feel so bad about the McCain boost, folks. If the guy was a guaranteed win, he wouldn't even pick Palin in the first place. When you think about it, Obama's already beaten a group of older white males and one white female who were predicted as being the ones most likely to succeed. So he's not stupid enough to get steamrolled like Kerry and Gore. If you notice the trend this year, the candidates with little substance are the ones who've gotten their butts kicked in the end. [And yes, that includes John "I'll say what's convenient after the fact" Edwards.]

More proof that the MSM is controlled by the GOP!
An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently at the United Nations General Assembly and made the world community smile.
A representative from the Palestinian delegation began:
"Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Moses. When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath!'
He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. An Israeli had stolen them."
The Israeli representative jumped up furiously and shouted, "What are you talking about? The Israelis weren't there then".
The Palestinian representative smiled and said, "'And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech".
theWalrus @ 13:
Okay. I'm going to post this again for the 3rd time today:
You can go to abcnews.com to see and listen the actual video of George Stephan. interview with Obama. As I wrote earlier today, when somenone else made the same stupid remark and a “slip”………..>>
Obama didn’t trip up - he was making a point about what others have said about “his muslim faith” when George interrupted him (for the 27th time) and tried to correct Obama’s comment before he had a chance to finish it. Ergo, to folks watching, George made it APPEAR that Obama slipped up and was referring to “his Muslim faith” thereby leaving the impression that Obama isn’t really a christian.
Please pay careful attention to the entire context as well as what is said.
This is how Obama gets in “trouble” - he actually THINKS before he speaks - which takes too much time for these sound-bite, biased morons posing as journalists.
They interrupt and interject their own thoughts about what Obama is about to say
(like they have freakin’ ESP??!!) and that becomes the focus until Obama can get it back on track to make his point.
Don't make me ahev to do this again!!! #:)

You guys can e-mail MSNBC all you want but we all know why Keith and Chris have been relieved of their spots at the debates. Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams, both repug tools, didn't like being made fools of by the honest reporting Keith and Chris were doing at the conventions. Why can't we have reporters from "both sides of the aisles?" But Tommy Crybaby Brokaw who thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread just can't stand it when Keith and Chris get better ratings than he does. God, I never thought I would say I miss Russert! And Brian Williams is another repug whore. So now we get "Howdy Doody" Gregory instead; Rove's buddy and dancing partner. Things are going from bad to worse people. Either we have everything horribly wrong and the repugs and their news whores have it all right and Palin/McCain will be great together; or the msm has all been bought off and these guys are too afraid to tell the truth about Palin/McCain/Bush/Cheney. Remember, Brokaw has already been hit once with Anthrax and he may be afraid of another hit.

very refreshing...
I was reading some of the comments at YouTube under those 'Obama gaffe' videos of, oh, about 15 seconds each... distressing... of course, many of those posters are/were willfully misunderstanding... I don't think George S. was playing 'gotcha' - I think he got lost in the complex sentence structure...
and here's my point: Obama needs coaching on making arguments almost like bullet-point... one after the other after the other in close logical progressions... otherwise people will drift from his intent and confusion will be the result.
If George S. got side-tracked, think how the less sophisticated consumer of info felt... this will be critical in the debates. Obama needs to have snappy, logical arguments and wrap them with a solid, memorable concluding 'meme'.
So, NBC caved to the threats of the McCain campaign as to appearing on their shows. ABC already did so. Why do you think they get the first interview with Palin. It's how they manipulate the media.
liberAL @ 73:
Email them too and threaten to write to their sponsors. Let them know that PBS and CSpan also broadcasts the debates and that since the Republicans have had Faux forever, we deserve some honesty to balance that act.
Love the "Rove dancing partner", Gregory had his card punched with Rove tickets.
This one's fun. Apperently John McCain is somewhat of a mavrick after all. Turns out he did publish the biggest earmarking polititions and shame them by putting them on a list.
WASILLA, ALASKA - For much of his long career in Washington, John McCain has been throwing darts at the special spending system known as earmarking, through which powerful members of Congress can deliver federal cash for pet projects back home with little or no public scrutiny. He's even gone so far as to publish "pork lists" detailing these financial favors.
Three times in recent years, McCain's catalogs of "objectionable" spending have included earmarks for this small Alaska town, requested by its mayor at the time -- Sarah Palin.

