Awesome! Thanks!

Anthrax Case: Ivins' Colleague Says He Was Murdered

Insights Into the Question of Whether the Anthrax was Weaponized

Seeking Details, Lawmakers Cite Anthrax Doubts

By SCOTT SHANE and ERIC LICHTBLAU

WASHINGTON — A month after the F.B.I. declared that an Army scientist was the anthrax killer, leading members of Congress are demanding more information about the seven-year investigation, saying they do not think the bureau has proved its case.

Regarding the whole fake makeover of the Republicans to be the party of change and the use of a ultra conservative book banning, lying opportunist to make it stick - all you have to remember is this... You can put lipstick on a pig all you want, but its still a pig.

I want my red meat.

I am a liberal, and I want my red meat.

Recently Joe Biden said that if during their administration they found evidence that laws had been broken, they would investigate it.
I immediately thought "holy shit that is great. That will get angry people out to vote."

Within 24 hours, Biden took it back to a certain degree, hedging about looking to the future and so forthm
I could not believe it.

Is stating that if you uncover crimes you will punish them too radical a statement?
Please do not tell that to my local police station.

Meanwhile, the base on the right gets thrown a piece of red meat thrown to them that is so raw, that it will force a twelve-year-old impregnated by her father have their child.
That's not too radical for McCain to attach itself to.

I am beginning to become frustrated that the beliefs I hold to be dear are not being spoken aloud, like they have some sort of stigma.
Values like protecting the constitution, maintaining my privacy, excercising freedom of speech, having an open and accountable government- if upholding these rights our forefathers died for puts the democrats in the inconvenient position of prosecuting people in high positions of power, you best suck it up and take it.
It's a much smaller price than many families have had to pay to uphold our freedoms.

So please, Dems, throw some red meat to the left, simply by doing the right things.

You might accidentally win the Presidency.

Can someone tell me if the "Sunni Awakening" was brought about because these tribal sheiks were paid off not to attack US Forces?
And if so, is there a link?

Here's something to consider...

Another Dem TV-----

Perhaps there should be some emphasis on the disaffected Reagon & Moderate Republicans to consider Obama/Biden as a viable alternative...

Emphasis on where their current "Republican" party has been drastically altered to nothing they had originally signed up for (far-right religious take over)...

With ordinary Republicans telling their story and their beliefs to the general public...

How they made the change to vote for the Dems and inviting other Republicans to follow...

What do you think---got to go for now---will check later for any feedback----

Peace----

Your comment backs up John MacArthur's assertion in his new book You Can't Be President: The Outrageous Barriers to Democracy in America that only those who are rich and well connected to the corporate interests, such as Barack Obama and John McCain, have a chance of becoming president in this country.

Also, one wonders if the two major corporate candidates have any comments on this latest con game that has been hoisted upon America.

Here's something that needs to be much more widely known (I got the links from firedoglake):

While Palin was mayor, the Wasilla police department charged rape victims for the rape evidence kits (hundreds of dollars). When the then-governor of Alaska signed a bill to prohibit this practice, the Wasilla police chief complained.

http://www.frontiersman.com/articles/2000/05/23/news.txt

This was, of course, while Palin was building extravagant sports complexes on the way to a 20 million dollar debt. During this time, the Wasilla police department was playing with night vision goggles costing an estimated $10,000 to $20,000, according to this article:

http://www.nlectc.org/txtfiles/tbwinter2001.html

The same police chief who complained that Wasilla could no longer charge victims for rape evidence kits is bragging in this article about all the cool things the thermal imaging technology allows him to do: break up kids parties at night, crack down on street racing, track moose,... (Though admittedly the chief admits that he wouldn't have been able to afford the technology were it not provided by the manufacturer in order to test it in low temperatures.)

http://www.grizzlybay.org/SarahPalinInfoPage.htm

I challenge you to watch the video re: aerial wolf hunting that Palin supports and promotes [warning: graphic material]. Tells you something about the character of Sarah Palin, Conservative Pro Life Blood Sport Hunter.

