Jon Stewart provides a great summary of what the hell happened this week in Washington DC.

"The $700 billion dollar bailout bill: still dead. The world's credit markets: still constipated. The meltdown continues. Of course I'm not talking about the economy -- I'm talking about John McCain's campaign."

Go Jon!

Actually, this was one his best rants of late, partly because he actually was a little serious, imho. Great stuff.

After I watched that clip McCain is starting to look more like Austin Powers DR. Evil everyday

How do these buffoons get elected every year?

note to Biden -
1. It’s not what your saying but how your saying it.
2. Talk to women not about them
3. Take her “shots” and thank her for them.

Oh for the love of Stewart!!!

The guy that single handedly canceled Crossfire!!!

Everytime I see Belaga or Carlson I laugh!!!

As for McCain, only America extreme racism can defeat Obama now. That and voter caging, corruption, fraud, assassination,

a nuclear attack, or Joe Biden!

Brilliant!!! A must see and then shout Get the Eff Back To Work!!!! just like Jon.
My hero!!

Thank god a lot of younger people get their news from the Daily Show.

Ohhh noes! You didn't finish the clip! The rest was absolutely smokin'! Ah well!

Jon Stewart is a sissy. He brought Ted Tubes Stevens to everyone's attention many times. Now the absolute most crooked politician in Congress is on trial in Washington D.C. and there is not a word. He is too busy making fun of Palin and McCain.
This is why people like Sen. Stevens fly under the radar. Jon Stewart has the attention span of a gnat. Where is his outrage about this corruptions trial happening right in his lap?

Republican Cantor is such a weasel.

Chris Matthews calls Cantor out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgq3UFVi2s8

Chris "You're trying to take off your uniform and run from the field of political battle and claim your not Republicans. Your claiming your running against this administration." " Take responsibility sir for the policies that have gotten us into this mess"

Matthews goes on "I have never in my life seen a party run from its own record like the Republicans"

Another time Chris rips into Cantor on Iran

Capatain Bitter Elitist Kangaroo @ 7:

Thank god a lot of younger people get their news from the Daily Show.

But can we get their asses to the polls?

Side note:
My girlfriend knows of a woman who asked, "Can I vote for Palin and Obama?"
Nevermind that the retard actually likes Palin, but focus instead on the fact that apparently she thinks running for Veep and running for president are two totally separate races and that depending on how the vote on Nov4th goes, she could enjoy an Obama/Palin presidency. [my mind is thumping as if ready to explode] RIGHT THERE, folks, is the kind of person the Repugs are trying to victimize into voting for McCain by tricking them into voting for Palin.

Christ, just let McCain win. Let it all burn.

(DAMN IT. I can't stand by that last statement. One, I have family and friends who I don't want living under another 4-8 years of GOP Crime Family policies and two, the morans[sic] that I would want to suffer for their stupidity would likely not even notice the difference, being stupid and all)

McCain looks like a completely clueless, grasping-for-the-straws fool every single day. With the R-party abysmal record of plunder, destruction and nothing but hate-mongering on a global scale, and with the pathetic ineptitude of the joke that is the McCain campaign- it is truly both shocking and telling that this is even a remotely close election.

The only explanation, without any doubt, is that racism is deeply rooted in this country, and this alone may well deny Obama, the other corporate/lobby (though unquestionably better in almost all aspects) candidate the election, which should otherwise be a slam-dunk.

Jon and Stephen do every day what the so-called journalists have miserably failed to do for the past 8 years- speak truth to power, and expose government crimes.

I am torn between believing the financial institutions urgently need a bailout and then believing it's a rip-off of American taxpayers.

Here is an incredible statement by Democrat, Marcy Kaptu, who has developed a bill for rescuing American taxpayers from the financial institutions' debts at very little relative cost compared to Paulson's.

If you haven't seen her statement, see what you think.

"You should mention that to your previous sentence" Now that is funny!

I would shit in my own clothes to be able to write stuff like that.

If you haven't seen her statement, see what you think.

A bailout is needed to save people's jobs, pensions, savings etc.

I think that the problem stems from the fact that the corporatists, once again, want a blank check with no oversight as usual - so that they can profit even more.

That's what I'm talking about right there. When McCain says "...and return to Washington...", his right eye is popped and frozen and his left eye blinks all by itself. WTF??

Because he's a lizard from the family of old world chameleons, McCains eyes work independently of each other. He can impale a fly at twenty paces with his long, sticky, retractable tongue.

I hope this clears it up.

It's the credit freeze that threatens peoples' jobs and health insurance. Pensions, and savings are NOT guaranteed except temporarily by this $700T bailout. We could very easily be in the same position six months to a year from now, since there are no bars to the practices continuing, once the immediate consequences happen. I don't believe for a minute this plan is what is needed.

Did you watch Congresswoman Kaptu's statement?

You left out the awesome "Rosh Hashanah" rant at the end of the piece :(

"Seriously, Utah? You are not coming in for Rosh Hashanah?"

While Pelosi would be advised to keep her big mouth shut, I can't believe how sensitive the GOP is. My my, what a bunch of pussies. Imagine the field day Rush, Sean, and the Fox boys would be having if this were reversed.

Double standard, anyone?

So McCain came riding into town, put his butt kicking posse together and sent them to vote for the bailout. At high noon Madam Pelosi showed up with a speech and caused a whole bunch of the posse members to drop their drawers, start crying like babies and go running into the desert? Well, well, well.

Yes I did; I was able to understand what she was saying and it sounds reasonable.

But I know virtually nothing about economics.

I was under the impression that a bailout could save the economy if it were coupled to immediate reinstitution of the controls and oversights that were in place before Reagan etal.

