Mitch McConnell Tries To Tank International Climate Change Accord

If there was any doubt left in your mind about what a Koch whore Mitch McConnell is, you should definitely lose those last shards with this news.

Imitating junior Senator Tom Cotton, Mitch McConnell has written to countries about to reach an agreement on reducing carbon emissions and told them they shouldn't count on the United States actually doing that thing they're agreeing to.

In a statement released yesterday, McConnell wrote, “Even if the job-killing and likely illegal Clean Power Plan were fully implemented, the United States could not meet the targets laid out in this proposed new plan. Considering that two-thirds of the U.S. federal government hasn’t even signed off on the Clean Power Plan and 13 states have already pledged to fight it, our international partners should proceed with caution before entering into a binding, unattainable deal.”

I'm so glad to see Mitch McConnell hates America so much he doesn't believe in our ability to actually come together and act for the good of the planet as a whole. American exceptionalism? MEH.

I'm sure he has some bullshit excuse for why Antartica hit a record high of 63 degrees last week, too. Gotta keep the billionaires happy, after all.

These Republicans are shameless, evil creatures who don't care what they do to anyone, and it particularly sticks in my craw on a day where Governor Brown has ordered draconian water control measures. Because drought. Big drought. The kind of drought that we've not seen before in this state, and the kind of drought that can bring economic ruin on the entire country if we don't deal with it.