Americans need to learn to listen to complete - and sometimes complex - sentences.
The *Bumper Sticker Size Sound Bite* is not large enough to represent reality.
It barely a month until the election. Obama is losing ground. The Right is stepping up their criticism of the media and shaming them into backing down and flying their way. And its working beautifully. It may not be the best tack to take in the long term but it is the right one now and it will get them to the election.
Obama's message is not reaching people. Particularly independents. The economy is in the tank. Our foreign policy is circling the drain. Housing is in a melt down, the Right despite all logic, pushes even harder and farther their fascist, Theocratic agenda of extremes and did I mention?...Obama is losing ground.
By every measure, this election should be in the bag for the Dems, but it is not.
If Obama doesn't adapt and quickly with equal force, people will vote for 4 more years of Bush because ultimately, to them, nothing else matters if we are not safe. To them, Bush kept them safe. Read: we haven't been attacked again. It is a dangerously flawed and over-simplified reasoning that will none-the-less insure that along with caging, lying, smearing and stealing, McCain/Palin will be taking the oath of office.

btw, not all real estate in Canada is expensive. There are many fantastic places outside of the major cities where one can get a good deal when it comes to buying housing and/or property. The weather really isn't that bad, either.
hotmouth @ 88:
Somewhere, somehow & with lotsa cash and really fast we've got to unite with the original MoveOn (not the softies that run it now) and Kos and form our own 527 and get some hard hitting factual ads. Moosehunting plays well. Shooting baby bears & wolf cubs not so much. Incidentally, she sold the Alaska plane at a loss to aerial hunters who bypass customs to hunt trophies. Emotion, not debate is what moves people. I don't know how to form a 527 but that is something I want to find out. Hell, ask MoveOn to bring back their 527.

The U.S. Congress may inadvertently lay the foundations for war against Iran when it reconvenes in Washington this month.
Two essentially identical nonbinding resolutions call upon President Bush to “immediately and dramatically increase the economic, political and diplomatic pressure on Iran to verifiably suspend its nuclear enrichment activities.”
The House resolution has more than 200 cosponsors, including Minnesota Reps. Michele Bachmann, John Kline and Jim Ramstad. The Senate resolution has more than 30 cosponsors, including both Minnesota senators, Norm Coleman and Amy Klobuchar.
Palin will not submit to interviews because Palin has policies that are just like Bush's. These policies are killing the United States. McCain's people are tryibg to lie now to say her policies are dirrerent hence no interviews . Palin has to get her story straight. Just look at the state of the country today. Palin wants to continue in the same direction of Bush and McCain. There is no difference in the three of them. If anything Palin is worse since she is inexperienced just like Bush was inexperienced. That is why Bush was manipulated by Cheney and his people. McCain has caved in and Palin is too green.

Orangutan. @ 25:
Thanks for the info, Orangutan.
We are threatened here too.
Even in developed countries, like the USA, getting enough nutrition to prevent deficiencies takes more than what the Standard American Diet (SAD) provides. Pollution by toxins such as benzene and Pharmabiz drug therapies contribute to deficiencies.
Deficiency reduces regenerative capacity, bringing about degenerative disease conditions, reducing immune system function with all the other organ, bone and tissue systems, opening the body to damaging and potentially deadly infections that might otherwise be shrugged off.
How is the FDA helping us meet our nutritional optimum? They in fact work to keep us sick, seeking to "protect us" from grass roots US dietary supplement law (DSHEA) that binds their regulatory power. The FDA sends representatives to international CODEX ALIMENTARIUS meetings.
Pharmabiz wants to sell us drugs, and makes money off our disease and death. Nutrients block their profits, so the Pharma controlled reps of Germany and the USA, notably, seek to address these products from a toxicology risk standpoint. We will be kept "safe" by having our access to nutrient supplements limited to products containing paltry amounts, as if they were toxic substances.
Threat of trade sanctions provide the hammer to force nations to conform their laws to international CODEX standards.
Search for info and stay alert to Natural Solutions, a controlled opposition "Health Freedom" group that diverts the unsuspecting from important action by presenting other actions as the way to success, such as petitioning unelected FDA bureaucrats.
Joe: I know how you feel, but this isn't about them, but about us. We can't afford to be dragged down in their mess. If all else fails, we can still get a filibuster-proof Senate; so I'm not ready to give up just yet.