There are some perfectly good attack dogs waiting in the wings. Cry Havoc and unleash the dogs of politics. Let Obama take the high road and sic some Clinton on those smarmy turds.

For instance:
(PolitickerPA) Rendell: McCain, GOP 'lying' about Obama's tax plan

Gov. Ed Rendell Monday blasted the GOP and Republican presidential nominee John McCain for what he says is their "dishonorable" attempt to mislead the American public about Barack Obama's tax plan.

"The entire Republican National Convention, virtually every speaker lied about Senator Obama's tax plan," said Rendell, speaking on a conference call to reporters. "Their TV ads continue to lie.

"It's the big lie strategy," he continued. "Say if often enough and it will stick."..

(NY Times) Rendell: ‘The Big Lie Strategy’

Politicians rarely accuse each other of lying, preferring euphemisms instead. Mr. Rendell’s unusually blunt language is a sign of the anger that Democrats are feeling as they watch the McCain camp distort Mr. Obama’s proposals ..

Mr. Rendell repeated his accusation several times. ..

And the Obama Campaign calls them out for lying too:

Obama's New Ad: “No Maverick”

"Politicians LYING about their record?"
"You don't call that 'mavericks' .."
"You call that 'more of the same' .."

I asked a question in a previous comments section and it happened to be the last post accepted. But it was a legitimate question to the community.. I see the "Palin bounce" and am starting to get concerned. Here was my post:

Republicans are winners… at all costs… economy be damned, peace be damned, civil rights be damned, etc. The only thing that matters is that they are on the winning side. The narrative doesn’t matter. The policies don’t matter. The truth doesn’t matter. All that matters is they are right and they are winners. Period. And that is what they do… they win. And to those of us that are thinkers… we look at them and say “you people are stupid - you are voting against your own interests!” And they look back at us and say, “I only know two things in this world, Jesus is my savior, and I am on the winning side.” And the “Powers that Be” feed off of this ignorance, encourage the blind faith of Jesus to appease, hamper the ability and willingness of this crowd to educate themselves and break free, and funnel enough $$’s and confusion through media outlets to eek out a victory. And the Republicans cheer and wag their flags and say “we won! we won! we are the winners… you are the losers!” …. and they are right.
And then we thinkers - we whine and we stress as we see our civilization be plundered. And we think of how we are watching our children’s future be stolen from them as well as our own. And on the Republican side there are two large groups - one group believes that we are near the “end days” and as they are pressed deeper and deeper into War and Slavery, they have a convenient one liner to comfort their feeble minds. The other group is hanging onto a myth… the myth of the free market… the grand experiment… hell, we won WWI and WWII and defeated those Commies… we have to be right… the free market will prevail…. but this failing mythology is crippling us all… and their answer is that it is those damn liberals that are shackling progress with their wild, and dangerous, ideas.
How do we get out of this silly cycle… how?

That video of the RNC was hilarious!!!! If you didn't you should also check out the DNC, Sarah Palin, and Fred Thompson vids - I was laughing so hard I was crying.!!!

And, on the RNC vid, that introduction with Laura - does she not look like Heath Ledger as the Joker????!!!!!

My friends, I've fought fought fought fought fought I'mmmmmm going to fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight God bless America.

What I'm getting from Obama/Biden's message is their basic policy and also the inconsistencies of the GOP which is very good...

But it appears generalized...

I believe the Dems have a very good chance but they need to target their audience more specifically...

I posted several times today the FACT that some people say MCCAIN MAY BE A MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. Some of you might think I'm being a smartass. I'm deadly serious. The man was a POW for 51/2 years. He said himself that he broke. If you don't think people can be brainwashed, look at your family, neighbors and friends that think that the republicans are doing a good job. They watch reality, game and sitcoms until they're totally dumbed down. Think of a person that has spent 51/2 years hearing propaganda from the enemy every day they are there. The MSM has refused to give us real news and they won't talk about facts and many of us don't know WTF is really happening in this country and the world.

