I've been wondering where Frank Schaeffer has been these days. Once an acolyte of his father Francis Schaeffer's Reagan-era Religious Right, Schaeffer walked away from it in favor of intellectual honesty and some righteous anger at where Republicans have gone.

Unlike Trump sycophants Jerry Falwell, Jr and Franklin Graham, Frank Schaeffer is over it all. Republicans, their lying ways, the insidious way they hijack evangelical Christianity to maintain male and white supremacy and more.

He came to AM Joy this morning loaded for bear. "Think about the Republican Party now," he told her audience. "Throw some words out that are associated with them -- Mass shootings, Milo, Trump, Moore, Bannon, rape, child molesting, neo-Nazis, white supremacy."

That's quite a list, isn't it?

"What is wrong with the Republican Party?," he asked. "I'm not shocked by Donald Trump. I'm not shocked by Roy Moore. He's a loud mouth, gun toting fool. What I'm shocked by is the complicity."

Yes, indeed. The complicity, which is not limited to the halls of the vaunted Republican Party, but also the evangelical right, where Jerry Effing Falwell, Jr. actually came out and said flatly that he believes Moore and that those women are just lying liars.

"We have a situation where the Republican Party has become complicit. Milo, mass shootings, Bannon, Moore," he repeated.

He added, "Donald Trump would have been in jail if he was caught grabbing a woman by the crotch without her permission. That's criminal assault. The climate is so poisonous. It boggles my mind."

Mine, too, Frank Schaeffer. Mine too.