My first reaction to Olbermann and Tweety being pulled and replaced by David Gregory was, "Oy! At least they didn't bring in Noron."
And then I remembered that as an anchor, Gregory has all of the electricity of a plastic comb. The very qualities that make him a great member of the White House Press Corps are the exact opposite of what he needs to be a news anchor -- or commentator, for that matter.
If they want to have somebody with both true journalistic neutrality (as opposed to objectivity, which is impossible) and camera presence, then IMO, they should hire the guy with too much integrity to make it on Faux Noize: Eric Burns.
He may be centrist or center-right or even conservative, but as a flaming liberal, I don't know and that's exactly why, if they're going to shy away from commentators, then tehy should bring Burns in if he's available. I mean, as repugnant as Faux Noize is, I couldn't quit NewsWatch because, well, Burns knew how to put Cal Thomas in his place and make the hypercaffeinated Jim Pinkerton get to his point *and* let Gabler know when he strayed too far into pontificating.
If not Eric Burns, then geez, they really, really ought to go to Bob Costas. I mean, it's only one more day waaay in November, not two more weeks of the Olympics now.

Ron @ 95:
Actually, there has been a great deal of concern about the accuracy of phone polls and the inclusion of cell phones in the numbers. Pollsters have been responding to this criticism in recent weeks and the resulting numbers are still the same.
But more to the point, America's election year history demonstrates clearly that voters will not change parties in the midst of war. I believe it was the late, great Molly Ivan that used to say, "Rightly or wrongly, voters will dance with the ones that brung 'em."
Don't doubt for one single second that beginning tomorrow and until election day "war! - war! - war!" will be shouted as loud or even louder than "drill! - drill! - drill!" People want easy answers to very tough problems. And those are the ones in the voting both.
As much as it pains me, I will say Bush/Cheney/Palin/McCain are all right about everything. Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, Brokaw, Williams, Gregory, Scarborough, O'Reilly, et al have all got it right.
I am wrong in believing this country is worth fighting for. I am wrong in believing the people should elect their president, not the msm talking heads and not the politicians with their own agendas which are not in the best interest of the citizens of the U.S. I am wrong in believing it is not right that candidates for public office should be accountable for their beliefs and political agendas and answer my questions about their beliefs. I am wrong in believing that the American voters are well educated and will vote with their heads and not with their eyes shut. I am wrong to trust politicians to be honest with me and back their promises with action. I am wrong in trusting politicians to do what is right for me and my family. I am wrong to believe that some politicians are more honest than others. I am wrong that everything will turn out OK and the best man/woman will win this election. I am wrong and really naive when I cry as I type this.
What I do believe is that our world is crashing down around us and only the Democrats can save us! But the Democrats; Obama, Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, will not fight for us. They talk about what this administration has done to us in the past eight years but they don't seem to want to fight hard enough to change any of these wrongs. They continue to let Leiberman, McCain, who they profess are their good friends, shit all over us but they turn the other cheek. So be it. God Bless America as we knew it; but it is slipping away from us.

Obama doesn't care if people hang on to their guns and religion.
he wants to give them more than that. there's NO reason why people can't have more than that. there are people that try to say there is a clean division/separation of business/corporation and people. there isn't and most of us know that.
corporations can't have it both ways. they want loopholes and deregulation but then they send jobs overseas. they exploit the work force in second and third world countries. under the shield of global economy they seek a cheap workforce and NO regulation/concern for workers. NOW GM is asking for a loan.....they can't compete here. they had the electric car they could be in good shape. the middle class/public often catch the blame....the cost of healthcare....b.s. corporations are slaves to
shareholders who are never happy.
today i heard on fox brit hume saying Obama is against free trade
that's not what i heard he wants to tweak NAFTA after 12-15 yrs.
to look at the laborer /environment angle. lobbyists in washington
have too much power......obama knows it that's the change. if
people want to improve our lives in this country vote Obama/Biden

AGREED! Yes! But there you go being logical and factual. Elections are not about logic. They are about symbolism and feelings - gut instincts -, call them what you will. Admit it. Even the best of us who follow the facts and the flow of the news and the issues ultimately still has to trust our guts before pulling that lever. Even if our "guts" are better informed.