I think that there would have to be regulations limiting executive pay - I mean, WTF is this deal about rewarding failed CEOs with millions of dollars?

But the Wall St gluttons want none of that.

But the "trickle up" idea suits me.

Ms Kaptur has been on a tear lately, hope that she continues.

Why are the Democrats arguing for trying to get this bill done? It is a Republican deal. Can you say "Bush begging to pass the bill"? Paulson on his knee begging? I think on Thursday the Democrats should call a holiday, something like "A nice day at the beach day" and let the Republicans try to straighten this out. And then vote against it. Who cares? I just figured out that the only losers will be the giant blood sucking investment and commercial banks. I couldn't give a god damn about them.

I do not belive Nancy Pelosi can say what she did on the house floor and look herself in the mirror and like what she sees.

Nancy you c*nt, YOU are the one causing all the problems with your blindness and deafness. No to impeachment? Care to rethink that? No, I thought not. Scum.

Gotchaware™
from the fine folks at CJR !
Funny.

This bailout just steam-lines the Bush economic polices in that he just grabs tax payer money and hands it over to the rich. This by-passes foolish things like jobs and the market. The argument that this will help all Americans, is true in essence but the top 20% control 80% of the wealth, and many like myself, who don't own any stock see this as just giving away our money. This is not American, not free market capitalism or democratic. 95% of the population is against this give-away. It will surely devalue the dollar and that will cause more inflation. It stinks of Communism and out right theft.

What I don't understand about this bailout is that the reason we are in this mess is because too many people have run up too many debts. Now the argument is in order to clear the way for more debt we must buy up the bad debts and then move on as before. There are people driving cars they can't afford with credit card balances they can't afford. How do we stop that from happening again in six months? If we make loans and credit easier now, aren't we setting things up for a repeat?

Well, one thing is for sure, the McKeating campaign has been and will continue to be one big whinefest.

They were never the party of personal responsibility.

They are the party of alibis, excuses and closeted pedophiles.

Trickle up? Sounds wonderful to me. Let the little guy have enough money to spend and he/she will buy a BBQ and a sweater and some hot dogs and if the BIG asshole who owns the hot dog business and the sweater business and the BBQ business has done a good enough job he will sell enough of his crap to make a lot of dough and there you have it. This trickle down nonsense is upside down. They want you to believe that if Randolf Big Bucks has a bunch of cash it will fall out of his pockets and the little people will be able to follow behind him and pick up the scraps and buy a car. But we all know that Randolf Big Buck is so tight he has not dropped a penny in years because the poor guy he hired to follow him around to pick up the loose change is as broke as you are. OK?
Think about t his. Henry Ford, as much of an asshole as he was, understood that if he paid his workers enough money to buy his cars he would make more money than his heirs could lose in fifty years. That, my friends, is called trickle up.

I saw this in its entirety. The Rosh Hashanah rant was absolutely priceless.

When I saw Karl Rove on the moment of Zen, I felt frustrated that the silouhette of my middle finger couldn't completely cover him up.

best temp gig in the history of the world

a massive overhaul of the economic structure of our country and the world must take place, or else we are all headed for a world wide depression

i would like to start by arresting every ceo of every financial institution that has failed, seize all their assets (doesnt matter whose name it is in...just take em), then take the whole lot of them, put them against the wall and shoot them in the gonads

ok mod...you can now edit my post....i feel better

Seriously, George Soros has the best plan of where to place the money.

and watch the whole segment to see and hear the incredible finale to this. Jon Goes Off!
Makes Olbermann look tame. It's worth it.

It's really not that funny.. America is the defender of freedom, republicans are money masters, and sovereign nations dont invade other sovereign nations in this century. Not funny.

Truth to Rescumlicans is like garlic, wooden stakes and mirrors to a vampire .Im not saying the GOP are blood sucking , nocturnal , pasty white undead people. Wait a minute.... maybe i am.

They deserve everything they get actually. Partisan my ass !! No mention of President Petulant Fucktards " angry left " comment ?

mccain is the first time i've seen a turd
get up and walk. still stinks like hell.

The clip stopped before the best part...Jon going on a Jewish holiday rant that only a Jew could get away with.

I totally agree with your first paragraph--McCain sounds old, old, old, and he hasn't said anything new or different. Judging by the decisions/reactions he's made the past (2) weeks, I certainly don't want him at the controls. I never really noticed until the past couple of days, but he's just not very bright. And, don't even get me started on his choice for VP. She's so out of her league, I really feel sorry for her. I was worried at one point that people would actually vote McCain in. Not anymore. I'm proud that my fellow countrymen are waking up and seeing the light. Go Barack!

he's beginning to sound as if he's in the first stage of senile dementia.
he has lost touch with reality. he can't remember what position he takes on any given subject on any given day. Is this someone you REALLY want to run the country? And caribou barbie would be just as bad, if not worse!!!

I have said it before and I will say it again, Jon Stewart should get the lead chair on Meet The Press. He is the only journalist (yes, I said journalist) that has the courage to take these bums to task. He practices the kind of journalism (look there's that word again) that made Mr. Russert famous. LISTEN UP NBC!

I agree. I watched this the other night and found myself clapping and cheering Jon on! However, please post the WHOLE rant. It gets even better as Jon goes on to humiliate the members of Congress taking a holiday for Rosh Hashanah amidst this crisis. Thanks Jon for calling these people out.

that southernbelle bit was too funny

John McCain is a scary, wrinkled little Toad.

Sorry...it has been pointed out to me that John McCain is a scary, wrinkled OLD little Toad.
