Prominent conservatives are finally starting to realize that an unqualified half-term hockey mom from Alaska might not be the best choice to be a 72 year old heartbeat away from the presidency. Here's the brutal roundup.
It was fun while it lasted.
Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.
No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted. Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there.

The should panic after all if something happends to McCain and he wins ( which I doubt) Palin would be their President too and that woman is clueless to say the least.

my fear is this: why isn't joe biden saying ANYTHING about her? i realize that they don't want to participate in the negative aspect of campaigning -- but it's kind of an elephant in the room that this woman is an absolute disaster of a candidate and CLEARLY does not have a grasp of any important issues.

I don't like her but I feel really sorry for her, McCain used her and damaged her severly. I'm betting that she "resigns" suddenly about Monday and Mitt comes to the Rescue Sunday night - yeah she will be forced out and Mitt will come out with his "business" background. The other alternative is Rudy who will talk about his vast experience as mayor of New York City. But, she will never debate - that would be the end. McCain is impulsive, volatile and kind of mean down to the bone these days. It is really looking like early dementia to me - I watched my dad turn very quickly into a mean, racist, impulsive ass with a temper that would go off on a dime - but it was not the man I knew all my life - it was the result of early Alzheimer's. I really hope that it isn't, but damn - it looks like it.
Palin can be described in two words: Dan Quayle.

Just because some GOP heavyweights are getting nervous about Sarah, it doesn't mean the rank and file GOP, Evangelical voter is. She was the hand picked choice of the agents of intolerance and McCain had to cave to their demands if he wanted their support.
The Repugs should be mad at Dobson, Lehay,Scaith et al for forcing Palin onto the ticket.
She wasn't smart enough to say, "No" when she was asked to join the ticket. She's clueless to her own un-electability. She has the arrogance of ignorance. I'm sure she believed that she was the missing piece to the presidential puzzle, Yup, Yup.
I agree that "Cut and Run" McCain used her, but she was a willing participant.
I honestly thought that McCain couldn't have made a worse choice than Lieberman, but then Palin came along. I was and remain astounded.

This may be all part of a massive Lowering Expectations Plan™ by the GOP, timed to peak at the time of the VP debate. They're very very good at this.

The sad thing about this?
McCain made this choice for purely political reasons............not for a second did he think about the country. This was all about making a choice that would help him win the election.
Contrast that with Obama's pick of Biden. Biden is absolutely qualified for the VP job, and could easily be the President. He provided strength against Obama's weakness; and he's a solid choice in anyone's book.
McCain has made his bed, and now he's going to have to sleep in it. The right thing to do for everyone concerned is admit the mistake and have Palin bow out gracefully. But that will never happen.

if he isn't a moron, he is the most easily bribed you will find, or is a puppet. What choice is there remaining with a senator that has been avoiding service for so long? 26 years. Never wrote a banking bill and he is the chairman of a committee that deals with the economy. Admits he doesn't know much about economics. What exactly does he know anything about? Has anyone found out? Helped wipe out the savings of thousands of people with Keating 5. Why? He got paid to do it. He is a crook. This is what happens when you don't properly vet a candidate let alone vet her at all.
This happened because:
1. They were panicking about the sucess of the DNC.
2. They were pandering to the religious right so much that they allowed them to choose the VP candidate.
3. Possibly McCain's impulsiveness at work again.

You are right. She has the right way to answer. Talking points. Keith noted the other day. All she has to do is fill in the blanks when key words are given to her. I can't understand why no one is ever called on not answering the question posed. It would seem like a very good move against her rote repetition of the talking points fed to her by the campaign. Reflect her answer back to her and ask if she answered then ask her again! Then you'd really see the dear in the headlights look that beauty contestant types generally have.
If anyone thinks McCain is in charge, I have bridge I'll let you have cheap. There hasn't been a republican president in the last 30 years that was in charge. They all have been talking heads for greater powers behind them. Hell, Ronald Reagan slept through most of his last term.

I don't really feel too sorry for her and when I do, I listen to her speech at the RNC, including her criticizism of Obama for being a community organizer and her BS about "thanks, but no thanks for that Bridge to Nowhere". She is hateful and mean-spirited. She is a grown woman, a politician, and she knew, somewhat, what she was getting into. Her ambition was much greater than her competence and she truly thought she could fool most of the people. It almost worked too.
Now, she has quite possibly ruined her entire career. Whoever runs against her for governor will have plenty of ammo to nail her with.

While I admire some of the wingnuts fessing up to not being impressed with Palin, it only makes them look all the more stupid. These are primarily the same people who backed her immediately without knowing the slightest thing about her. They praised her and to an extend still do, they are just saying she is a PR disaster. When your instincts pan out to be dead wrong, it is probably better to just be quiet and keep it to yourself. They are admitting that they are complete fools, yet still want to provide their so-called wisdom on other matters.
All that are having this sudden unease should be reminded of their fine judgement each time they preach about something in the future.