Gozer @ 52:

Do your homework, Gozie, and get a good night's sleep. You have school tomorrow and sixth grade is harder than fifth.

I didn't read your "rightious" [sic -- maybe righteous will be a spelling word this year] rant, but having read the one that didn't get deleted, I can only thank the powers that be for getting rid of it before I had a chance to see it. Grow up and learn to express yourself without sounding like a fool. Just a friendly suggestion.

PS Maybe you and John McCain can get into the same anger management class.

I think that Repubs are having a fall crush on Palin.

It reminds me of like the show that Chuck Woolery used to host -- the Love Connection. You get a 10 minute excerpt of a video of 3 eligible "dates" and the audience gets to pick the one for you. More often than not, the people going on the date came back with these horrific details about how their date wasn't exactly what they expected -- the date burped all the way through dinner, picked the boxers out of his/her butt crack and went through dinner with spinach in their teeth.

Always at the end of the segment, Chuck would ask: "How did the date end?" Usually the best shows turned out "Badly" --

I hope that the people that are so infatuated with Mrs. Palin will start to notice how she never changes the toilet paper and allows the cat on the kitchen counter after using the litterbox...

Sounds to me like Gozer isn't the only one looking for a fight.

Every damn day. It's why I'm phone-banking my a$$ off. Here's a little story for you at bedtime:

I had a very good phone-banking call tonight. An uncommitted person with a lot of misinformation. She had been paying a lot of attention to events, but had only been hearing the chatter and the smears and was confused. She was willing to share what was bothering her--all of it easily debunk-able. The more I told her, the more she wanted to ask, like she'd been waiting for somebody to trust with her questions. It was really fun telling her the truth, and she actually thanked me for taking time to talk to her--that almost never happens, as any of you who have worked the phones know. It made me feel like I'd done a very good deed.

You get a lot of people who hang up on you or who are rude, but then there are quite a few who just want to be heard. It made my night when she told me, "I'm glad you cleared this up (about Obama). He's much more likable than 'the other guy.' That guy just seems downright mean." I almost spit my coffee across the room I wanted to laugh so hard.

And now I'm going to sleep well tonight after several nights of not sleeping at all. As good a week as McCain and Palin have had, they're not up by much in the polls (yes, I know, USA Today--that's an outlier). As smart an informed as most of the people on this site are, we could make a huge difference if we donate an hour or two to the campaign. Let's go after these people!

You may wish to acquaint yourself with the facts concerning the less than altruistic motives of Barack Obama. Despite claiming that his campaign wealth comes from individual donors, Obama is backed by the biggest Wall Street firms: Goldman Sachs, UBS AG, Lehman Bros, J P Morgan Chase, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse, as well as the huge hedge Citadel Investment Group. "Seven of the Obama campaign's top 14 donors", wrote the investigator Pam Martens, "consisted of officers and employees of the same Wall Street firms charged time and time again with looting the public and newly implicated in originating and/or bundling fraudulently made mortgages."

A report by United for a Fair Economy, a non-profit group, estimates the total loss to poor Americans of color who took out sub-prime loans as being between $164 billion and $213 billion: the greatest loss of wealth ever recorded for people of color in the United States. "Washington lobbyists haven't funded my campaign" said Obama in January. "they won't ruin my White House and they will not drown out the voices of working Americans when I am president."According to files held by the Centre for responsible Politics, the top five contributors to the Obama campaign are registered lobbyists.

Despite his lofty rhetoric, Obama has chosen to dance with the devil in the hopes that Americans and especially liberals will not notice how corrupted he has become by being so heavily involved with Big Business and the major corporations. In reality, Obama offers very little hope while promising that little will change if he is elected president.

Your statement was that Obama is one of the rich and well connected. Show me where you get your information that he is rich. Errol, you have been making a lot of B.S statements on this blog but I don't see much documentation.