I don't watch tv much. I don't know George S. Maybe I am sorely mistaken. Maybe he did intend to trip up Obama by 'correcting' him - suggesting he meant to say 'Christian'. ok...
Of course, I should be supplying any good ideas directly to Obama's website. I'm sure his aides are already churning over methods of streamlining the message for less-savvy viewers.

And why should you continue to believe in polls conducted by corporate interests loving fascists? The polls will always be kept close no matter what because the corporations controlling the media outlets make money off selling advertising. If the race becomes a blowout, advertising revenues will tank as well. Never trust a poll or the person who is citing a poll in their article, unless that person or polling agency can provides answers to the following:
Poll Reading Tips
The National Council on Public Polls has a list of questions all journalists should ask before citing a poll. They are useful questions for a media-savvy public as well.
Who did the poll?
Who paid for the poll and why was it done?
How many people were interviewed for the survey?
How were those people chosen?
What area (nation, state, or region) or what group (teachers, lawyers, Democratic voters, etc.) were these people chosen from?
Are the results based on the answers of all the people interviewed?
Who should have been interviewed and was not?
When was the poll done?
How were the interviews conducted?
What about polls on the Internet? (There's no sample control on the Web.)
What is the sampling error for the poll results?
Who's on first? (The ordering of choices, especially candidates, can affect responses.)
What other kinds of factors can skew poll results? What questions were asked?
These questions are annotated at the National Council on Public Polls web site. You can also find an Ethics and Standards guide to polling at the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
Remember, you can often obtain the full poll from the polling institution.
It comes down to several things this election after reading all the discussion and commentary about how important this race is:
1) There's no way about it. No more Mr. Nice Guy. It's time for the Dems to fight in the trenches. Take up the gauntlet. Stop bringing fists to a gun fight. Do the Dem strategists ever wonder why the Republicans get their message off more effectively than they do? I love people who are ethical and moral like the next guy, but it's time to get down and dirty. I'm not saying illegal practices. But, to put up or shut up. Stop being so nice. Be prepared to deliver a can of whup-ass to every interview, debate, article, blog, press conference. Stop acting like the Republicans can walk right over us, because that's what they engineered the public to think about us. They've even corrupted the word liberal so much that we have to use progressive in its place.
2)They have their memes, we have to have ours. I've said this before, but we've got to equate lies and unpatriotic behavior to Sarah Palin.
We've got to push her to answer the questions about AIP as well as her other scandalous behavior. I'd be especially interested to have her answer how she could be a hypocrite when servicing a belief-system that has no tolerance of out of wedlock sex, by adults or teens. I'd also like to hear her stance on infidelity, since she's been an alleged "serial" transgressor. The more Gov. Hockey Mom gets attacked on her patriotism and her ability to lie in public (along with the the scandals looming over the service), then we can start to make some headway. We need to expose her for the wretch that she is.
This is beyond Troopergate and everyone knows it. She's a nutjob made good because a desperate choice.
3) No more walking on egg shells for McCain because he's a POW. Mention "Songbird". Investigate the films he made while in captivity. At least put it out there. Ask him why he hasn't published his military record? Ask him about his temper and his affairs. Especially inquire how does he expect a man to lead the country if he lets his explosive anger gets the best of him? Ask him about his racism (especially against Blacks and Asians [that is something I'd like to hear him address in full]).
Ultimately, there is a time and place for civility. I can understand why Obama does it. But if this is a chess game, it is time for King to be protected so he doesn't go into check-mate.
We can't lie down and play dead for two worthless charlatans who only know how to exploit the media for their own personal gain.
The Very Bitter Ceci Hussein @ 125:
Now That's what I'm talkin about!
Stop allowing the Right to get the last word in. Stand your ground. Don't get shouted down. Bullies respect authority. Show some authority! Dems have the high ground on all the issues. Now...hit 'em below the belt. Show them for the hypocrites they are. Call a pig a pig. Especially the one with lipstick. They will yell. They will shout. They will call us names.
Just shows that we're doin it right.
Amitola @ 64:
EXCELLENT!!
I'm just going to throw this out here and see what all of you have to offer. I've been thinking about this for awhile and would appreciate other viewpoints.
During this presidential campaign, much has been written and said concerning the issue of experience. But, can anyone really have the experience for the presidency without having been the President? In other words, as a man I'll have experience with a women but I'll never have experience as a woman — an important distinction. So maybe we need to shift the discussion away from the issue of experience to that thing experience should provide: insight.
How insightful are these two candidates? What has their personal experiences taught them and how do those experiences shape their viewpoints about and vision for America's future?
(btw: the candidates I'm talking about are Obama and McCain.)

