Football player Colin Kaepernick has sparked nationwide debate by taking a knee during the National Anthem. His action is a nonviolent protest against the violence African-American men experience at the hands of law enforcement.

During the first NBA preseason game on ESPN, the NY Knicks and Houston Rockets stood together, arm in arm when the anthem was played.

Carmelo Anthony, the star of the Knicks has voiced support for Kaepernick's protest.

Unlike the NFL, the NBA has a rule that players must stand for the national anthem. These players found a way do so in what they thought was an appropriate manner. without dragging the league into it.