Regarding the whole fake makeover of the Republicans to be the party of change and the use of a ultra conservative book banning, lying opportunist to make it stick - all you have to remember is this... You can put lipstick on a pig all you want, but its still a pig.

Actually, we should be spinning the makeover in our favor. We should declare victory.

My next less-than-humbly suggested talking points blurb:

Get a load of these guys! You can't trust them for a minute. Have you noticed what they've done? They're trying to say that they're the party of change? Aside from the absurdity, which is patently obvious to everyone, think about it for a second. They're saying they're Democrats! Suddenly they want what we want -- better health care, change in Washington, etc. You know why they're saying it? Because they know that's what you want. That's right! They've messed things up so badly, but rather than own up to their failure, they're co-opting the Democratic mantras. Oh, and have you noticed that McCain's doing his Maverick act again? What's he emphasizing this time? That he crossed the aisle. To work with who? Yeah, us! The Democrats! Well, geez folks, if you want the Democrats in office for a change, try this: Vote Democrat!

Sure, the Green Party rocks. And as soon as they have a candidate that can raise $400,000,000 and get 18,000,000 votes in the primaries, I'll vote for them.

Don't do that. Don't look at third parties in terms of the presidency. Any movement to make third parties viable -- which I am all for -- must start locally, and must start with comprehensive electoral reform.

You think Americans are this conservative, and elect the candidates they want? It's the ELECTORAL SYSTEM. It's archaic. It's broken. And it leads to candidates like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain, Bob Dole, etc. (Really, George W. Bush is an extreme, but in order to grab the presidency, the theocratic, neo-con movement had to work for decades locally. And then, since there was no electoral reform, they had to steal the election in the end.)

The prople that are swayed by Palin are mostly people who would not have voted for Obama. Its more of a numbers game, trying to bring more fring voters to the polls.
We just need to do the same, making sure people are turning out in record numbers for the election.

Cyber Expert Spoonamore Says Voting Machines Manipulate Elections

We have a new 28 minute video of cyber security expert Stephen Spoonamore that everyone should see. He explains, in clear and understandable language, just how unsecure our voting system is and states without equivocation that he believes elections have been stolen with the Diebold and ES&S machines. Although Spoonamore is a Republican, he truly believes in fair and honest elections even if that results in his candidate losing. We all need to be extra diligent this coming election and heed Spoonamore’s warnings.

Your last statement looks like the classic "chicken and egg" problem.

The United States needs to move from an 18th century proto republic into a 21st century democracy.

I am tired of people pointing at the longevity of the American system as an indication of its "genius." In the big scheme of things, classic empires lasted much longer, and I would not claim any of them to be a work of "genius." If anything, the fact that such broken (and clearly anti-democratic) and archaic institutions as the electoral college, speak volumes about the laziness and passivity of the American populace.

I have a crazy uncle who still wears leisure suits and has the most heinous comb-over. It is not a testament about the awesomeness of the fashion sense of the 70s and the durability of polyester... but rather about my uncle's lack of style, and sheer inability to adapt to the times due mainly to his laziness.

A society as diverse as the US of A should not find acceptable the fact that when it comes to political choices, only 2 major parties are allowed to exist. And both of these parties are of the conservative persuasion (Dems would be considered moderate conservatives in the best of cases in most modern democratic systems). With such lack of balance, no wonder we are so screwed.

Tequila @ 102:

The U.S. is now planning to arm the UAE.

The U.S. is arming its allies and strengthening new ones in an attempt to further build up the Sunni coalition (read: majority of Muslims in the M.E.) against the Shia world (read: Iran).

Rice's visit to Libya last week is further proof of the fact that something is imminent, i.e. an attack on Iran. The U.S. is building a coalition. The coalition doesn't necessarily have to include countries that will provide troops on the ground or military hardware. It's merely seeking assurances that countries in the region are on its side. That will come in handy in winning the masses, where the leaders of each country control the pro-U.S. narrative.

Muqtada Al-Sadr, the Shia cleric in Iraq, has long accused Libya of "disappearing" one of his relatives, Musa Al-Sadr, in the late 1970s.