I think it's like college. I didn't learn a whole lot that transferred directly to work, but I learned a lot of tools I could build on.
And being a foreign policy wonk I like Obama's understanding of other people and cultures. He'll be able to communicate with language that they relate to, he won't have to just threaten them like John McCains solution's solution to everything.
I also think he better understands the viewpoint of Americans from inner city to blue blood, not having lead the life of privilege.
Also one point I think everyone misses when comparing Obama and Palin. Obama is an expert on law. Wouldn't someone in the Whitehouse familiar with the tenets of the Constitution be new and refreshing?
interesting read about deceit..........you see in this election i believe
obama and his people see but need to get better at reacting to it.
there a few gems that will explain the strategy to some.

John McCain Debates Himself on Supporting Bush
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnb2IrsU1Cg
From the begining I tryied tell you that the CORPORATE CONTROLED MEDIA was out to install McCain in the White House come November. Obama would not play dirty like the REPUBLICAN Brain ROVE(TURD BLOSSOM). If you still think that the CCM is fair and balanced just remember what happened to Carter on his way for a debate against REAGAIN, and who stole his BREAF CASE, it was a REPORTER from the CCM, and he is still on the CCM news team. This is a story that is forgotten to be told by the DEMOCRATIC Party again and again. Then REMEMBER what happened to Al GORE, and the SUPREAM COURT. BUT it could have been different if just one SENATOR had the GUTS to back MAXCINE WALTERS that day. THERE again is a story that deserves to be REMEMBERED but it is forgotten. If the REPUBLICANS had this done it would be on the CCM news 24/7. Wake up DEMS.

I couldn't find any of the discusson over at dailykos, but I did shoot an email to various email addresses at MSNBC. I told them it was not acceptable and if they did not restore Keith at least, I would only watch their coverage long enough to identify the advertisers so I could contact them and let them know why I WOULD NOT be patronising their company or buying their products. I said that they could tell all their advertisers that they were losing my eyeballs. You have to hit them where they live.
I finished my email by stating that if it would make my point more clearly, I could take pen to paper, spend a half an hour writing this longhand and physically mailing it through the US Post.

A friend made an interesting point about Bristol Palin. She and Levi have shown a level of irresponsibility when it comes to sex — pregnancy. And now that they intend to get married, are they showing a new level of responsibility or are they just compounding the problem by erecting a facade of legal respectability? Judging by what I've observed I don't have high hopes for their future together.

