What the hell is going on with Cornell University? Seriously. I try not to judge too quickly, but one huge ethical error cum public nightmare per year really oughta be enough—a second one equals a pattern.
I’m closely connected to Cornell. My mom’s as active an alum as she can be at her age. I grew up going to reunions. And I nearly went there for college. So none of this brings me any pleasure.
First, let me remind you a Cornell student rejected a job offer this past summer by infamously saying he “didn’t want to work for Jews.” His own parents kicked him out of their house. Cornell…just let him return to school in the fall year like nothing happened, no punishment, nothing.
Now we have prosecutors in New York reopening an investigation into an alleged gang rape at a Cornell University fraternity in 2024 because a civil lawsuit was filed by the alleged victim earlier this month. The toxic culture of bro-gatherings--be they fraternities, the priesthood, Trumpers, and its near mirror image, the Epstein class--strikes again, and reminds us of the necessity for enormous reforms and cultural change.