So, garnering support for an attack on Iran, hinges on exploiting the rift between the two sects.

Islamofascists are the Republicans of the middle East. Which is the irony of it all...

Probably, the thing that the republicans fear the most from the Islamofascist is not the terrorism or the religious extremism, but rather that Usury is prohibited in Islam. Can you imagine where most of our ruling elite would be if they were not able to make money off other people's work via usury? It is like sunlight to a vampire....

The context of this is that the American media resembles Pravda in its glory days. The main difference is that the American media seems to have better graphic designers...

The only reason why McCain is a viable candidate is due to the massive ommisions on his reality and propaganda by the American media.

After all, if we have to be blunt about it. McCain's only achievement, seems to have been captured by the enemy. In fact, hadn't he been pulled off the water by his captors he would have drowned. So he couldn't even manage to be captured with honor via a proper surrender (a rescue by the enemy is fucking far from an honorable surrender).

But you can not say this, because in this country veterans are treated as heroes, well... until they have the audacity of expecting our tax dollars to take care of them, then they are on their own. This is the same country who would huff and puff about what I just wrote in the previous paragraph, but has not problem sleeping soundly tonight knowing that there are tens of thousands of those "hero" veterans sleeping under a bridge. And most of those veterans may have seen actual combat and acted with orders of magnitude more honor than McCain would ever dream to muster. Alas, the hypocrisy of this country can be overwhelming sometimes.

If false and untrue, I see a liable case with this.

A Cali prison union is petitioning for Arnie's total recall. Bush flip-flops on withdrawal. American teens are so fat, they're getting liver disease!

I saw Arnie recall attempt on the news. I surely hope that it grows legs. That man should have never been governor in the first place. Thanks for the article.

Sometimes reading McCain's constant fuckups and the rush of trolls hell bent on convincing that the yellow stream coming down from the McCain's campaign ain't piss but rather Dom Perignon. I get the impression that the movie "Idiocracy" was miscategorized: It wasn't a comedy, but rather a documentary.

So McPain is leading the polls... WTF is wrong with your country?! To a foreigner it seems like GOP can bring the worst kind of clowns to the elections, make statements that anyone (even a foreigner like me) can see are lies in about 1 second, or how long does it take to google. The VP is "praying the gays away", doesn't believe in evolution or global warming. They are stealing the "change" theme from the Dems, etc. And still they are leading?!

If your country was a small and insignificant one (like mine) then we could just laugh about all this. But since it is the US too much is at stake here. So get your act together please and make sure these clowns are not elected. Idea of having Palin as the leader of US scares the smith out of me.

It is simple: we are in the midst of a power struggle which determines the fate of America.

On one side of the ring, we have neo-cons/fascists who want to control the country so that they can get richer. They use religion as a shield while they do their shenanigans. To them, the American people are nothing but cogs in the wheel and/or canon fodder for their wars of acquisition. And in their speeches, they tell us as much under specific "memes" and "catch-phrases" that gain a toe-hold in popular culture.

The other side houses those who are the trampled and the angry. They are the folks who are awake and realize what the first group is doing to the country. They are fighting these first group dilligently so that our future isn't screw up for time and eternity. They see the Emperor's new clothes as they are. The represent the part of the country who is sick and tired of being hoodwinked by those in charge.

Heck, I'll even throw in who is in the middle of the power struggle: the sheeple.

These folks are conformists who just absorb what the MSM tells them to. They don't make a move in either direction, but they are malleable to the core. They can be easily persuaded. And, in numbers, they are dangerous because the neocons/authoritarians/republicans can tell them anything without clarification. They embrace "superpatriotism" as if it were no one's business. And they repeat everything their MSM handlers tell them to. And they repeat this drive repeatedly to their friends, family, co-workers and anyone else that gives them attention. They are also easily distracted.

That's why it is easy to believe that Sarah Palin is popular. She is like confectioner's candy to the sheeple. A "mother figure" with a AK-47 on one shoulder while having a baby craddled in the other arm.