Brilliant!
Why doesn't the Press recall John McCain giving the Vietnamese any information they wanted within 4 days of his being captured?
John McCain told of Troop movements etc... so that he could get a cushy number - he had a table - he had chairs - he made 30 propaganda recording for the Enemy!
Get it - he broke - he gave information - he betrayed US troops!
You want that for President? I Don't
Reasons to VOTE REPUBLICAN
http://www.imvotingrepublican.com/
What does McCain and Bush have in common? The same dishonest, lying, hypocritical Republican DNA!
The GOP was scarping the bottom of the bucket to by-pass dozens of well qualified Congressional leaders and GOP governers and then choose Palin. She was forced on Cain by Dobson, La Haye and the Religious Right because she is a Christian Woman and she will win over the Hillary PUMA's. Indeed, she has fired up the base, who would vote GOP at tthe demise of their own familes. However, Palin was not vetted well enough: The independents who have been looking her way, the females and some GOP will back off now the Newsweek and the Anchorage Paper have reported that Palin is indeed a member of the Assembly of God (Pentecoastal) denominatoin. The Republican Party now has a "Holy Ghost Filled", "unknown-tongue-talking", "shouting in the spirit", "laying on hands" Penteoastal as their VP choice.
No one mocks the Pentecoastals more than the Baptist and they are the ones who forced her on McCain. It was a ploy to win females voters, Palin is being used. It WILLl backfire because of Palin's radical, radical, anti social religious beliefs (which the GOP just adopted on abortion) and the fact she is too controversial: her 'bull-in-the-chine-shop' approach and her arrogant mentality are part of her demise in Alaska. She is embroiled in many questionable issues in Alaska and her popularity is dwindling daily. Palin's pentcoastal hair-doo and charisma will fade when the truth gets out regarding her extreme religious beliefs.
John McCain called Baptist Preacher Jerry Falwell, "The agent of intollerence"...and the Assembly of God Pentecoastal doctrines are FAR FAR MORE radical than those of Falwell. Even he mocked Pentecoastals and advised people "not to get involed with their religiousity of hype and emotion without substance or sound theologial principals"
Yep, McCain, Bush, Cheney and Palin are all just alike! Same DNA....same hypocrisy

Do you have any kids? I won't sacrifice my children's futures.
Reading through this site over the past few months, and myself included, you can definitely see the overall sense of outrage, apathy, and disgust at what has happened to our country.
I think the underlying problem is that we have blatant criminals in the White House, and noone has done a damn thing to hold them accountable. Democrats and Republicans in Congress are just as guilty as the Bush regime for being complicit in allowing these maniacs to go on without question.
So what do we do? Continue to just go on day after day, watching our economy go to shambles, paying $4 a gallon for gas, $7 a gallon for milk, watching CEO's get govt bailouts but my neighbors get foreclosed on and evicted...
I wonder what is going to be the "straw" that breaks the camel's back?
With the police actions at the recent conventions, it is quite clear that efforts are well passed the planning stages for Martial Law.
We are literally one major "incident" away from the rest of whatever freedoms we had being shit down the toilet. Not that we really have any freedoms left now, other than being allowed to go to work and continue being consumers....I mean thats what they told us to do after 9-11 right?
In the meantime they have been reading all of our emails, listening to all of our phonecalls, tracking all of our internet activity, taking away our Habeus Corpus, taking away our right to own land (eminent domain was overturn by the SCOTUS, odd how noone talks about it), and now arresting those who dared to speak out at the party conventions. Political dissent is now a crime in the United States, unless sanctioned by corporate media.
Amazing times we are living in.
As I sit here this morning with the TV on but volume muted, the big "news" apparently this morning, as shown on NBC, CNN/Headline is the giant comeback of Britney Spears (yawn...).
Now, normally I wouldn't give a flying f*ck, but the clips of her bouncing boobs are playing back-to-back with clips of Palin bopping around the stage at RNC.
Clearly, the MSM has found the filler to buy Palin some time to become more "vice-presidential"...

I'm sorry, perhaps I don't understand. Do you actually think people should do something (anything) to keep Tweety in front of the (any) camera? The man is disgusting and an embarrassment to the human race. I don't care what his politics are (and apart from total
psycho with a focus in deviant sexual observations) I can't meaningfully identify them.
That is one call I won't answer. One petition I would never sign.
I never watch Tweety -- except occasional clips that various blogs post to reinforce what a complete creep he is. His total disappearance would be a boon.
Maybe the best part of the VMA's -- British host Russell Brand refers to Bush as "that retarded cowboy fellow."
What's up with nationalising the two mortgage giants??? (Whatever their strange names are, Freddie and Fannie?)
They hold $5 trillion in mortgages, and the governemnt is bailing them out with $200 billion (for right now, anyway). They're run by private bankers, aren't they? That's really nationalising a lot of (private/free market) debt, isn't it?
(Canadian here)
I refuse to take the polls as gospel because I have never heard the issue addressed of land-lines vs. cell phones. Aren't polls conducted on land-lines? Most people have cell phones now.
The Democrats MUST step up or we're a bunch of goners... stop the endtimers before they try to stop time itself.
I hate this shit. I think everything is going backards.
