Somebody might have had a nip or two before meeting the press today. Or maybe his name is really pronounced this way and he forgot to keep up appearances.

Speaker: It's Boner, I mean Boehner:

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday mispronounced his last name as “boner” during a press conference at the Capitol. His verbal flub happened after a reporter mistakenly called Boehner “Mr. Camp,” a reference to Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.).

“Mr. Camp, I mean, sorry, Mr. Speaker,” the reporter said, as he prepared to ask Boehner about tax reform.

“….Boner, boner,” said Boehner, who tried to correct the reporter, which drew a heavy bout of laughter.

I've never heard anyone mispronounce their own name in such a away as to be mocked for it, but hey, I guess anyone can make a mistake about their own last name, right? Oh, this might explain his behavior.

This marked the second consecutive day in which Boehner was acting loopy during a press conference with reporters.

On Wednesday, he called out two reporters for wearing brightly colored shirts.

“Nice tan, sir,” one of the reporters shot back.