The only hope here is time. We still have enough of it to get our country back, even if the Dems want to focus on civility.

Tequila: I tried to answer you before on the Arnie recall, so I'll do it again:

I'm glad that they are doing it. As far as I'm concerned, someone should have tried to recall Schwartzenegger a long time ago. I just hope the thing has legs. I don't want this to be a fluke. :(

Tyler Durden @ 108:

Ron Paul is a freaking idiot, he is like a stopped watch: right on some issues by accident, but wrong on most of his positions.

Besides the guy is a hypocrite; if he really gave 2 shits about his positions he would run for the party he truly represents: the libertarian party. Alas, he would not be able to be elected and thus unable to suck the public tit he has been sucking for the better part of 2 decades. You know, self-made libertarian macho man that he is and all...

Bravo. Although I have other thoughts about Ron Paul, I agree with this whole-heartedly. This man is nothing but a cult leader/carnival barker cum opportunist.

its a fuckin joke

dude first posted on youtube and bang...it went viral

libel for a youtube vid?

you mean like the guy who said he had gay sex with obama back in the 80s?

well....here is the next big mistatement from obama that the wingnuts will be going after

during his stephanopolis interveiw, george asked obama if he had ever considered going into the military and if not why not

i thought the question was idiotic...but obama answered anyway, and said that he had considered it, as he had friends whose parents were in the military stationed in hawaii, but as he graduated in 1979, although he had to register for selective service, since the vietnam war was over, he didnt feel the call to join up.

ok...but the wingnuts are now all over that selective service didnt start till july of 1980

therefore, obama must be lying

godamn you barack....you cant remember back 30 years when you had to register?

and heres the thing

when you take the sat's those tests go right to every branch of the service

i remember getting tons of literature from all branches after i took my sats around that same time, and had i not lived in cali, where at the time fees to go to a state school were very low, i wouldve seriously considered joining up

and even i didnt remember registering in 1980

but of course, barack is of a superior mind

fuck the wingnuts

well their spin is that they never alligned themselves with the org...they were just friendly to them, cuz they are voters too

yet, when sarah allegedly went into labor, she would rather have died then let her baby be born in texas

makes you think

can we bomb alaska for being a haven to anti american terrorists?

lets bomb it and take their oil

whos with me???

cuz if you aint with me, your are agin me...and you will see the force of my riteous pimp hand

Yeah. Great. You saw it. I saw it. Here at Crooks and Liars. We agree, probably, and share the same reaction.

Who else is seeing this and paying attention to it? And not only agreeing with it but having their minds changed by it?

This morning's (Tuesday, Sept.9) papers (e.g. The Washington Post, Dan Balz and Jon Cohen) say McCain is getting "a jump in support among white women." The article reports that a WaPost/ABC News poll has only 4 in 10 voters saying Obama has done enough to explain the "change" he promises, down six points from before his convention. And so on.

The 23/6 video montage we're responding to is clever and requires the mental self-awareness to recognize the power or repetition and code words.

But I write for a community newspaper, and I'm telling you, the video will fly right over the heads of most people. They won't get it. People want to believe, not be told how gullible they are and have their willingness to be convinced by propoganda exposed.

We are the clever people, our heads filled with knowledge and understanding. We get satisfaction when our cleverness is recognized by this video. It scratches our bellies as we roll on the floor, paws up.

But the video won't change minds. It only rewards the already righteous.

Great mash-up!

this is truly pathetic. we have an old geezer who is close to being senile, who makes mistake after mistake in factual references, whose own party abandoned him quite a while back because there was a realization that he had way too much baggage. and now this old relic is actually making a race where none should exist. Never ever underestimate the absolute ignorance of the heartland. they will embrace both him and his bombshell of a running mate who herself is as much a deceiver. her deception though is by design, not ruled by senility.

Another mantra of mccainspeak is "country first." anyone catch the hypocrisy of imposing religious beliefs in public policy (e.g., abortion, sex ed, creationism, etc.)? that's not country first, that's religion first. i'd like somebody to put the issue to palin or mccain.

I found this interesting.
" John McCain's campaign acknowledged this weekend that Sarah Palin is unprepared to be vice president or president of the United States.

Of course, McCain's people said no such thing. But their actions told you all you needed to know.

McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden all subjected themselves to tough questioning on the regular Sunday news programs. Palin was the only no-show. And it's not just the Sunday interviews. She has not opened herself to any serious questioning since McCain picked her to be next in line for the presidency."

Meanwhile on MSNBC

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.

Palin, who earns $125,000 a year, claimed and received $16,951 as her allowance

The governor's daughters and husband charged the state $43,490 to travel and many of the trips were to and from their house in Wasilla and Juneau, the capital city 600 miles away,

Palin rarely sought reimbursement for meals while staying in Anchorage or Wasilla, the reports show.

which means she did charge the taxpayer for some meals while at home in Wasilla...

'I dont fancy cooking tonight, lets munch on a taxpayer special tonight'

nice scam if you can get others to pay for your home dinners.

I bet the poor in Alaska were proud to be paying their taxes to fund the govs home town feasts.

You're right, it would be scary to have McCain or Palin at the realm. Between nutty, not too bright trigger-happy McCain and rapture driven animal slayer Palin, it is truly frightening. Unfortunately, the repubs. play to the "low information voter" (read: stupid) and the evangals. Those people don't care about anything but guns, god, hating gays and women. They are too dumb to realize that the republican party has been using and discarding them for years. Sad, really.

Gallup: McCain Now Winning Majority of Independents

Majority of independents now prefer him over Obama, 52% to 37%

PRINCETON, NJ -- John McCain's 6 percentage-point bounce in voter support spanning the Republican National Convention is largely explained by political independents shifting to him in fairly big numbers, from 40% pre-convention to 52% post-convention in Gallup Poll Daily tracking.
By contrast, Democrats' support for McCain rose 5 percentage points over the GOP convention period, from 9% to 14%, while Republicans' already-high support stayed about the same.

Pay no attention to those polls!!!

It happens to me also and the site monitor says it's a spam filter that grabs the comment and won't let loose.

Whew! i thought it was some type of of desnarkifacation device.

Hahaha .. that was great!

We'll see how "fair and balanced" the media really is when someone finally asks "granny pantties or thong". Sound sexist? It is. But let's not cry unfair. That would be the ultimate double standard.

Ah.. here I was offline over the weekend when all the interesting geopolitical posts came up.. but just to throw my $0.02 into the fray..

Regarding McSame's proposal for a League of NationsDemocracies.. Just more proof that McSame is a POrW, beholden to the same Neocon think tanks that gave us the Iraq war and said they'd be throwing rose-petals at the feet of our troops. And it displays the exact same wishful-thinking-alternate-reality world view. It seriously boggles the mind to try and figure out how these guys can be so completely ignorant about what people in the rest of the world think. Doesn't seem they even try to put themselves in the other guy's shoes.

Anyway.. no need to take that idea seriously. Yes, it's an obvious ploy to ursurp the UN. What the Neocons just don't seem to get here, is that it's equally obvious to the rest of the world. Or maybe they don't care, and they're living the delusion that we can get the rest of the world to do whatever we tell them to.

Bottom line is.. the UN still has good popular support in the USA. It has even greater popular support in the rest of the developed world. (I've got no figures but I'd guess 75-80% or more in Germany, and over 90% in the Nordic countries and Netherlands) But more importantly: To the extent that there are people in other countries who think there are problems with the UN, none of them consider "Not enough US influence" to be one of those problems.

The US already has its own little club. It's called NATO. And since the end of the Cold War, and the rise of the EU, it's been losing relevance. And I'm pretty sure almost all the NATO member nations think that having one United States Fan Club is enough.

But I will say this, you are getting people here riled up enough to go out and vote. And get other people to vote as well. So I should say thanks.
